When will Obi Wan become cynical?

And start adopting his "certain point of view" attitude? Obviously if we're to see it, it will be in Episode 3, but more importantly, what will bring this about? Any thoughts? My guess is that he's creating a security blanket after he realises that he failed to keep Anakin from falling to the dark side.

I don't actually think we'll "see" his transition to this mindset - I think Ep. III will end with Obi-Wan ultimately failing in Anakin's training, attempting to put a stop to it, and messing up Anakin in the process. His attitude towards his failure I don't think we'll see until ANH.

We might see it to a degree after seeing most of the Jedi fall, Anakin fall to the dark side and the Republic controlled by the Sith though I expect anybody would be cynical at that point.
