View Full Version : A Visit

Jan 25th, 2002, 07:30:58 PM
:: Reuven walked into the B&G, his footsteps slightly echoing as his cloak swayed gently in the air. Carefully making his way through the crowd, he selected a dark and unnoticable booth and sat down. Taking off his cloak, he took out a mysterious-looking gadget he had discovered and studied it. ::

It was a quiet night at the bar and grill. Most visitors had left to the spaceport to continue on with their business. At this time of night, mostly New Republic officials, Jedi and the more interesting strangers came in... and now Navaria was watching one of them now.

She had never seen him before nor what he was looking at. If it got past the guards ... shouldn't be that much of a danger to anyone here. From her own table in the back of the bar and grill, the Knight carefully watched the stranger with curious interest as she sipped at her namana juice.

:: Reuven sighed and set the object down on the table. It had been a long day and he was glad of a rest. Stretching out, he reached into his cloak and pulled something else out. It was an odd looking bottle from a foreign planet. He unscrewed the cap and lifted it to his lips, drinking its contents.

Setting it down, he suddenly had a chill run down a spine. A sensation he usually got when someone was watching him. He glanced around but saw nobody watching him and sighed. ::

"I do believe I'm going crazy..."

The man was tired and edgy. Not a good thing to be staring at him like this. Who knows what kind of trouble he's in.

Perhaps breaking the ice would be a good idea.

She slipped out of her chair and headed towards the bartender. Navaria did need to refresh her drink afterall.

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 26th, 2002, 01:25:18 AM
:: A movement caught his attention and he looked, seeing a lady walking to the bartender. No doubt she needed a refill. He shrugged slightly as if reassuring himself and looked back at the object. Now, all he needed to do was figure out what it was and he'd be hitting base.. ::

Jan 26th, 2002, 01:42:00 AM
Navaria had refilled her glass and ordered a stiff drink that she had seen some smuggler's and pilot's get when they were here.

Cautiously, she walked over to the stranger's table, not wanting him to think Navaria was going to do anything to harm him.

She held the glasses still and put on a pleasant smile.

"You look like you could use a house special."

Eyeing the drink in her hand, her nose turned a little and raised a brow.

"Though I never tried it myself."

Her blue eyes rested gently on him.

"I thought more you could use a friend since you seem ... distracted."

She motioned the object he was tinkering with.

Jan 26th, 2002, 02:26:06 AM
:: Reuven glanced up at the woman who approached him with drinks. He looked mildly surprised, wondering what the special occasion was. ::

"Is there a celebration I don't know about?"

:: He smiled slightly and gestured to the other side of the booth. ::

"Please, sit down. It would make one most uncomfortable when a lady has to stand and chat. As for the object... Well uh.. It's a curious little thing.."

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 26th, 2002, 09:21:43 PM
"The only occasion is offering friendship to a stranger that seems tired from a long trip. Navaria Tarkin is my name."

She bow slightly in thanks and slipped into the booth, setting both drinks on the table.

"Curious?"

Navaria finally got a close up view of the object.

"I've never seen anything like it before."

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 26th, 2002, 09:40:20 PM
"The name's Reuven."

:: At first he hesitated, wondering if he should tell her his last name. After all, she didn't seem to know who he was. But what if she was one of them?

He smiled slightly at Navaria's reaction at the object. It was made of silver and was tarnished, and had several runes marked on it. ::

"Neither have I. The funny thing is, though, that it seemed to have found me.."

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 27th, 2002, 12:47:39 AM
His mood shifted back to being cautious but then relaxed again as he talked about his finding.

It was desperately in need of cleaning and Navaria did see the runes, but they were very hard to make out because of the tarnish.

"Strange ... a friend of mine stumbled upon something that he found and said the same thing."

She sipped at her drink and pulled back her hood, getting more comfortable.

"Of course he only had a rock. Where did you find this?"

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 27th, 2002, 01:38:04 AM
"On the planet Verius. It's hardly even considered a planet anymore because of its size."

