Could I have some tips on makin a sig?

:idea I know what I want my character to look like, and am gonna sketch her myself and scan it. I've been playing around with different photo tools, but I don't really know what to do after I have my main character image. I was even wondering if after I make that image maybe I could send it to someone and they could make a sig for me. Any tips or other info would help thanks!:D

Thank you that'll be a big help. I'm working on the sketch now and I plan to have it done and scanned within a week. So I'll just post it here when I'm done. Thanks again!
