Is building a Republic Senate a good idea?

Well I leave you with this. I have ran through all of the boards and thought they were quite well made and maintained. I was just wondering would it be neat to actually have a Republic Senate going on, explain why or why not in the poll <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/image/emoticons_classic/smile.gif ALT=":)">

Well, what do your mean when you say "what will it consist"?

If you mean Senators, Senators will represent all New Republic controled and maintaned planets. Possibly a storyline where a Senator representing a GE planet, not known by the Republic, and is supporting the enemies against the Senate. Though this is not confirmed as anything.

I've tried such things before...and unfortunately it didn't work. Nobody wanted to add bureocracy to their RP, even though it is a good idea.

I have talked to many people about that exact same subject. Not many people wanting to roleplay Senators, and add the Senate in general to their roleplays. Though I think it is a kewl way to do things.

One example, you are the Senator of Kashyyk your son as well as many other Wookies on the planet have been captured by a Trandoshan Bounty Hunter from the neighboring planet. Some wookies seen stripped of their furcoats and been hanged on high limbs of trees. The Senator must contact Jedi Knights or Masters to stop this almost genocide killing of the planet's wookies. And, in the end the Senator is working with the Trandoshan bounty hunters and has been all along. And, he only did it to get the Wookie population upset and scared to revote him back as their Senator, from the ways he is helping them through the fighting. Like, he was calling them back when Wookie Scouts were formed. It is almost limitless what you can do with Senators, almost more limitless than with a Jedi themselves. ;)

Unfortunately no. I tried this about a year ago. Its swallowed up by the sands of time, I think. My senator's name was Paelotu.

I love the idea. I don't think that just because it failed before it means it'll fail again, or we shouldn't try. I'd make another character for it.

It'd give my character a power to answer to, since he somewhat works for the Republic. Plus it'd give the Jedi more purpose. All they do now is fight random Sith. Jedi help people in need, a Senate would give them someone to save.

Just so you know. And I will be from Trogan, home of the Whistler's Whirlpool, where Talon Karrde met with several other smugglers in the Thrawn trilogy.

Trogan is a planet now involved with Trade, and so Hamoniu will be on the interplanetary trade committee, involved in everything from importing water to Tattooine (do they do that? ;) ) to creating trade embargos on renegade planets. Not that that happens often...although I'm thinking that trade with TGE owned planets would be needed. Lets not forget the Cizerack and others.