:: Reuven looked at the woman's face, being able to see it more clearly now. She was beautiful - brown hair, blue eyes, the works. She wasn't the first beautiful woman he saw, but beauty always caught him off guard. ::

"Here, look. There's a lock on it, but no matter what I do it won't open."

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 27th, 2002, 02:10:27 AM
Her face scrunched a little together. She had never heard of the planet Verius and since Navaria was too busy wondering what this object was, she was clueless to Reuven looking at her intently.

"Well ... if it is locked, there must be a reason behind it. Who knows what danger or forture it holds."

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 27th, 2002, 02:19:11 AM
:: He ran his fingers through his hair as he let out a nervous laugh. ::

"Yeah, I suppose you're right..."

:: He sighed slightly, then glanced around. Hardly anyone was in the bar, which was unusual. ::

"Is the bar always abandoned in the late eve?"

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 27th, 2002, 02:28:17 AM
The bar had emptied even moreso since their conversation had started.

"Yes. Some have early mornings and their rest. Others are only here now waiting for whatever comes their way."

Her eyes pierced Reuven, searching them for unspoken words that he was hiding from her with gentle blue eyes.

"Why are you passing this way?"

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 27th, 2002, 03:03:59 AM
:: It was easy to tell that he had been caught off guard by that question. ::

"It was a long day and I was passing by. I decided to come in and rest while examining the object I found."

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 27th, 2002, 05:57:11 PM
"I see. Well, your journey must have been long. Perhaps some food and if you need any assistance about that object ... maybe I could help or find someone that could help you."

Reuveen was not easy to read when she mentioned that so Navaria decided to clarify.

"Only if you wish it ... I understand if you reject the offer."

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 27th, 2002, 09:49:42 PM
:: Reuven listened carefully to Navaria's words. His face remained the same throughout the whole time, but his thoughts didn't. ::

"Some help on the object would be nice, but I decline the offer of food."

:: He didn't go into detail about why he refused the offer on food, but he knew it was for the best. She would probably be horrified if she found out... ::

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 27th, 2002, 10:12:21 PM
After flagging down a droid, she waved it off, giving Reuveen an odd look. He was hiding something ...

"Alright ... I'm not sure what I personally can help you with. Not unless you tell me everything about it."

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 27th, 2002, 10:22:22 PM
"Well, I pretty much told you everything."

:: He thought hard, trying to figure out if he had left anything out or not. ::

OOC : Okay. I just don't have PM activated 'cause of all the weirdo's out there.. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/image/emoticons_classic/laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 29th, 2002, 02:04:41 AM
She frowned.

"It's not much to go on. Did you have any idea what you were going to do next with it if you could find no answers here?"

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 29th, 2002, 02:10:22 AM
:: Reuven smiled slightly at her question. ::

"I'd probably give it to my little sister... That is, if I can ever find her."

:: It had been about 14 years since he had last seen her. The only thing that kept him going was the little bit of hope left inside. ::

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 29th, 2002, 02:20:52 AM
"I pray that you do ..."

She had lost her brother so very long ago ...

"... never give up hope."

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 29th, 2002, 02:25:29 AM
:: Reuven looked away, realising that he had just given part of himself to this... stranger. It was a harsh label, but wasn't that all she was? For all he knew, she could be cyborg set out to kill him.

He mumbled under his breath.::

"Curse that Kanaza Jayers..."

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 29th, 2002, 02:10:15 PM
Caution and fear were deeply rooted in his aura and emotions. It was going to be hard convincing Reuven that she was no threat to him. She must be patient and if he wished her help, she would do all she could .. but if his path did not intersect with Navaria's ... then hopefully the Force would guide him to his sister.

Perhaps it was time to find that out.

"If I make you uncomfortable, I could leave. I won't take any offence."

And she wouldn't. It was plainly written on her face.

