Ok another week, hmm this should be hard again there doesn't appear to be anything coming out, what am I talking about we all know that SW:AOTC is going to be #1 there is no question there so in honor of this day, we shall do things a little differently here is what we will do you post the 4 day guess for AOTC and the regular 3 day guess for the other 4 films but the AOTC's guess will give you double points, so if it scores #1 and you win, you get 50 points. Now since I have posted this so late here is how we will work it, you can just post your EP 2 guesses first by Friday 9AM and the other 4 can be in by Saturday 9am or you can post them all before Friday your choice. Ok get going and may the Force be with you.

Sorry, I have no idea what you mean. We make a weekend guess AND a EP2 4 day guess?

Jedi Master Carr
May 15th, 2002, 08:41:46 AM
You make a 4 day guess for AOTC like exampled
1 AOTC (4 day total)
2 Spiderman (3 Day Total)
3 Etc
4
5
and so forth, the AOTC thing is a bonus because you get double the points.

Master Yoghurt
May 15th, 2002, 08:47:32 AM
Instead of doubling the points, you could move those extra points for an AOTC opening day bonus. Example:

Weekend prediction:
1. AOTC (fri-sun)
2. Spiderman (fri-sun)
3.
4.
5.

Bonus: AOTC opening day

JMK
May 15th, 2002, 08:57:39 AM
That works too, but IMO, for simplicity's sake, JMC's way may be the way to go. Then again, I don't run the contest, so it ain't my call! ;)

Master Yoghurt
May 15th, 2002, 09:03:46 AM
JMC's approach is more simpler, but with my proposal, the points would be more spread out. Oh, well, guess it is not my call either. :)

Master Yoghurt
May 15th, 2002, 09:18:50 AM
My early 4-day estimate for AOTC. It is likely to be adjusted at some point.

4-day weekend (thursday-sunday): $126.90M

Edit: Updating my prediction a slight tad

Jedi Master Carr
May 15th, 2002, 09:33:58 AM
We could do it that way but I would have to figure out how many points to give for the bonus, I guess we could give 25 points, of course one problem there is everybody will just wait until Thursday's estmates come out and subtract Thurs's numbers from there total or what not. I will let CMJ read it and get his say about it before we decide completly, we still have time luckily to get this worked out.

Master Yoghurt
May 15th, 2002, 10:43:07 AM
Well, you could just set the deadline for AOTC weekend and opening day prediction at friday 9AM, or you could let people use the thursday estimate to post more accurate 3-day predictions. I am ok with it whatever is decided. It was just a suggestion. The idea was simply to have the points more spread out and add some excitement to the guessing (more chances to "win" a prediction). Either way, I will post my guesses. :)

Jedieb
May 15th, 2002, 11:11:00 AM
I don't like the idea of using estimates. I think there should be one cutoff for all of the guesses. But whatever you guys come up with is fine by me.

Jedi Master Carr
May 15th, 2002, 12:55:32 PM
That is really what I think but I will allow people to guess 2-5 on Friday if they want, I don't really see any harm in that because the Thursdays estimates will be usless for the other films plus there is one movie opening wide on Friday About a Boy and I think that it will make the top 5, 3rd at the highest.

Quadinaros
May 15th, 2002, 04:45:01 PM
Anyway, following the rules from the first post: :rolleyes

1. AOTC $121.55(4-day)
2. Spidey $43.33(3-day)
3. Unfaithful $9.14
4. About A Boy $7.26
5. The New Guy $4.95

Should be some total box office records set in the coming weeks.

JMK
May 15th, 2002, 05:05:17 PM
I guess one record that may fall is the highest grossing for both the #1 and #2 movies.

Anyway, here are my bold predictions:

1. Star Wars (124.92M 4-day)
2. Spider-Man (41.44M)
3. Unfaithful (10.11M)
4. the New Guy (5.04M)
5. About a Boy (4.65M)

When's the deadline for adjusting these? Friday 9am? Except for the Star Wars guess?

Jedi Master Carr
May 15th, 2002, 09:34:03 PM

I’ve been trying to log on all morning! I know it’s past the deadline but here’s my prediction. I posted over at CCNet just to get it on record. Here’s the link if you want to check the times. If my predictions aren’t allowed that’s allright. I’ll just spend all weekend crying and seeking consolation from my cats.

My post reads, “posted May 17, 2002 05:51 AM”. That’s 8:51 AM EST. I’d been trying to log on and post since I’ve been at work, but I guess this place is too busy or something. I had trouble getting on last night also. I guess I should have posted my guesses before I went to bed. :cry

I had an old friend from college come into town yesterday(with little notice, gotta love those flight attendants)...so I haven't been able to tabulate the results. I'm having to do the sight seeing thing with her. ;) Once she leaves I'll score everyone(if Carr doesn't do it beforehand).

JMK

Jedi Master Carr
May 21st, 2002, 10:34:28 AM

Well here is how this week worked out the closest person to AOTC clones was Admiral Lebron who picked it 6 million lower than total and this week seemed a little weird as hardly anybody go the #3-4 films right.

The winner of the #3 film was DBN

Jedi Master Carr 35
Mu Satach 30

Um, sorry to bring this up but I never got an answer.

Last week I got points for a movie that I picked in the wrong order. The first week I DIDN'T get points for doing the same thing.

So what's the deal?

Jedi Master Carr
May 22nd, 2002, 11:50:58 PM
I think CMJ took the points away but need to see what he says about it.
