Maia walked into the bar, she new to be populated with Jedi. She was hoping to find one that would teach her to release her past. To let go of all she had been taught as a child. She had always turned her back on the darkside but it seemed to always be there beckoning her back into its cold embrace.

She had left home at a young age to escape from the darkness in which her parents lived. Now she just wanted freedom from the haunting memories. Perhaps she would find it here among the Jedi, at least she hoped she would.

Maia sat down at an empty table and ordered a drink from a passing service droid. Her hand reaching up, stroking the feathers of her pet. His talons gripped her shoulder biting in with a reassuring strength. "What do you think Ari, do you think we will find anyone here to help us?" Maia whispered softly to the bird as her hopeful eyes scanned the room. Ari cooed back, rubbing his beak over her cheek, his talons gripped tighter on her small shoulder...

Xazor walked into the bar and searched for familiar faces. Not seeing any of her friends.....she looked for unfamiliar faces. She then spotted a young woman towards the back of the bar. There was an empty seat beside her, and Xazor made her way to it. Getting closer to the woman, Xazor noticed she had a.......bird. It was beautiful and appeared to be tame. She smiled as she stood behind the woman.

Greetings..........my name is Xazor. Do you mind if I join you?

She spoke through the Force, hoping the woman could hear her.

Maia tensed as she heard the voice behind her. She always expected it to be one of her family members. She knew one day they would find her and try to drag her back to there dark folds. Hearing the kind, soothing voice in her mind she relaxed. Maia turned and smiled shyly at the woman. Sending a soft message back with the force. "It would be my pleasure." Maia gestured to the chair next to her.

"A Jedi." Maia whispered softly her voice trembled. She could sense the kindness around the woman that she had not often felt. Reaching up and running her fingers over Ari's under belly she looked intently at the Jedi.

She did not know what to say to her. She knew she could not just blurt out that she wanted to be a Jedi, that she needed help. Though she wanted to. The ladies face seemed so kind, "but what would she think of me. A child raised by Sith." Maia thought to herself, her eye's growing sad.

"My name is Maia Tharrinn." She settled with instead, extending her hand with a smile...

Xazor gently took the woman's hand in hers in a friendly greeting.

Nice to meet you, Maia. What is your friend's name?

She said softly as she admired the beautiful bird resting on Maia's shoulder. Xazor quickly scanned the woman's aura and probed her thoughts. She picked up on nervousness, and that the woman wished to say many things.......but could not. She felt a change in her presence right when Xazor had spoke to her. Not wishing to intrude, she kept these wondernments to herself and waited for her to speak.

There was something comforting in the woman's voice, something familiar. It put Maia at ease immediately with her. Maia had not been around many people that had put her at ease and it was a nice change. There was so much she wanted to ask, to learn. She just didn't know how to go about asking for the help of this Jedi.

"His name is Ari, he has been my companion for a long time now." Maia said with a soft smile as she ruffled her pets feathers. She extended her wrist to Ari and he gently steped onto it, his powerful talons gripping her small wrist. Maia moved the bird forward toward the woman in an invitation to pet him. "Please, pet him, he will not bite you." Maia said through the force. Her smile shy and a little afraid at the other woman's reaction.

"As the woman ran her fingers over Ari's glossy feathers Maia studied her. Finally getting enough courage to ask. "Are you a Jedi, can I become one?" Maia asked in a quick breathless tone. Her eyes fell to the table afraid of the answer that as to come. "My parents were Sith." She said in a sad voice knowing in her heart that it could mean a cold shoulder from this kind woman...

Xazor extended her hand and gently began to stroke the bird. He was so beautiful and very calm. She smiled as she did so. She had once had a companion, but he was a wolf. Quite different than this bird. Her thoughts were suddenly interrupted by the other woman who questioned her. Smiling with pride, Xazor spoke.

Yes, I am a Jedi. You wish to become one also? I don't see why not, anyone can be a Jedi.....

She stopped short as she replayed everything the woman had said in her mind. Then recalling the last part of what she had said..... My parents were Sith..........she couldn't believe it. Smiling brightly at Maia, she spoke in a kind voice.

Fear nothing...........I too was raised by the Sith. And they were not even my parents. I was raised all of my life by the Highest Lord and Master of the Sith on the planet Cysaria. He ruled from his empire there. I loved it.........I became a Sith Warrior Knight...........I gave my allegiance to the Sith and even accepted the Mark of the Most High........it is like a tattoo, but it's encrypted on my skin and in my blood. I found the light and escaped a few months ago........I was not unscarred by the event. Now I am here, and this is my home. I am a peace loving Jedi.........and they accepted me without regards to my past.

She flashed the woman a reassuring smile. She was not afraid to share her past with anyone now. There was something different about this woman.......she knew they would become good friends. They already had something in common.

Maia's eyes widened at the woman's story of her own past. She was a Sith Warrior and now Jedi. They had accepted her. Maia leaned forward toward the woman her voice low. "Did they expect you to go find your adoptive parents and kill them?" Her tone sad and fearful. "Though the were evil and they still hold my older brothers and sister to there darkness, I don't think I could ever do that." Maia spoke softly.

Maia's fingers ran over Ari's beak. Taking a piece of raw meat from her pouch she fed her pet. It was an act you could tell that was done without a second thought. As she fed him she began to talk.