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 29th, 2002, 05:30:59 PM
:: Reuven sighed. His wariness of Navaria caused her to think that he disliked her presence. But it wasn't that.. It was just.. something he couldn't quite put his finger on.

He shook his head and spoke quietly. ::

"You can stay if you want, but I wouldn't want you to think that you're obliged to stay."

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 29th, 2002, 05:53:21 PM
"I will stay only because you wish it."

She swirled the juice around in her glass.

"I'll admit I was drawn to you. You intrigued me as well as that object ... also, you looked like you could use a friend. So I thought I'd be more social then I usually am."

A smile appeared briefly before it disappeared as Navaria took a drink of her namana juice.

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 29th, 2002, 07:01:15 PM
:: Reuven laughed slightly. A friend.. that would be nice. For as long as he could remember he kept to himself, being labeled as a loner.

He sighed and watched Navaria as she drank. Her smile had highlighted her beauty; such a shame it had disappeared so quickly. ::

"I assume you are a Jedi. If you are, what brought you here?"

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 29th, 2002, 07:14:12 PM
Her brows scrunched up, unsure of what Reuven meant, and set her glass down.

"Yes, I am a Jedi but you mean why am I here at this table ..."

She laughed slightly

"... or at Yog's in general?"

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 29th, 2002, 07:25:11 PM
"No, just in general..."

:: He waved his hand in the air for emphasis. ::

"You know, the Jedi Order."

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 29th, 2002, 07:34:24 PM
Now when she chuckled, it was more of a nervous laugh.

"That's a really long story but in the most general sense ... to put things right in any way I can. My life is now to serve and protect those that are innocent and cannot defend themselves."

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 29th, 2002, 07:37:54 PM
"And do you ever actually get to meet the defenseless? Isn't it usually that most of them are wiped out in the Sith training? The only time the Jedis can seem to prove their worth is when battling the Darkside... Or so I've heard."

:: He sat back in his seat, waiting for a reaction. ::

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 29th, 2002, 07:43:59 PM
"If you mean the times that innocents are wiped out because of inaction ..."

Her eyes fell downwards, heavy with sadness.

"... then I can understand what you mean. There are so many faces of evil in the galaxy it is hard to stop them all. But .. you are sorta wrong about the training. Unfortunantly I know it all too well."

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 29th, 2002, 10:43:22 PM
Wait a minute... Did she just imply that she used to be a Sith?

:: Reuven looked at Navaria oddly, many thoughts racing through his mind. Suddenly he shook himself out of it. It seemed like Navaria didn't have too good of a past, like himself. ::

"True.. But we were all put in this galaxy for a reason."

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 30th, 2002, 12:35:05 AM
She see it in his eyes as well as feel the emotion coming of Reuven. To interject and clear up what he was thinking would probably caused him to be wary of her more. Plus, it isn't right to use her powers as a crutch to correct others. Let them think what they wished but as time went on, Navaria hoped that he would realize who she was really by action and sincerity.

"Yes. I finally found my path. Took a long time."

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 30th, 2002, 02:40:21 AM
:: Reuven nodded slightly. Maybe his thoughts about her were rushed, but he would find out in time. That is, if they ever met again. He took out his bottle and opened it. Tilting his head back, he took a long drink before setting it back down. ::

"So tell me... What is it like to have your own clan?"

:: He hoped that he was using the right words, being that he wasn't exactly what you'd consider "in with society". ::

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 30th, 2002, 03:41:45 PM
The words used were not lost on her and a genuine smile of happiness spread across her face.

"I refer to them as my family but I know clan and family are more or less the same thing depending on where you're from."

Her life was a very complicated mess before coming to the Jedi so Navaria would have to choose her words carefully to not confuse the poor guy.

"When I first came here, I was lost, alone, very anti-social."

She chuckled a little.

"Wouldn't think that now with me coming up to you like I did but back then I was quite timid. Through my Master and the teachings in the Force, I came to terms with who I am and I have the Jedi to thank for that. For giving me that chance."

