HELP!

I'm almost ready to gratiduate Jr. High, and then I go to the High School. I'm nervous. Could someone tell me how you guys survived the Senior's and their little "Initiations". If they do that where you guys live...

Right now I am working on surviving my first year of college. Trust me, high school is no big deal at all. As long as you stay out of the way of the jerks and don't act immature, you won't have any problems. Trust me. :]

Just relax...I remember being terrified of what the seniors were going to do...I plotted all summer. And then I refused to do any of the little tasks they gave me... it caught them off gaurd but I don't recommend it....after the first couple days off the hook I ended up tied to a locker in the shower room. Completely nude. For three periods. Then I managed to borrow my friends gym clothes. But by then a poloroid had been taken. Thank God High School is over...although senior year was fun. Ooops...guess I should be reassuring not telling horror stories...Don't worry, It'll be fine.

Hmm... I never had much problems with the higher ups... mostly because they are scared of me.. *Don't ask.*
But really all the movies are BS.. its all good the only thing you really have to worry about is grades or if you get on there bad side.. they seem to go in groups..

Nothing Ever happened to me. Being taller then 50% of the rest of the school could account for that.

Eh, Freshman year isn't as bad as it's made out to be, most of the time, though there are exceptions. Just don't try too hard to stay out of everybody's way, and don't be afraid to stick up for yourself. Most of the upper classmen really don't care about the lower classes,a nd are usually content to hang out and talk amongst themselves.

Just don't piss anybody off early, that's always a bad thing. More often than not, nobody really has big problems their freshman year. Well, at least nobody I know did.

Well, I'm homeschooled, but I can help. I went to 8th grade for while, then dropped out to homeschool. Because the teachers sucked and weren't expanding my mind. I want to go to college before the normal age, so I need a fast paced program. Since I had to record to prove my intellegence, being homeschooled all my life, I couldn't get in any AT classes, which is advanced. I did however have an 110 math average when I was in 8th. I'm in 9th now.

When I first got there, everyone picked on me. That changed VERY quickly. I'm a pretty big guy. Not exactly tall, but strong. First day of football practice, this guy wanted to get in my face and tell me I had no chance of being QB. He grabbed my facemask and everything, and threatened me.... well, I didn't get in a fight, but I did give him a scare. Next day, he was being buddy buddy with me. Plus, I threw two back to back touchdown passes in practice the next week, 40 yards in the air. So I got a cool nickname and respect.

Just stand up for yourself and don't feel threatened. Bullies can smell fear, so don't be afraid. Be cool and friendly, they won't have anything to pick on.

I average at math myself, I excel in reading. Writing, err... my biggest problem is my mind works faster then I can type. I Also think myself as a "Planner" I come up with the idea, and let others do the work. I can never carry out my plans... never.

Here is advice though, if your a awesome sports star, an ogre (term up here for being really tall) or popular (Like know people in highschool already) ,then you really have nothing to worry about. But if you are just average at sports, (JV or swing players) and a generally unknown, then be warned. Here's hopping you live in a more... advanced part of the country. If you live in any of the follow area's be prepared for trouble:

The Lower South (rural areas)
All of the Mid-West
Most of the East Coast (excluding the New England States)
Any Redneck territories.
anywhere that Cow-Tipping is a popular past time.
And
Any town that was more then 3 Log Houses. Made from real Logs.

And now, I will answer questions.

Well, I live down south. So that's not exactly true. Plus, a lot of the girls liked me, and they didn't have a clue about my football abilities. And I wasn't really a jock either, although I was "in" a jock social structure sometimes. Although I usually hung out with what was considered the geeks, because I liked them better. And I stuck up for some of them, if need be. It's all an attitude, really. Walk around with your head held high, your shoulders straight, and a stride of confidence in your walk. People will pick on you though, be warned. You'll be the new kid, it is bound to happen, just don't let it defeat you. Keep being yourself. All the time, people shout obscene words at me and my brother, when we walk around. In fact, we've been in maybe about 10 confrontations in the last 6 months. Yet, we never had to fight, they've always backed down. That's the truth with most bullies, they back down.

