So, Dooku trained Qui Gon. I'd assume that most people make Knight by about 25, judging by Obi Wan. You'd be training them for over 10 years, so let's say 15. And the minimum age for training would be when you were made Knight, so that would be 25. But I felt that Obi was rushed a bit by how TPM said it, so let me say 30. Let me also assume that training doesn't begin immediately after becoming a Knight normally, so add 7 years, making the beginning training age often 37

So, 37(Beginning age) + 15 (Training) + 30 (Getting Qui Gon up to his TPM age) + 10 (TPM-EP2 gap)

= 92

Damn, that Dooku was good for his age :)

I think the the training age is 12 or 13. In fact, if you don't get chosen as a Padawan you end up with a lame job, something like the Agricultural Corps. At least that's what training was portrayed as in the young Obi-Wan novels. If Qui-Gon hadn't chosen Obi-Wan when he did Obi-Wan would not have ever become a Padawan. He was a few months away from the cut-off date and I think it was his 13th birthday. So I think most padawans become Knights in their early to mid 20's. You can probably take on an apprentice anytime after that as Obi-Wan did. So let's see if we can try to make some kind of time line around Dooku's age;
Qui-Gon 10-12, Dooku 25-30
Qui-Gon 40, Obi-Wan(QG's second padawan) 12, Dooku 55-60
Anakin 9-10, Qui-Gon 50, Obi-Wan (22), Dooku 65-70
Anakin 19-20, Obi-Wan 32, Dooku 75-80

If we could get Qui-Gon's and Obi-Wan's exact age we'd be set. But however you look at, Dooku is anywhere from 70-90. Pretty impressive butt kicking from a senior citizen.

Well, the ages I heard for TPM were 60 for Qui and 25 for Obi

60 seems a bit old.......i'd say more around 45-50.

I believe your source Reaper, as I've read it too, but I could NEVER buy the fact that Qui Gon was meant to be that old. If they were trying to achieve that, they should have gotten someone at least 10 years older than Liam Neeson.

I suspect the force slows the aging process down so you could be 60 but look 45-50 that is what I always thought but in that case does that make Dooku 90 but he looks 75-80.

What about Obi in ANH? He's supposed to be a little less than 60 (let's be VERY generous and say that Kenobi is 38 in AotC, even though he's probably 35 or so. Add the 20 year gap between AotC and ANH, and Obi Wan is about 58. I'm sorry, but there's NO FRIGGIN WAY that Obi Wan in ANH is younger than Qui Gon in TPM. I wouldn't believe Lucas himself if he told me that!

Well, Obi-Wan will have been living in an inhospitable environment for 20 years...

that is a little hard to believe even with the inhospitable environment. I too felt the force inhibits aging...I always assumed the emperor was ancient. Saying qui-gon was as old or older the obi in anh is a little hard to swallow.

He just held his age well :)

What, and the stress of dealing with Anakin/Vader for all those years gave Obi Wan all that whitened hair?
