View Full Version : Kendir walks and scans the training grounds...

Kendir walks into the clearing of the training grounds. He uses his Force to reach out amongst the trees and know he is not alone. Standing, he is a tall lithe figure of 6 feet, 2 inches. His black hair blows gently as the breeze of the Sith winds blows through it. His green eyes pierce the darkness. Not such the fool of undisicpline, he keeps his thoughts to himself and his lips quiet until he can know who it is lurking...

De'Ville walks up to her new apprentice, and shows him a light saber. "One day you might have one of these of your own." She smiled. "If you prove worthy I will allow you to train with a training saber. That will come later."

She clipped the saber to her belt, and tossed a small rock at him. "Throw that one at me as hard as you can. But there's a catch. Don't use your hands. The Force is a tool to be used, and you must learn how to use it."

Kendir looks at her, then at the rock. Envisioning the rock splitting apart her skull and exploding through trees beyond, he reaches out with his will. The rock however, fails to move. In a mocking laugh, Lady De'Ville laughs at him.

LD: "Surely one as strong willed as yourself can take that rock and throw it at me."

Kendir again reaches out summoning the Force. While most of the Force he has been able to apply to his own physical abitlities, this however eludes him. In less than a minute, Lady De'Ville has shown Kendir his first defeat. He gazes at her with his green eyes and simply says...

KK: "I, cannot."

She picked up a smaller rock with the Force and hit him in the shoulder with it. "You cannot? Feel the anger inside yourself. Sith are not defeated, Sith are powerful. Hated and full of hatred themselves." She threw another, larger rock at him, and he lifted his hand and blocked it.

De'Ville smiled at the tall apprentice, and walked over to him. She took the rock out of his hand, and cradled it in her own. "Envision the rock, and the life Force around it. Get a feel for it, a true feel of it, and try again. This time, just try and get it to move, even a little."

Kendir focuses on the rock. Then realizes the rock has no reference. Reaching out, he feels the nature of the Force, the energy fields among the dark trees, around his Master, and that of the univerese in the clearing. Suddenly, with perspective, the rock moves. With this new understanding, Kendir lifts the rock and throws it at Lady De'Ville.

Lady DeVille

She reached up and caught it in her hand before it hit her. "Good, very good. Now try with that one by your foot, the large one."

Kendir focused on the other rock. It was larger and heavier, but to him, it shouldn't be a matter of weight, just where it was to be in the universe as the Force could put it. It slowly raised. Sweat formed on his brow. Although his intelligence made the workings of the Force more of an ally, much still was beyond him and it required great effort. It wasn't so much that he couldn't figure what to do, but the reflex in doing it and trusting the Force was sometimes ellusive.

De'Ville walked back away from him, and watched him struggle to lift the rock. He had potential, but it would take some time to get him to realize it.

She snapped at him, "Do not trust the Force, use it! It is not a plaything, or a friend, it is not it that masters you, you are the one who will master it. In time it will obey you in all things!"

Walking up to him, De'Ville slapped him across the face. "Bring up your anger, and focus again! If you are able, feel the emotion in me, and draw upon that as well to fuel your power. It does not matter whether someone else's dark emotions are focused on you, or even what the cause is, just feel that they are there, inside you and others, and use them!"

Kendir's face barely turned from her slap though it split his lip. Nor did her words sting him like it might others. His heart had been broken and he had shut himself off from the others. THE OTHERS...His mind reeled at how quickly his heart grew stone cold. She was there lying lifeless in his arms, as the transposrts lifted off. They had lied about the drop point and their air cover wasn't enough. Too many groundtroops were lost and the investigation pointed to him in the cover up. He was the scapegoat. Nevermind that the Logistics officer covered for his own mistake. It was Kendir's own proton torpedo that had taken out the shuttle. The call was never made to change the signature from Imperial code to Rebellion. He was firing blind, and was ordered not to question. The planet's atmosphere prevented a visual and against his better judgement...he fired.

