starwars.com is pleased to announce that Star Wars: Episode II Attack of the Clones is the full title for the next Star Wars film, scheduled for release in 2002.
Attack of the Clones joins The Phantom Menace, A New Hope, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi as chapter titles in the six-episode Skywalker saga. It harkens back to the sense of pure fun, imagination and excitement that characterized the classic movie serials and pulp space fantasy adventures that inspired the Star Wars saga.

Ten years after the events of The Phantom Menace, not only has the galaxy undergone significant change, but so have our familiar heroes Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor), Padmé Amidala (Natalie Portman) and Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) as they are thrown together again for the first time since the Trade Federation invasion of Naboo. Anakin has grown into the accomplished Jedi apprentice of Obi-Wan, who himself has transitioned from student to teacher. The two Jedi are assigned to protect Padmé whose life is threatened by a faction of political separatists. As relationships form and powerful forces collide, these heroes face choices that will impact not only their own fates, but the destiny of the Republic.

With the pulp sci-fi theme of the other titles (minus TPM, which was just....vague), I'd say AoTC fits just fine into the saga's naming strategy. Its not like they want it to sound like a thread at SWFans....its supposed to be like that. Guess I'm just the kind to appreciate a little cheese on my work of art...for flavor.

2.)Attack of the Clones: Gay! George Lucus Most have Been REALLY high off some paint fumes to think this one up.

4.) A New Hope: Good, talks about new hope and such...*cough*
5.) The Empire Strikes Back: If you think about it, it also sounds kinda of... cheesy, we are just use to the title, that is all.
6.) Return of the Jedi: THERE WAS NEVER ORIGINALITY! Jaws Returns! SOUNDS THE SAME! Return of Luke, Return of the Guy with the Lightsaber! WE ARE JUST SO USE TO IT!
THINK ABOUT IT! He is BRAINWASHING US!

Actually FMH, you have a very good point there!

I never thought of ESB as a dodgy title for a film because I know how great the film is. In that case, perhaps this film will follow suit! :)

ESB and AOTC are both really bad names but there is, seemingly, a method to Lucas's madness!

I don't think there's anything at all wrong with the title "Empire Strikes Back", except that perhaps it should have "The" in front of it.

"The Phantom Menace" is at least ambiguous and subtle: It could be interpreted many different ways. "Attack of the Clones" is neither. It's utter crap. It is, in fact, one of the worst titles I've ever heard for a movie.

I think Fett demonstrated the point perfectly: It is niether creative, nor have any of the movies with similar titles been worth snot.

SW titles are cheesy, but that title is off the chart on the cheesy meter..

I thought Phantom Menace sounded like a Scoopy Doo episode or something, but at least there was a bit of mystery in the title. This one sounds like some kind of Zombie B-movie from the eighties, but worst of all, it is very, very uninspiring indeed.
