Compromising Situations

[Seyxer Kose]

Zaarcon Consortium building, Arcan City. 7:00 PM

In a spartan meeting room, Ingas Haarburker arranged a rather lengthy portfolio. His client would expect him to meet with Blake Hawke soon, and preparations were at last concluding.

[Blake Hawke]

Blake glanced at her crono as she piloted Rev to the appointed building.

* Ten minutes late, way to go Hawke.*

At this point she didn't really care. The deprivation of sleep for the past four days didn't do much to improve her mood. And there was this damn headache. No matter what she took it wouldn't go away. Sighing, she exited her ship and entered the building.

"Alright, I'm here. Let's get this going."

[Seyxer Kose]

Haarburker nodded.

"Please do not be tardy next time, Miss Hawke."

Adjusting his tie, the lawyer continued.

"Mister Kose has expressed interest in hiring you as a broker for some...expensive orders."

[Blake Hawke]

"Hey...I get here when I get here. This meeting's not the only thing on my agenda. I had a really big deal that was almost compromised by my coming here. You can inform Mister Kose that he's not going to contact me the day before a meeting and expect me to be there the minute he demands. I have a business to run. Now...would you care to elaborate on these orders?"

[Seyxer Kose]

"There is a Hutt cartel that holds large stockpiles of glitterstim spice on Nal Hutta. It is, I believe, the second largest stockpile, with the exception of Kessel, of course. And due to recent political upheaval, it isn't feasible to arrange for a shipment from there. Therefore, you will go to Nal Hutta in Mister Kose's stead, and purchase precisely three and a half million credits worth of the product."

Haarburker paused, sipping a glass of water.

"You are eligible for a one percent commission, of course."

[Blake Hawke]

"Ten percent...And I'm not representing anyone until I meet them."

[Seyxer Kose]

"Mister Kose has considered the task at hand, and is adamant on one percent."

[Blake Hawke]

"I don't like Hutts. We...don't get along. Kose can be as adament as he wants but I won't do it for less than ten percent."

[Seyxer Kose]

"That was anticipated, of course. But you owe Mister Kose, it seems. You are conspiring with one of his competitors, and in some very nefarious matters."

Haarburker slid a portfolio to Blake. Inside, were pictures of her and Sanis Prent, meeting at his club on Coruscant. Audio files were also included, with Blake proposing something very unpleasant to be done to another person.

"Mister Kose expresses his concern in such a compromising situation. He wishes to extend to you a chance to vindicate yourself. In light of such things, a one percent commission is gracious on Mister Kose's part. Hutts, or not hutts."

[Blake Hawke]

"I don't owe ]Mister Kose anything. Yes, I have been discussing some business with Mr.Prent. That's none of his concern. I don't have to do this. I can walk out right now, and you can find someone else for the job. If I did, it would mean sacrificing a hell of a lot more than he's offering."

[Seyxer Kose]

"And if this compromising information found its way to law enforcement authorities, you would be facing serious conspiracy charges, Miss Hawke. My client does not wish for such things to be processed, so he considers such a token act by you to be enough compensation to keep this information from being released."

[Blake Hawke]

"The authorities already know. I have a runner back at the office with a wire, and I'm betting she's been sent by Cline. Kose can tell who he wants but everybody knows already. So you see, he really has nothing to bargain with."

[Seyxer Kose]

"Then you are involved in a scheme to incriminate Mister Prent? I suppose that in itself is a suitable form of payment.

Very well. You will have your ten percent."

[Blake Hawke]

Blake smiled. "Good. By the way...just because I know what goes on in my own office doesn't mean I'm selling Prent out. They're trying to get me too. But that's not important right now."

[Seyxer Kose]

"I suppose it is not."

Haarburker smiled.

"Very well. Then we are in agreement?"

[Blake Hawke]

Blake nodded. "Yea, I guess so. When do you want me to leave?"

[Seyxer Kose]

"Tomorrow morning will be sufficient."

[Blake Hawke]

"Okay. That it?" Blake asked already heading for the door.

[Seyxer Kose]

"That shall suffice. You shall leave for Nal Hutta tomorrow morning. Good Evening, Miss Hawke"

Haarburker organized his briefcase, and left the room.

Blake couldn't help but laugh. What had she gotten into? She swallowed a few pills and followed them with a ciggarette as she headed back to Ren. She punched in the coordinate for Hawke Corperations. There was a lot to deal with before tomorrow.