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 30th, 2002, 08:39:29 PM
:: He made her smile again. Her happiness was contangious and Reuven found himself smiling wistfully. A familiar story, except that it didn't seem like he would have the same ending. ::

"I can relate to the beginning of your tale."

Navaria Tarkin
Jan 31st, 2002, 02:50:45 AM
He was relaxing around her, slowly of course but at least the tension was diminishing.

"I hope that you can relate to the ending of my story when the time is right."

Reuven Nightshade
Jan 31st, 2002, 10:12:30 PM
:: Reuven was taking another sip from his drink when Navaria spoke. Her words almost made him choke. He set the bottle on the table and grimaced. He didn't know what to say, what words could describe what he was feeling right now? ::

"I'm afraid I've seen too much to pick one side. Or to allow myself become close to anybody. My only enemies are those who seek to wipe out my race."

Navaria Tarkin
Feb 1st, 2002, 02:00:25 AM
Navaria realized her words were taken in the wrong context.

"I did not mean to join the Jedi. That is a personal choice for me. I only meant that, like me, that you find the peace that is right for yourself ..."

With what he did say though, she decided to see if Reuven wanted to share any further.

"You race? I don't think I'm familiar with it..."

Reuven Nightshade
Feb 2nd, 2002, 03:43:57 AM
"I doubt I'll find the right peace until I'm dead..."

:: Reuven sighed slightly and remained quiet, staring at the table. After awhile, he finally looked back at Navaria. ::

"Yes, my race... The Loup Garou."

:: His voice trailed off, bitter with memories. ::

"Or should I say the Lone Wolves..."

Navaria Tarkin
Feb 2nd, 2002, 09:59:51 PM
"Garou?"

Navaria had never heard of the Lone Wolves but Garou was a term that was familiar.

"Are you a ..."

She looked around and Reuven didn't want any attention drawn to himself. Her response would get that. There were not many patrons at this hour but one can never be too careful.

The Knight moved forward and talked in a whisper.

"... Werewolf?"

Reuven Nightshade
Feb 3rd, 2002, 03:35:03 AM
:: The way Navaria had asked him that almost made him laugh. ::

"In primitive terms, yes."

Navaria Tarkin
Feb 4th, 2002, 01:42:18 AM
She covered her mouth, trying not to laugh so loud at this time of night.

"I'm sorry ... just, calling a Tarkin primitive would have probably gotten you killed in different times."

Navaria settled herself down and smiled reassuringly.

"I know you meant no offense but tell me about your people ... do you all hail from different clans or are all brothers and sisters collectively?"

Reuven Nightshade
Feb 4th, 2002, 06:36:53 PM
"Some Garou think that we are all brothers and sisters... And from what I've seen, they're the ones that get slaughtered first. Every Garou seems to be in their own clan, I have yet to see one who has never been in one. As for myself, I came from a clan called the Lone Wolves..."

:: At this point Reuven trailed off, not really wanting to go into depth. Her words about being killed just merely made him smile. Death would just be another transition to him, one way or the other. ::

Navaria Tarkin
Feb 4th, 2002, 11:54:12 PM
"So its survival of the fittest with your people?"

It made sense. Wolves were pack animals. It was kill or be killed in the animal world. Such strong emotions would be just as powerful in a species as the Werewolves

Reuven Nightshade
Feb 8th, 2002, 11:45:56 PM
"Basically."

:: He kept it short, sensing that Navaria was starting to get the point. She caught on quickly, and he liked that. ::

Navaria Tarkin
Feb 9th, 2002, 01:29:22 AM
She nodded in understand but her eyes were filled with sorrow that such suffereing had to be a way of life.

"Not much room for fun is there? Your life must be very harsh."

Reuven Nightshade
Feb 9th, 2002, 02:14:51 AM
"I suppose our ideas of fun could differ."