They wiped his R2 so he couldn't prove the order came before the order to change frequencies was diclosed. Too many deaths were on his hands, and his friends walked away.
They blamed him, others said they couldn't be involved. They turned his back on him. He would show them, he would show them they were wrong. But they didn't care, they couldn't care...THEY WOULDN'T CARE...

Feeling his anger grow...Kendir awash with the frustration of countless days, focused his mind on his Master. Her anger was not one of spiked emotion, but of an even coolness, a tempered power. He drew on it and being emotionally empty, her essence filled him. She commanded him. His meaningless suffering filled now with purpose, he would show her.

Something in his eyes flashed and the rock no longer wobbled. It rose off the ground and shot through the trees. Thunderous cracks ripped through the stillness as the rock plowed on through bark and brough. Trunks splintered, and leaves showered the ground.

His head slowly turned to her, and for the first time in a long time, he allowed himself more than a cursery glance at a woman. Many men had probably died for tkaing her in like this. But it was calculated and not lustful. He would learn to like her, no matter the pain she brought him.

He finally allowed his hand to wipe away the blood from his lip. But like was his nature, he said nothing.

De'Ville watched him look her over, and kept a smile hidden that threatened to cross her lips. His gaze neither embarrassed or angered her. When his eyes again met her own, she nodded.

"With the anger you found within you, and from within myself, you were able to gain greater results. It was an improvement." Her words were not meant to flatter, she simply told the truth as it was. "During our training sessions I will bombard you with many different techniques. When I see you have the basic princibles down, I will move on, building on what you have learned. You are expected to work on these skills on your own time.

"I have two other apprentices, and I will have a joint session at some point in time, when you are all ready. Until then I have to divide my time between all of you." She walked ten paces away, and turned and faced Kaasan.

"Using what you have learned with the rock, try and push me. Often crudely called Force Push, this telekinesis technique is more rightly described as creating a Force pressure wave. It will knock an opponent off his or her feet, and there are many uses for it."

Kendir raised his eyebrow and focused on himself. He needed to find the one link that could separate his pragmatic logical mind, to the one he needed to feel anger. Her instructions were to feel the anger and hatred flow through him. To be powerful, he needed to feel it all the time.

For now htough, experience would give way to thinking outside the box. She would expect the wave to be at least as big as she was. And with what Kendir could muster, it wouldn't do much. With that in mind he focused on a much smaller wave, about the size of the rock he sent to the nether-regions of the forest. Perhaps this would be more impressive. Feeling the Force flow through him, he tapped into his anger still fresh from the open wounds of his past. Feeling his power rise, he funneled it into a ball of energy and lt it go at her abdomen. He focused on seeing it hit her.

She felt the wave hit her, and it pushed her back a step. "Try again. You have the general princibles, now implement them in a useful way."

De'Ville stood with her legs slightly apart for balance, and waited as her apprentice concentrated. His anger level was jumpy, but control would come only in time.

Kendir hid the smirk from his face and clouded his thoughts. With each use he was getting more and more control over the Force. Implementing them in a useful way was what opened his mind to this. HE felt the hatred flow through him and this time, the blast was much more powerful.

Lady De'Ville could snse this time was different. The defense was going to require effort on her part. She saw him unleash it but strangely enough it never made it to her. Shaking her head she found frustration she saw the smug smile on his face.

Kendir wondered what punishment he would recieve if the tree actually fell on her. For once, he let a smle slip.

She feel the tremor in the Force above her, and she counteracts the push that her apprentice had used on the falling tree. Initiating her own pressure wave, and grappling with the tree with the Force, De'Ville lifts/pushes it back the other direction.

It fell finally, crashing down through smaller underbrush and letting up a large cloud of dust as it hit the ground. She turned to Kaasan, who was smirking. De'Ville pulled his legs out from under him with the Force, and spoke softly. "Very good. You do have a brain in there after all." She stayed where she was, but kept him pinned to the ground with the Force. "Now, watch me, and do what I do."

De'Ville allowed him to return to his feet, but as soon as he had both planted, she began a wave that threw him back against a tree, shaking twigs down on his head.

