I'll go with Box Office Mojo - but with one important difference.

Minority Report - 68 million. And even then I'm thinking that could well be too low.

ok i gotta do mine early this week i am in salt lake tonight and i will be in boise tommorow (i am going to see my grandpa for the first time since 1989 after my gradma died, plus some of my cousins and aunts i haven't seen since the funreal)

so here we go

1) Lilo & Stitch________$44.12
2) Minority Report_____________$40.01
3) Scooby-Doo__________$22.88
4) The Bourne Identity____$17.51
5) The Sum of All Fears___$8.13

Jedi Master Carr
Jun 20th, 2002, 11:52:58 PM
Ok here is Lee's guess for those who are curious
1 Minority Report $48.2
2 Scooby-Doo $31.9
3 Lilo & Stitch $27.9
4 The Bourne Identity $16.5
5 The Sum of All Fears $8.8

I think he is wrong about Lilo and Stitch I think that will beat Scooby partly because Scooby is going to take a huge dive I think 50-55% and also Lilo and Stitch looks funny and there is a lot of buzz on it.

Okay here is the Theater count for tomorrow from Mojo
Scooby-Doo 3,447 0
Lilo & Stitch 3,191 -
The Sum of All Fears 3,037 -193
Minority Report 3001 -
Windtalkers 2,898 0
The Bourne Identity 2,643 +5
Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood 2,310 -197
Spider-Man 2,278 -424
Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones 2,107 -294
Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron 2,005 -868
Bad Company 1,562 -1,382

Well Bad Company and Spirt lost the most theaters Bad Company lost half its theaters after two weeks ouch, Spirt got hit hard too, SM lost more than SW this time which is good.

Also I am going to post my guesses
1 Minority Report 44.54
2 Lilo and Stitch 37.56
3 Scooby Crap 27.44
4 The Bourne Identity 15.37
5 The Sum of All Fears 9.32

I am going low for Minority Report for two reasons first AI made in the high 20's which was a shock to me and I am factoring that in. Second the screen count is low plus there are so many movies out there I think it will open in the mid 40's which is still great what it will need more is legs IMO.

I have a feeling Minority Report is going to go much better that expected. If it's as good as the critics say, a Spielberg movie with Cruise as the star - that's the formula for a big, big success. I'm standing by my prediction

Box Office Guru are going with 35 million for Minority report??? Are they drunk????

Jedi Master Carr

35 seems very low, so maybe they are. I think 45 is a decent estamite my reasoning is it is a crowded marketplace but hey I could be wrong. I also only know one person who wants to really see it opening weekend, a couple of my friends don't like how the movie looks but I am not sure what that means, maybe nothing, it will be interesting to see Friday's numbers.

1) Minority Report - $ 65.12 million
2) Lilo & Stich - $32.81 million
3) Poopy Poo - $22.91 million
4) Bourne Idenity - $14.13 million
5) The Sum of All Fears - $8.076 million

[UPDATE: I decided to be bullish about a movie for once. Upped my Minority Report pick by 20 million ]

3) Scooby Doo - $26.74 million
4) Bourne Idenity - $15.72 million
5) The Sum of All Fears - $8.84 million

Looks like Dizzy the lucky person this weekend, he was the only one who picked Lilo and Stitch first and it looks he will win both 1 and 2.

sirdizzy
Jun 23rd, 2002, 12:46:26 AM
lucky my ass it looks like i am the only one who didn't believe the so called experts and went with a gut feeling

on one hand we got a dark, twisted spielberg movie (need i say AI) that looks really good starring tom cruise and gettinf great reviews

vs

a disney movie thats also looks really good (ala lion king highest grossing diseny movie ever) that its getting much hype and putting out tons of pressure

to be honest i did have my doubts slightly (but i still felt it could do it plus i need to take risks to get back in the game) and since i am way out of town i didn't even have to be tempted to change them and fridays numbers were close

Darth23
Jun 23rd, 2002, 11:30:20 AM
Uh.. Sorry dizz, According to the Estimates (http://www.entdata.com/bonews/bonewsframes.html), Minority Report managed to pull out the number 1 position. :p

1 Minority Report - 36.90
2 Lilo & Stitch - 35.80
3 Scooby-Doo - 24.36
4 The Bourne Identity - 14.76
5 The Sum Of All Fears - 7.90
6 Windtalkers - 6.70
7 Juwanna Mann - 6.00
8 Divine Secrets Of The Ya-Ya... - 5.68
9 Star Wars: Ep.Ii-Attack Clones - 5.10
10 Spider-Man - 4.40

AOTC really took a BIG hit if these numbers are accurate. Hopefully they underestimated the movies numbers again this week.

Well if those estamites are right I guess I will take the first spot but if they are wrong and Lilo wins than Sir Dizzy will win looks like we won't know until tomorrow afternoon.

Bribes what Bribes If there are any going around I must be not getting any :)

As far as the contest looks like I am only 60 points behind Lebron, right now there is 3 way log jam and there are a few others who aren't too far behind, and we still have the 4th that could shake things up.

CMJ
Jun 24th, 2002, 08:52:49 PM
I'm in 4th place...perfect stalking position. ;)

Jedi Master Carr
Jun 24th, 2002, 08:54:29 PM
Yeah you are right there, just about everybody is still in it even JMK and Jedieb who both could make a run with the 4th coming up.

CMJ
Jun 24th, 2002, 08:56:34 PM
Yep...I remember last summer Jedieb made a late surge and ended up in the top 4 or 5, even though he spent most of the contest near the bottom(like this year).
