Syrius had been running blocks. The Force was something mental, barriers he had to overcome like speed bumps in his mind. Try as he might, he couldn't shake his set in ways. To train, you had to work out, simple as that. Maybe it'd help clear his mind if anything.

He was in good physical condition. Great, some would say. Being a cop without a weapon... you're forced to be able to run and tussle. Although he wasn't strong, his heart and lungs could take a beating. He smoked religiously but lately he'd been forced to give that up. Self inflicted discipline. The cravings were unbearable but the exaustion he felt after running too his mind off that. For a second he wondered if he'd be bent over as far now, struggling to catch his breath, if he never took up the nasty habit.

"Sco--Water."

Avolon sighed/chuckled as he deftly placed the water on the counter.

"Th--tha--"

"Thanks mate. I got it," Avolon interjected, seeing the Jedi turned detective was unable to form words with an air sucking mouth.

Syrius gave a raise of the glass, 'cheers', then downed it. He collapsed/leant back on the stool, swivling it just in time as not to fall. His back now rested against the bar.

Xazor came up behind Syrius and placed her hands on his shoulders, looking down into his closed eyes.

You look exhausted!

She said with concern. Noticing that he had ordered water instead of Scotch, she shook her head slightly.

Is something wrong, my padawan? You look like you need some sleep!

She exclaimed slightly, trying not to startle him with loud words.....

Syrius bent over, trying to catch his breath. It was useless.

He put up five fingers, then made a circular motion. Five miles. Of course he jogged most the way and even walked some.

The water was refilled just as Syrius reached for it. He downed it, placed it back. Avolon shook his head and rolled his eyes. What was this, a resevoir? He'd mentioned before that he'd have to start charging for water if the bar ever wanted to turn a profit.

Xazor caught exactly what he was saying. She almost dropped her jaw and then shook her head.

Syrius! Why in God's creation did you run five miles?!

She questioned with deep concern.

You could have dehydrated yourself, or had a heat stroke!

She sat down beside him and looked at his weary body.

"I've-- Done it before, love," he said with a wink, finally regaining his breath, gradually. "I know, I know. It's just... I wanted to get in shape, Master," he was still getting used to that word... Master.

OOC - To give you and idea about the realism: my brother, who is in immaculate shape, can "jog" 3 miles without slowing. And he's never tried more. Of course his jogging is RUNNING, but he's humble. So since Syrius isn't in good shape, this is not healthy, but not entirely loony. :)

Xazor shook her head and took a few extra glasses of water from behind the bar.

You worry me a lot, Syrius. That isn't healthy for you to be doing. It is noble for you to want to get into shape....but do it in small steps. Try a mile first and then build your way up! Goodness......I don't know what I'd do if I found you passed out on a trail......

She brushed his blonde hair back, looking into his tired eyes. She handed him another glass of water, hoping he was not too dehydrated already.

ooc: I know that. I am just making Xaz' freak out a bit. He is lucky if he can run three miles. I can't even run one because I have a heart condition. :(

Syrius laughed. Wow.... the Jedi were kinder on their students than the instructors at the police academy.

"I have ran before, Master," Syrius said, managing a grin. "Thought I'd get a head start, you know. Aren't Jedi supposed to be fit? I feel like an inept old geezer who's past his prime."

OOC - Sorry. :(

I figured you did. I just like to brag about him. I'm a little flabby, so I live viceriously. It's especially good to have him in basketball. He runs down court and brings people to the perimeter, I box out on the inside. It's a sweet set-up.

Xazor shook her head and smiled.

The Jedi are not required to be "fit". Taking care of your body is a good idea.....and staying fit and healty will make you physically stronger....but the Force is your greatest ally.

She said softly, hoping he understood what she was saying.

ooc: It's okay...I can play basketball and stuff. Last year I got MVP of my team. I even got a cool nickname from it... "Bull-dozer" I fouled out of every game, and hurt a bunch of people on other teams. It was purly by accident......

Syrius nodded slowly.

"I've heard lots of stories about Luke Skywalker, and I read up on some of the Jedi texts here. It tells of him running through Dogabah with Yoda on his back. I see Yoda as a serious, straight to the point kind of green bloke. Since the time frame was condensed, since the Empire was growing, why would Yoda have him run if being fit wasn't important to Jedi training...?"

OOC - My nickname's Rocket. That's from football though. It's because of my arm strength.

What position you play? Guard, Forward, Center?

Xazor sighed slightly.

It was mental training. He was pushing Luke to his limits to test him mentally......to see if he'd give up!

She smiled gently on her padawan. Someday he would understand more things like this.

ooc: I play Forward, but whenever my coach needs me, he plays me as a center. I am pretty tall, so it works!

In the corner, Marcus watched Xazor speak to her Padawan. His face was covered and he was smoking his pipe.

OOC: Basketball? Last time I played that, I was sent off for decking someone. I'm not tall, but I'm quite powerful. And I have a temper. And a mean right hook

Xazor could feel the eyes of another resting on her. She turned around to face the solitary man, sitting in the corner smoking his pipe. She smiled and winked at him before returning to her padawan.

I see you back there Marcus....how's it going?

She asked him through the Force.

ooc: I too had a temper and got two technicals during the season. One more and I would have been off the team. I drove my elbow into a girls chest while we were on the ground, fighting over possession.....it was the first quarter and she ended up sitting out the rest of the game. Actually.....she was "laying out" with an ice pack on her chest. I did it intentionally, though......she was all over me and even when I'd set picks to loose her, she was there! I had to do something!

Syrius twisted his face, trying to hide his humilation.

"Oh..."

The Jedi Padawan took a sip from his water.

"Doesn't matter, I'm okay. Although I do intend to stay in shape. No use being a Jedi if your a rather flabby bloke. What can I do that won't send you into a worried fit?"

OOC - I don't try and play dirty, like commiting fouls. Often times someone will run towards me, going for a basket, I'll just stand there. Then they hit me and fall to the ground from slamming into my stationary body! It's really quite funny. I'm not too tall but pretty strong. I'd probably be playing a small forward if I was on a team. However, I'm homeschooled, and I can't find any non-school related team in my age group. So I play street ball.
