Please design an ultra-heavy space bomb capable of outputting 40.19x1015J's of energy. I have done some calculations, and that is the amount of power needed to short out the aft shielding on an ISD2 in one blast.

40.19x1015Joules is equivalent to 10 megatons.

you can use this formula in determining how much power in the form of space bombs it will take to short out the aft shielding of a target vessel:

r=sR/iR
Reduction=target shield Rating divided by Imperial II SD shield rating.

So if the target is an SSD with a shield rating of 22,000SBD, and the shield rating of an Imperial II SD is 4,400SBD, it will take 5 space bombs to reduce their aft shielding to 0%.

What is the shield rating of an ISD2? I forget.

OOC: This is what I like to call "way too damn technical for your own good" :p

Maybe so, but it's a scientific method of shield reduction, rather than random splotches of laser energy at possibly insignificant targets.

However, this technique is very wasteful. It shorts out an enemy shield grid by creating more energy output than the shield is capable of withstanding. Every bomb fired is 40.19x1015 more Joules gone (until we can figure out a way of recycling discharged weapons bursts or something), and if one of these compression bombs were to detonate while in a weapons hold, it'd rip its carrier vessel to shreds.

It would be nice if we could figure out a stable method of circumventing an enemy shield, rather than attacking it with brute force.

What we have here is a torp., a very powerful one. I'll start on the drawing board mondayish, I've had a lot of work lately (track, school, and my band are consuming all of my free time, I don't even get enough sleep.)

Why not just make a beam or something that sucks the shields from enemy ships into your shields?

A shield inversion beam? Christ, we're not romulans!

lol!

we have A.L.F. matrix technology, it can penetrate shields.

I don't see why not. It work. So what if a ship lacked four or five turbolasers. Who needs 'em when you have you enemies shields?

Can the A.L.F. be perfected? As it is, the weapon seems sort of dubious, and will no doubt spawn numerous OOC threads claiming that we're god-moding.

A.L.F.'s are for defense only or the aiding of a projectile to penetrate shields.

Name: Lance-class Torpedo
Combat Designation: Heavy Space Torpedo
Mission Profile: Capital Ship Shield Destruction Utility
Warhead Diameter: 1m
Torpedo Length (total): 3m
Sublight Speed: 200 MGLT (Modified Dreamweaver Ion Assault Engine)
Atmospheric Speed: 2,800 KPH
Consumables: 1 Hour Flight Battery
Hull Rating: 10 RU
Shielding: 400 SBD
Backup Shielding: 100 SBD
Weapons: 2 swivel lasers
Special: Shield Compensator, carbon-fibre armor, PM Tech, TS Lining, Metabolizer Self Destruct
Warhead Output: 40.19x1015Joules
Info:

The Lance-class torp., once near its target, separates into two parts, the warhead firing forward at 250 MGLT while the rear portion metabolizes into atoms. All of the sensors are stored in the rear portion. The warhead arms before colliding with its target, using sensors to aid it. The computer controlled swivel lasers are defensive only, attacking anything that attacks the torp.

Start: 12/15
Finish: 1/14

You can use "1015" to make 15 a superscript, like so:
1015