"I left not to long ago, my brother helped me to leave because he knew that my parents grew weary of my denial of the darkside. They were going to send me away to a Sith master that they thought would teach me to be more respectful of there ways. If they ever find where I'm at or that my brother helped me, they will kill us both." Maia's eyes glistened with tears her voice cut off at the last word.

Looking up into the woman's kind eyes Maia dared to ask, "Will you help me become a Jedi, will you help me to forget the past?"

Xazor smiled brightly.

The Jedi are a people of peace. Yes, figting is necessary sometimes......but the Jedi do not aim to kill. Do not fear your parents........if they come looking for you here, the whole Order will stand behind you....they will never ask you to kill anyone or thing. Everything is bound together with the Force. If you kill something, it stains your soul.

She paused as she thought of her words. She was becomming more of a teacher than a student.

Yes...........I will help you become a Jedi. And do not forget all of your past. That is where you came from.......it is part of who you are. That is the most important thing.....never forget who you are. Accept who you have become, and accept your new life..........as a Jedi.

She smiled and thought of how to help the woman start her new life.

Would you like to meet some of my friends? They shall make it official and find you a Master. I wish that I was a Knight, for I would like to have someone like you as my first student. I am only a Padawan, but close to Knight status. If I was a Knight, I would take you as my padawan.....but as I said before, it is against Jedi policy for Padawans to train others.

Xazor sighed and thought for a moment.

If you wish to become a Jedi, I will take you to the Recruitment Center. There, we shall speak to the Masters, if you wish.

She said in a friendly, soft voice.

Maia smiled wistfully as the woman told her of the kindness that she had received. Maia wanted nothing more than peace in her life and to be safe. Maia to wished the woman could be her master, there was something about her that felt safe and familiar. She hoped there would be a way but she did not want to get her into trouble.

"I would like to become a Jedi and to have you as my master but if it cannot be perhaps you will count me as a friend and someone you can help along the way. Are all the Masters here kind?" Maia questioned in a fearful tone as she remembered the masters she had to endure when being trained as a Sith. The beatings she had received when she would not perform cruel acts. "I would like very much to become a Jedi." Maia said with a smile. She just hoped that all were as kind as this woman was...

Xazor nodded and smiled gently.

All of the Masters here are kind and have a heart of love. The only way I could become your Master was if you were willing to wait for me to become a Knight. You may mention this to the council.....if you wish. I am not sure how long it will take, though.

She sighed as she looked down at the table. She also wished there could be a way.....but right now it was against the rules.

Of course I will be your friend and I will help you in any way I can!

She smiled brightly as she concluded this. Maia had great potential and she was sure no matter what the outcome of her Master was, she would train well and become a strong Jedi.

Maia nodded as the woman spoke. She would not mind waiting on the woman to become a knight so she could have her as a master. "Perhaps there is someone willing to take me as a student while I wait for you." Maia said hopefully.

She felt safe with this woman and Maia felt that she alone would understand her worries and fears. She did not know if there were others here that had once been Sith but it was by far different to be raised by them and have there hate drilled into you day after day.

"Will you take me to them and help me explain, perhaps they will understand with your help. I have nothing to offer other than myself and my Ari. We will stand for the Jedi and there ways." Maia said earnestly. Ari bobbed his head as if in full agreement with Maia...

Xazor nodded and smiled.

We could see if that is a possibility.

She said in a kind voice. Maia was sincere in everything she said, she was sure to make a fine Jedi.

Yes, I shall take you to the Masters and we shall ask of your training. As far as explaining about your past, I shall help you. It will not change their minds about you, though. The Jedi are a people of peace and love. You are a hero for having escaped the darkness!

She said with enthusiasm.

I know you and Ari will be dedicated to the Jedi. hat is evident already......you shall make a Master very happy, no matter who it is.

She resolved with a gentle smile.

Maia placed Ari back on her shoulder, the bird tucked his head into her hair and promptly fell asleep. Maia smiled fondly at the bird as she rubbed her cheek against its soft feathers. Maia gave the kind woman a nervous grin. "I'm ready whenever you are miss." Maia tucked her bag onto her arm and waited for the lady to tell her what they would do next.

"I left my sword at the door as the guard asked me to. Should I leave it there when we go or would they mind if I take it? It belonged to my brother." Maia said with a worried frown she had promised him she wouldn't lose it. Maia looked from the guard at the door back to her benefactor...

Xazor smiled and rose from her seat.

You can pick it up right now if you want. You just can't bring it in here. Anywhere else is fine, though.

She smiled and Maia rose from her seat.

I shall lead you to the Recruitment Center where we shall speak to the Masters.

She smiled kindly at the woman and began to walk toward the door. She picked up on her nervousness and spoke to her through the Force.

Do not worry........you will be fine.

Her reassuring voice echoed through the Force. Xazor put the hood of her cloak over her head and walked up to the door guard. She too had been storing a sword with them, as well as her lightsaber and blaster. She spoke briefly to the guard and soon got her weapons back. She strapped her long bladed silver sword to her back, her lightsaber clipped to her belt, and blaster put in its holster on her thigh. She smiled as the guard handed a beautiful sword to Maia.

Stay close, and follow me.......

She said over her shoulder to the woman.
