Well so was mine, it was about $700 million or so. Despite what someone else said, lol, it wasn't $1 billion. BUT on Yahoo I think like 50% of the voters thought it would make that. I guess that is the ONLY way you could be disappointed with $431.1 million huh?! lol.

I knew nothing about the box office back then, but now many of us are box office experts. Darth23, you are obviously a box office expert, and my research and writing has helped me become one too. We all understand the box office well.

My prediction for TPM was based on this, haha:

TPM is going to be way better than Titanic, so it should make more money, and Star Wars is bigger, so it should make more.

That's not exactly a science there, it's more an emotional vote ;)

I have to wonder...

What if AOTC opens with $90 million or so? Are we all going to be thinking, "Why the heck did TPM 'only' make $64.8 million?!"

I think I could name a lot of the reasons for that gross, but it would kind of make you scratch your head.

For the life of me, I can't remember. I probably would have expected it to make about the same that ESB or ROTJ did, adjusted for inflation.

I can't remember either, but I had $100 riding on the fact that it was going to beat Titanic. She kept accusing me of trying to put TPM past Titanic myself after seeing it 20+ times!

I remember that, Dutchy, because I predicted $440 million and I was watching the numbers all the way into September hoping against hope that it would get closer to my prediction. Oh, well. You da man! :rolleyes

I think I thought it would between 450-480 that is what I started thinking about a month before the movie. I just didn't think it was possible for a summer movie to make more than that or any film.