Kendir slammed into the tree. His body went limp and before he hit, he concentrated on slowing his impact. It may have worked but dazed, Kendir was left to wonder. So she responded as he knew she would. In some ways, he would prove to her just how much punishment he could take. Getting up to his feet, his gaze settled on her eyes and he waited."

A twig seemed to float up in front of him, and then it raked him across the face. "Now do the same to me. Feel your anger! Control it, but use it!"

Kendir relaxes letting the aura and Force of the Sith Training Ground flow through him. He feels its surge and his eyes open wide then narrow. His brow furrows as he unleashes a blast. He wasts no motion on acting. But his stance shows aggression.

The wave hit her at waist level, knocking her backward. De'Ville flipped up, and turned her fall into an acrobatic handspring, landing neatly on her feet. "Very good. You are progressing well."

In a mocking tone, Kendir says "Oh, but I aim to please Mistress De'Ville."

His tone turns serious though as he speaks again. "there is much I need to learn. For many months I have practiced not being able to feel. Now, to that, I must unlearn."

His gaze turns to her reply...

Lady DeVille

"To be powerful you mut feel the hate and anger inside you and inside others. You must never be in the control of your feelings, they must obey you, just as the Force will obey you." She juggled three small rocks in the air in front of her.

"There is much you will learn, and you will learn it. But first, I must know about your past, not details, you can sicken the bartenders with those. But tell me about your fighting skills and experience, and your force experience, if any."

Kendir looked at her and then started to attune his control of the Force much like he felt hers. Whether or not she helped him he didn’t know. Instead of telling her, he thought about the battles he’d been in. He had two X-Wings, one shot out from under him. The second lay in camoflauge on the planet. He certainly didn’t expect his approach to be hidden, but for whatever reason, he knew no one had disturbed his X-Wing. She learned of his use of the Force, more as a warning and ability to predict events seconds or short periods of time before they happened. His physical stature was heightened as well, his training enhanced by the Force. Though his skills were ignorant at best, he did have an aura of power.

The images played through his mind and he could sense an intrusion, nothing fightening, just that Lady De’Ville was pulling what she needed from his mind. Changing his thoughts, his mind played like a holoreel. All the training, the ops, and the missions he’d flown. All in the name of honor and peace. Then, the last mission came to his mind and with a violent jerk, he snapped out of his trance and glared at her. He was hiding the death of his love from Lady De’Ville and wondered just how much he had allowed her to sense.

“An accomplished pilot. Not as natural as Antilles, but certainly one of the better. Your hand-to-hand combat is good. Not much more than the basics, but as a pilot, you didn’t need much more. I, of course, will beat your lessons into you.”

She mused over his gaze. The glare wasn’t meant to be a sign of aggression, rather outward dismay over his lack of control. She smiled at him. Although stoic, and emotionally cool, Kendir could show a sign or two of weakness.”

She put her hand under his chin and twisted his neck so his eyes met hers. “In time you will show me the rest of your affairs. Or, I will rip them from your mind. I’ll leave you to decide.”

“As you wish”, Kendir replied

She let go of his face, leaving a small red mark on his jawline that slowly faded. She had been bluffing about the 'ripping from his mind' part. Her abilities in the area of Mind Control were average at best. But what he didn't know she could use against him...should she need to. De'Ville cracked her neck, and beckoned him closer.

"We should work on your hand to hand combat. Attack me. Use the Force if you want to, but lets focus on the physical right now."

Kendir studied her for a minute, then realizing there was no graceful way he wouldn’t be made an example of, he attacked. His left hand threw out towards her head as his right countered through the feint for a blow to her midsection.

Reflexively, De'Ville moved her head to the side to avoid the feint, but realized her mistake in time to block the blow to her midsection with her forearm.

Grabbing his left wrist, she twists hard, pulling him around, and throwing him over her hip to the ground. She backed off, showing a little mercy, allowing him to rise. "I am disobeying my own guidelines. Remember to always attack -those who attack need not defend."
