I saw it, I saw it! Oh my god it was better than a Tom Cruise movie! The fellowship people and then the swords and the guys and those white hands and then they're like "ahhhh" and then Gandalf LET'S GO! I cried at that part. And then that ranger dude, i think his name was Aragon, he is so cool! And Gollam! He was soo awesome! And that fire demon thingny! And then those little hobbit guys got taken by the hand things and Sam and Frodo leave and then the ranger dude is like "something, something, my brother, something" and it was so sad! Then the guy in the boat and the waterfall and I cried again. And the evil guy! ooooh I hated him! Bilbo got all scary, that was cool and that blonde haired elfe guy who is in the fellowship just kicks major hand-guy ass! It was the best movie I have ever seen! Oh what about those weird guys on the horses! The ones that keep folowing the little hobbits! And the cool blue sword! And Arwen was so awesome even though she doesn't have a big part, and then her and the ranger dude. Oh it was so good!

I read th ebook 9 years ago in 6th grade,...i can't beleive it's been 9 years! I'm getting old. Anyways, I didn't remember a lot about them and then I saw the movie and I started remembering all these things. Gollum is the best character...he's so cute!

I read a review today that made me mad. This chick reporter went to the movie, and had the audacity to complain that there weren't enough women's roles in the film, and that the two that were only had ten minute parts, and were forced to look beautiful and talk like phone sex operators. She said that was why the books/movie only appealed to 12-18 year old boys. Teenaged boys, she said, were the main audience and the main lovers of Tolkien.
Goodness where do these femi-nazis get off disrespecting the greatest fantasy literary work of ALL TIME? Doesn't she know that Eowyn is ALSO a girl, and she kicks major ass? Of course, we don't get to see HER until the second movie. That review made me mad.
Although she said something good, she said that it is harad to convey a book onto the screen, but MUCH harder to convey the love of a book. Which Peter Jackson managed to do.

Darn it... even Gollum gets more women than I do. I can't tell if I need to be better looking or more deformed. :|

Eowyn is a cool character. She also has quite a substantial role in Return of the King, if memory serves me correctly.

LOTR is one of the best movies I have ever seen. The filming was awesome! I loved it! What was really great was how it really stayed true to the books. It was one of the only movies I've ever seen that was worthy of the book it was based on.

Absolutely awsome movie! Saw it opening day!
Gawd, I absolutely loved Rivendelle and the Woods of Lothlorien. I'd love to live there or vacation there or even honeymoon there! So peaceful! Not to mention the Elves are COOOOOOL!

They need to remake the Hobbit. (remake as in saying, kill the cartoon and make a live action movie)
Then everyone would know where the giant eagle is from.

Rumor has it that, if the LOTR films are successful and well received (which has held true thus far), Peter Jackson will consider filming 'The Hobbit' in a few years.
As for the negative review mentioned by DeVille... to criticize the film, within the realm of Peter Jackson's interpretation is one thing, and may be valid in some cases. However, to criticize Tolkien's work directly is pretty much useless... he's regarded as one of the finest English-language writers, and the Lord of the Rings trilogy is regarded in many literary circles to be the greatest authored work of the 20th Century. The books are immune to the wanton ramblings of the ignorant.
I find the statement about Tolkien's fan base to be interesting, considering:
1) The books were first published 50 years ago.
2) According to New Line Cinema, other demographics have, individually, contributed to more viewings of the film than the '12-18 male' group.
Gotta love those "make 'em up as I go" type of facts that some reporters subsist upon.
