What are the rules for force users here? Where can I have questions answered about arrival on this planet? Are only certain people allowed to carry light-sabers?

Well, the codes of conduct in terms of Force usage differs on the lightside and the darkside. Actual "powers" depend on what you believe is canon. Some believe EU is canon, some people just the movies. Questions can be answered here. I guess anyone could carry a lightsaber, although I would imagine only a Force-user would have the skills to make one.

Probably. I mean, think how many vendors would be selling lightsabres as antiques or something like that.

I would think a non-force user would be harmless with a lightsaber. He'd most likely amputate one of his own limbs rather than defend himself with it. And anyway, I doubt there are that many ownerless lightsabers circulating in the marketplaces.

I dont know about that, sword masters can swing blades fast enough to pick arrows out of the air. Not a blaster bolt, but hey. You also have to remember these blade masters use weapons which do have weight. Unlike the lightsaber.

Just think of how fast can you swing a flashlight.

But lightsabres have a highly gyroscopic effect. They actually DO have weight and smoe rather bizarre handling effects. They are NOT lightswords, but plasma weapons. They react and are affected by drag and the gyroscopic effect.

Still, its like switching from a chinese style "floppy" sword to a hard edged Katana, different style, but people can adapt

(edit) Took me a second. Lightsabers, as the name applys are fairly simple to create. Made from common tools.
You have a energy source,, conduction wires, gems,
focusing lens and the stuff. They are high heat lazor beam projected out. The crystillne matrix of the sword is what gives it life. Its not plasma. If it was plasma, it would leave residue, some sort of substance. They are controlled beams of energy.

Incorrect. They are indeed plasma, as plasma is simply a superheated state of matter, beyond the gaseous form. You can see evidence of this by taking the wiring box off a neon sign, and arranging the two metal wires parallel to each other. When switched on, a beam of glowing yellow light will lazily climb up and down the path between the wires. It is an electrical current, but set at such an amazingly high voltage to excite the air molecules around it to convert to plasma. You can tell by the fairly acrid ozone smell. If you insert something, such as a piece of cardboard, into the path of the plasma arc, it will definitely sever it with a cutting burn.

Its the same physics as a lightsaber, except air is excited by a focused light source. The only difference is that the plasma is bound in a magnetic bottle.

I remember now, I made plasma balls in a mircowave with a friend before, same thing, just that at the time, I was thinking plasma as blood plasma. (blood drive at school) and I was not allowing my mind to expand. I had closed it down after a very tedious day at school.