BUT, DO NOT be a tough guy, or a hero. If someone's bigger than you, don't try and fight them. In fact, I stupify most imbeciles so badly, they don't want to fight me. They want to go home and look in their dictionaries. Yeah, on these boards I don't use too fancy of words, but in real life I spin things like a poet. Use your brain to convince bullies that their doing the wrong thing, and that their actions are without reason. Then they might not beat you up, if they're the kind that backs their stuff up with fists.

One time, a pair of punks, were eerked by the fact my smaller friend was "looking" at them. They meant to fight him, but me and my brother jumped in and defended him. My friend did the smart thing and ran off, expecially considering his size. But me and my brother convinced them they were acting the fool, and they backed off. It's odd how if you address a bully with reason and logic, they'll back down.

BTW, I made almost all 100s in English as well, especially the creative writing. And history I stunk at. The teacher was an inept woman though. She was stuck up and often was late for class. She even made people remember her dog's name, then asked it for a pop quiz. INSANE. Tech 2000, kind of a computer class, was a very good class for me. Very high grades there. Science was good for me too.

Okay....freshman year for me last year was pretty good. Don't worry about the upperclassmen. They are more talk than anything else. In fact, most of my friends are seniors but that is because everyone in my class is immature. Most everyone knows that I am almost a blackbelt in Tae-Kwon-Do...so no one messes with me a lot. I have had to get some of my friends out of sticky situations....but that is about all. There were no real initiations or anything. Like everyone else said, just play it cool and be yourself. Don't be obnoxious or try to avoid particular people. Just be one of the guys in the crowd and you'll make it just fine. Now sophomore year....what a trip. That is when it gets really fun! *sarcasm* No, seriously, what you see in the movies is just a bunch of crap. Oh yeah, enjoy your last bit of eight grade....that is like, the best year! I love my eighth grade year...it was really really awesome. Then highschool hit...it was like, a reality check. You'll like it bro, trust me.

Hrm... the seniors all thought I was a sophomore my Freshman year.

Two reasons for that: Height, and attitude. I'd been ping-pong through the school system prior to middleschool, and so I didn't like school in the least. I was grumbly, intelligent, and not wide eyed or really too curious at all. The moment I got there I wanted to leave.

My main sign of "freshman" was that I didn't really know where things were the first few days. After I was aquainted with the geographical layout, I was fine.

As a Senior I did not like wide eyed bouncy kids who thought highschool was a big deal (which it isn't). Its the same old thing with vending machines, cars, sex, and some drugs (not that much at my school, thankfully. The drugs. If I had said sex I would have been lying).

Highschool is four more years of school, but if you play it right (doing well academically) you can get a free ride through college.

Hey Sage, I can beat that story with many of my own. My 8th grade health teacher often pretended to be a uterus, and would stick her arms out and wave them and go, "these are my fallopian tubes!" And one day, when we were supposed to do a pig heart disection, she forgot to let them thaw overnight and put them all in the staff microwave. Needless to say, microwaving a pig heart isn't a good idea. That was a mess, let me tell ya folks.

Then this other teacher I had sophomore year (strangely enough, also a health teacher) had the class final on Sinefeld instead of STDs. Go figure.

This other lady in my high school was this little witchy man-hater, and seriously flunked all of the boys in her class just for being male. Moral of the story here is that sometimes the teachers are just as immature as the students.

My main advice is to take advantage of clubs and sports and outside of school activities. You really make some cool friends. I was in the colorguard, the web page crew, and helped out in the kitchen. Now when I go back to visit, the kitchen ladies all still love me. Oh, that's another thing. Make friends with the secretaries, don't disrespect them. They will give you favors later, like not marking you 30 minutes late for class, or letting you look up friend's schedules. :]

Meh. I'm in grade 12. I'm gradding this year. Yippee for me. Only about 2-2 1/2 months left...EXCELLENT. This one girl terrorized me in 8th grade. Tried to push me down a double flight of stairs and push me out in front of a bus. She ended up...leaving...by principals choice, of course. The rest of my years were a breeze. I've spent five years at this school and i'm finally gonna be done!! Yahoo!

