In need of a friend

[Tainen Baal]

Tainen sat slouched in a booth, eyes closed. She had been in that position for hours though she was not asleep. She could not sleep. For days she had been thinking over all that had happened, was happening, and at every rest stop had come to the same conclusion: she had no idea what to do.

* You have faced much harder challenges than this Tainen....why do run from it?* she asked herself. But she knew the answer. It was because she was afraid. Afraid because she could not do this. Wearily Tainen opened her eyes and looked about for someone to talk to. Perhaps talking would help.

[Anbira Hicchoru]

You look distressed.

:: Anbira stood next to the woman's table, hands clasped behind his back ::

Tell me what troubles you.

[Tainen Baal]

Tainen looked up, brushing a few strands of hair from her face.

"What troubles me? What troubles me is that I am not as strong as I thought I was. Please...if you wish to, have a seat."

[Anbira Hicchoru]

When strength is needed, you will find unseen reserve. What crisis looms on the horizon that tests you?

She was silent for a moment, lost in another time. Finally she focused her eyes on his.

"I am pregnant." she answered quietly.

[Anbira Hicchoru]

And you fear you cannot endure the pregnancy? Or provide for the child?

[Tainen Baal]

"I can endure the pregnancy and provide for the child physically. But I cannot raise it...I do not think I could even if the father were alive." she explained.

[Anbira Hicchoru]

I think you underestimate yourself, and the mentor that you shall be, both as a parent and a Jedi.

[Tainen Baal]

"Perhaps. But I am not so sure. Growing up I faced many challenges, but this time....this is the first time I have felt afraid of failing. Afraid of trying."

[Anbira Hicchoru]

Learn to quieten your fear, and you will succeed.

[Tainen Baal]

"Wise words. But they are easier said than done." She said with a smile.

Easy tasks are not common to the Jedi. But they are all done.

Tainen nodded. "Thank-you. The road does not seem so narrow when there are people willing to listen and give advice. I will remember your words."
