Well not really surprised, I guess it will do 55 million or so for the weekend, I still bet it will drop 50% or maybe even 60% next weekend. Also AOTC held up pretty good, it should make at least 8 this weekend maybe even 9.

Is it to late to change your box office predicaments?

Well hopefully it won't I think it will stay above it, this weekend AOTC will probably make about 9 (8.5-9) and Spiderman will make about (7-8).

I am not interested in this type of movie in the first place. Reminds me much of Flintstones. Never had much fascination for the original Scooby Doo series either. Have you seen the rating at Rotten Tomatoes btw? The trailers were also convincing in a way.. those footage and everything else I have seen, read and heard about this movie says to me "avoid it all cost!" The CGI is is jaw dropping (not in a good way). The acting and plot.. not sure if there is going to be any of that? Probably funny, but in unintended ways.

It's a kid's movie, and the only two kids I know (my niece and nephew) give it thumbs up. Their parents, my bro and sis-and-law, thought it was funny and didn't mind the cgi so much.

Spidey's averages for the same period of release are much stronger though. Especially when you consider it had more screens and seats to fill. Here are last weekend's numbers.

Spidey
Date DOTW Theaters AVG
5/24 Fri 3876 1870 305073768
5/25 Sat 3876 2917 316381817
5/26 Sun 3876 2568 326334752

AOTC
Date DOTW Theaters AVG
6/7 Fri 3161 1237 245003718
6/8/02 Sat 3161 1804 250707578
6/9/02 Sun 3161 1392 255106352

I wouldn't be surprised if Spidey passes AOTC in the next couple of weekends.

I think it will too. Seems inevitable. Will the media make a fuss about that too?

Spider -man SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!! I know I have said it before but it so DOES!!!!!!!!!!!

How can anyone complain about the acting in AOTC and NOT complain about spidermans????

How can anyone talk trash about AOTC"S story line and not talk about Spider-man's???

How can ANYONE!!! but spdey's CG in the same spot light as AOTC'S??

I guess MOST people are mindless drone's that like to have thing's just handed to them without having to think AT ALL!!

Spider-man looked as on the same lines as the FLASH tv series.I'll NEVER understand it never never never!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But on the + side I saw AOTC agian Tonight :)

Spidey was a good film, but it doesn't deserve to beat AOTC.
I still don't think Spidey will jump ahead in the weekly box office. Why would theaters dump AOTC before Spidey, when AOTC currently has a better per-screen average? That doesn't make sense! Spidey is due for a big fall soon. The question is when?

JMK

We've been saying that for weeks now. It probably won't happen, not before AotC drops below it.

and who exactly is still seeing Spidey? I mean really! I enjoyed it but I have no desire to rush out and see it again.

Spidey's worth seeing in the theater at least once. Raimi did a great job with it.
