It's a little bit hard to see the image when it's just a still and not a series of moving images, so one image has been inverted (made into a negative) and the other is regular. Inverted first.

I payed close attention to that guy the last two times I watched. Its not a vader helmet...it looks like one of those floppy gilligan hats instead.

It's what happens when Mel Brooks does the costumes :)

I think we're desperately straining to find something that isn't really there, and isn't going to be there until Episode 3.

I agree completely with JMK.

My guess is that in episode 3 anakin will kill this guy and start wearing that costume, and it'll then be considered vader's costume.

What I meant is that the costume isn't there at all. Anakin could kill that guy 10 times if he wanted, the Vader costume is going to be, and has to be something the galaxy has never seen. It has to be a one of a kind thing that strikes fear into everyone. If some guy said, "Hey Vader, gimme back my hat you hack!", it would definetly take away from Vader's presence.

Lucas did say the armour is pieced together, maybe he meant he gets from different sources?

When Lucas said that, I got the impression that you (the audience) will see pieces of the armor here and there almost like easter eggs, not that Vader himself will piece the armor together from different sources. The suit of armor is so well put together that it has to be a custom job (or at least not just a hodgepodge of spare parts).

And I think its safe to say that it won't be coming from this guy - it doesn't even really look like the helmet...

Lucas may like Leone films :)

I don't even recall that guy in the photo being present in the geonosian escape hangar. Do any of you?

He was there - right before Dooku takes off on his speeder bike. There is another guy in a similar outfit a few seconds before that too, standing by the Trade Federation transport ship.

Yeah, McBain is right, I was paying special attention to them yesterday. They're definetly wearing Gilligan style hats more than Vader's helmet. The closest thing to Vader's costume in AotC is the chain holding up Dooku's cape.

I would also say, along with the cape, that Vader's gloves, boots, and possibly the pleated garb may be something Dooku would wear. The helmet I am completed clueless about. We have seen nothing in the prequels that looks remotely like it.

I remember that guy. But after watching the OT again and seeing hats that look like that in the OT I dont think its that big of a deal overall.
