God Moding

Hello this post is for everyone in general. I have not personally had a complaint but IM going to talk about the subject anyway. I hear this complaint "Your God Moding" all the time I see it in thread after countless thread. Well, since no one seems to know what God Moding is I will explain it with what information I know about the subject. God Moding is acting like a God. Knowing something your character shouldn't know. Having an ability or power that your character shouldn't have. In other words all powerful our all knowing.

Third totally ignoring someone's post to make your character look good or ignoring a hit. This does not count if you have a dispute. Everyone has those, it is not God Moding to question a post. Well, Duh. A prime Example was the Fett Enterprise's where one character claimed to know where a Jedi was hiding and what other character's where thinking.
Fourth doing more that 3 moves in an attack is not allowed. If you want to allow extra moves or abilities in a fight where two parties agree is also OK. Also Rookies doing the moves that only a master can do is God Moding. For Instance my character is fast I have Rped this out in detail so I did not spring it on anyone. But to be fair I also have made a mistake pointed out to me by Turbogeek. While fighting Lochabre I used acid against him and he pointed out to me that that was out of character knowledge, he was right. I would have deleted but he graciously accepted the attack and moved on. Though he was correct. People also have to remember that this is a game. If you can live with what someone has posted against you then do so. Not everybody knows each and every character and there particular attribute neither should you expect them to. I have only posted this to clarify up what God Moding is. If anyone has any thing to add to make this any clearer or if I have left anything out feel free to add

i have read the fett enterprise thread also and the one person who "seemed to know everything" wasn't god moding. I have seen Ulic's character before and he very good at detecting others, even those ccloaked in the force and he is also good at mind probing. He did mind probe one of the fetts but stopped and said nothing after they replied and told about there helmets so that was a bad example.

I think that assuming something about someone else is a bad thing. If you know something OOC, you should keep it that way until you learn it IC. Such as.......probing others thoughts. As a Jedi, this is easy....but if someone says they have a telepathic block and you do it anyway, ignoring that.....that is God Moding I think. Others have done that to me and I have nicely mentioned it. This is a good topic as long as everyone speaks with some education on the subject and just doesn't come in here to start a fight. Definition of God Moding - Anything that defies Common Sense or Fair Play. No killing and no Maiming are covered in the other two Golden Rules. One example is indeed using OOC knowledge for IC purposes.


I will also make one point - if the thread doesnt involve you, then dont comment about if someone is Moding. Complaints about such are for the players directly involved to complain about and / or for an Admin to view and intervene. And Admin call is final.

If for instance Anbira and DT decide to blast fireballs out of their ass, this is normally clearly moding. However, if they have agreed between each other that's acceptible and it affects no one else, then it is fine.

Very experienced players also gain a certain amount of leeway as well.

Hullo everyone...iwoud like to know just one thing. Whichone of you went over to the Eye of the Dragon board and looked over the thread with me and Dalamar fighting......and said we were god modding. I wanna know just what exactly we were god modding at......it all seems fair and legal to me.

Remember, this is just a simple and nice request....i do not want to start a fight.

Hello vampyre. Ya im not Ulic. If you would have read the post more clearly i have said that i have seen him before. I didn't say with this character so you are very wrong about me being Ulic. And if you noticed no one complained about anything in that thread so you really do need to leave things alone if they don't involve you. The only reason i posted was cause you had no clue what Ulic was all about nore did you need to post a complaint when the thread dosen't concern you.

God Moding is having a character do something he shouldn't be able to do. Also, having a character pop up, able to do magnificent feats, is pushing the limits. Even if you've seen his character do something amazing, if doesn't mean anything unless he had training or progressed these skills in a RPing realistic manner. For instance, I make a new character called Joe Bob The Magician. He shoots a fireball out of his mouth(go with me on this). Now, he's never demonstrated being able to shoot fireballs. But if I posted that maybe he tried to shoot a fireball and failed, then later in another post say he shot a tiny fireball, then in yet another thread say he finally shot a big one, that might be more acceptable. This is character progression. You shouldn't start at point E and skip A through D.

This isn't a complaint on anyone's post, because I didn't read anything after Anbira said he'd handle it to Avolon. Just trying to help any newcomers reading who are oblivious to the way us Star Wars Roleplayers do things. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/image/emoticons_classic/smile.gif ALT=":)">

BTW, I once had a god moding character who was a Force Master starting off. I have since seen the error in my ways. So anyone who has god moded, it's not too late to change. No one will raise an eyebrow if suddenly you're character drops in power. Okay Colar lets put two and two together. You Invent a character on the day I post this thread so you can answer me? A coincidence I think not. As far as the thread goes how do you now if it concerns me. Far as you know I am JuJu. Not saying that I am. But you never know. As for voicing my opinion I never named the guy you did you brought attention to that character. He was only used as an example. I don't have to have a clue what he's about only what he does. Like seeing a cloaked Jedi behind a tree, and reading the mind of anyone he wants to. Walking around like he's the Emperor of the world. You want to say he's an all right guy well that's fine. You want to say he's not God Moding get a clue. As for voicing my opinion about the thread its my God given right to voice my Patriotic American opinion just like you. Pause's to salute the Flag and listen to "God Bless America" In my opinion he GOD MODED. You don't like my opinion then why don't you stay out of my thread. I thought I had made it clear what would be tolerated here.

I really dont give a @#%$ -DO-NOT-SWEAR--DO-NOT-SWEAR--DO-NOT-SWEAR--DO-NOT-SWEAR--DO-NOT-SWEAR- who started what and I dont care where. I made it perfectly clear what Admin stance was and after that I clearly see it's being taken further.

If you have a problem with someone with something that happened off this board, you KEEP it off this board.