Being a Senior now, I get around and now most. Dear Lord I did not start like that..

Backstory: I am in the Band. I play drums. Only are 3 white drummer out of 27 at almost any given time. teh rest are black. I am good at my drums. I got a Marching snare spot my Freshmen year . that doesn't happen often. Most freshmen play in the pit (triangle and stuff) or march cymbols. Me and my friend got to play snare. He was big and black. I was skinny and white. Guess who was beat up everyday? After 3 months or marching and being forced to do ungodly amounts of push-ups, I snapped. One of them pushed me and I broke a blood vessel in his finger with my drumstick. Then I body slamed him. The next day some upper-class men were picking on me. They were laughing at the hoody I wore that said "Drumline" on it. Then tehy stopped. I looked behind me to see 26 people behind me. Then me and the Drumline jumped them for jumping me. I stood up for myself and had people to back me up.

After 4 years I get along with black people better than white. Strange here in SC, but it works. I get along with all the Red Neck as well.

The moral: Don't take @#%$ and make friends. And don't stick out. Be one of them.

Dude I don't know why everyone is always in such a hurry to get out of school. Not that I don't like my life-- I have like the best day every day. But I'd rather be in a classroom than my hole in the wall apartment. And they don't tell you about all the @55holes out there that make HS bullies look like elementary school kids. I find it harder out of school than in. And I'm not even going to attempt college at the moment because it would be impossible for me to find time. Life is way more hectic once you graduate. Just enjoy HS. It's a blast.

Hmmm, am I the only one that didnt have a messed up school life? I mean sure, I got into a few fights, but thats about it.
Never was in the "in" Crowd, never in the "Out" Crowd. I was myself. I never tried to act cool either. Sure, that kept me from being invited to many parties, but O well, I hung with my friends, we goofed off, and had fun. Most of my friends are like me. Just normal people. Act yourself, and you have nothing to worry about.

Only thing I have to worry about is trying to find a College to go to... Bah, I wish I was a little kid again, So I can fix some of the mistakes I made.

(Mistakes I made)
Should of stayed with Basketball, I use to play on a Team in elementary. Stopped for reasons unknown.

In Middle School, I should of tried out for Kicker on Football Team. My Dad (Who played Football through College) told me I would of made a good Kicker.

In Highschool, I should of Joined the Broadcasting Group 1 year before I did. Its a great group.

O well, If I did all that, I dont think I would ever of come here.

My school life wasn't messed up. I loved school. There was just that one locker incident. I was, I hate to say it, one of the "popular" people. I don't know why 'cause I just used to hang out with people I liked, but everyone knew me. But see, the thing is that there are these really really nice people that others say aren't cool (but they actually are really fun) and then those people used to think that I thought that, but I didnt, I just didn't know them at the time. So they hated me for being popular and no matter what I did, they got mad. If I was nice they thought I was being sarcastic. If I had a bad day and snapped at someone they would smirk and nod to each other. That's the only thing I hated about school. The social structure. It makes people seem so immature. Just hang with people ya like. okay so, my little spiel is over. I'm going back to my script.

And I found soemthing interesting out...Most of the seniors around are kinda scared of me. One of my friends in HS spread the word that I have a small collection of blades, and that they are sharpened on a regular basis and are there for me to deal with my problems...Wonder what kind of reaction they're going to have when they see a little shrimp w/ glasses be the one they heard had the blades...

If u dont get my question..its like this my school is 2A which means we have like 200 people in the entire high school from 9th to 12th which is small there are some schools with 200 people in just one class so..thats what i mean by how big is your school.

The sad thing is I don't have any storys about getting bet up...Thank GOD. Its been a slow year. Might just be because I've been at the same school sense third grade and all the poplar people got sick of picking on me in 6th grade. So now I'm friends with everyone...pretty much.

ooc--I'm back...I have way to much free time when Im not doing this.
