At the end of TPM Obi-Wan's rank was made very clear. Anakin's status at the end of AOTC is left unsaid. Is he still a Padawan or was he elevated to the level of Jedi Knight because of his participation at the battle of Geonosia? The confrontation with Dooku? Or does he still have to face the trials? Maybe it was left unsaid because we'll finally get to see the Jedi trials in EP3. I for one wouldn't mind if they left him at the level of Padawan if it meant to finally see what the Jedi trials are all about. They've been mentioned in both prequels but we've been denied both times. I really want to see them in Ep3.

Didn't Mace Windu ask Obi-Wan where his apprentice was at the end, when Obi-Wan told him he had escorted Padme back to Naboo? Or did Mace just ask where Anakin was? I'm going again tonight, so I'll try to catch it then...

Edit: how do you guys mask the lettering?

ok, like this..

I believe Windu did ask Kenobi where his "apprentice" was... so it's safe to say he's still a Padawan..

PS: Sage.. I don't think yours worked :(

Like this: [*spoiler]blah, blah[/*spoiler] Take out the "*"s.
I haven't seen the movie yet(yes, I'm a moron), but I would suggest to those seeing it again to look for the "Learner Braid". If he has it, he's still a Padawan. If not, well, he's a Knight. :)

I say that he was still a padawan also because Yoda felt what he did at the Tusken Camp, not sure how much he really knows about it for sure though, but still he didn't overcome the darkside so I am wondering if he ever makes it to the level of Jedi Knight

Well, it says nowhere in the book anything else, so I assume as all the others say

All this makes me think that he's still a Padawan. With AOTC and EP3 taking close to 2-3 years apart that's a long time for Anakin to remain a Padawan, especially with everything that he's already accomplished. He's going stir crazy now, can you imagine him in a couple of years if he's still a Padawan? As for the novelization, that's not the answer, the movie is. The ROTJ novelization has things that were purposely cut from the film to keep the prequels free and clear.

Just came back from my second viewing. Mace definitely asks Obi-Wan "Where is your apprentice?"
That could also explain why he turns, he is still an apprentice, the council keeps pushing him down, it is at least a possibility.