:: Reuven's mind flooded back with memories of the hunts. It always seemed like magic weaved through the air those nights, as if the goddess Hecate and other deities associated with the Moon were savaged with the excitement of the hunt. He frowned slightly at these thoughts of the past and began to trace the designs in the wood of the table. ::

"But enough about me... What about you?"

:: He had stopped and looked up at Navaria, locking his eyes with hers. He was somewhat interested in her and that cloak of mystery she seemed to wear. ::

Navaria Tarkin
Feb 9th, 2002, 02:22:41 AM
She was captivated for awhile watching Reuven's fingers created patterns that were only privy to his own mind.

Her eyes snapped up when he wanted to know more about her.

"I guess it's only fair ..."

When she lifted her glass for another sip, Navaria noticed a water ring that was made on the table. The dampness in the air was heavy as the condensation cling to her glass.

She took a napkin and cleaned her mess.

"Have you ever heard of the name Tarkin?"

Not many seemed to remember that name, something that saddened and pleased the Knight. It was who she was yet the terror caused by that line was a cancerous blotch ...

Reuven Nightshade
Feb 9th, 2002, 02:41:46 AM
:: Reuven repeated the name Tarkin in his mind. It sounded so familiar, but then again, he had heard of so many that it was nearly impossible for him to figure out who they were and what they did. ::

"I might have..."

Navaria Tarkin
Feb 10th, 2002, 12:36:45 AM
It didn't surprise her too much.

"Besides the usual Imperial bigotry that my grandfather approved of, he was well known for cleansing impure aliens and was a human supremacist. He was also the man responsible for destroying Alderaan. He was Grand Moff Tarkin."

She waited for the response whether it be amazement or just simple shock to what Navaria admitted to. It wasn't her fault for what had happened, but still, the blight of her heritage had scarred her soul. Reuven could see the mixed emotions running through her eventhough the Knight betrayed nothing but a small twitch out of the corner of her mouth. He could see the haunting of misery long past in those blue eyes never wavered.

Reuven Nightshade
Feb 11th, 2002, 10:43:23 PM
:: As Navaria spoke, Reuven watched her face carefully, noting the twitch of the corner of her mouth. Her blue eyes held deep secrets that none other except herself knew, and he didn't dare ask for more. ::

"You can't be held responsible for what your grandfather did. It's all in the past, and perhaps if he didn't do that then the whole future would've changed, meaning that you might not even be a Jedi. Yes, the past is sometimes unforgiving, but what can we do?"

:: He hoped that his reply wouldn't annoy her in any way - he just didn't know what to say. ::

Navaria Tarkin
Feb 12th, 2002, 12:42:02 AM
"That simple statement that you said so easily, took me years to finally comes to term with. It is behind me, but I cannot forget ... it's my duty to live my life in service of the Force and to those that need me."

Reuven Nightshade
Feb 13th, 2002, 02:48:07 AM
:: Reuven nodded at her statement. ::

"The words you speak are true."

Navaria Tarkin
Feb 15th, 2002, 02:37:40 PM
She smiled and it was a smile that was mixed with some sadness with everything said tonight.

"I thank you for the conversation and I wish you luck in finding out what that object is"

Navaria tilted her head towards the chronometer on the wall. It read that it was well bast midnight.

"It was late to begin with. I don't know about you but I need to turn in. But my offer stands if you do need help."

Reuven Nightshade
Feb 16th, 2002, 12:50:11 AM
:: Reuven glances at the chronometer then sighed. He had kept the lady up quite late. ::

"I apologize for my rudeness, I see that the hour is quite late and that you need your rest. I'm sure I'll find out what it is in time, but I thank you for your generous offer."

Navaria Tarkin
Feb 18th, 2002, 01:49:36 AM
"I was just as rude keeping you up. Remember, it was me bothering you?"

She said, tapping the side of her glass with a grin.

"I'm glad that I did though."

And with that, Navaria stood up and bowed to Reuven.

"May the Force be with you in your quest. Who knows ... perhaps we shall see each other again one day."
