Araia entered the empty room and looked around. It was much better than what she was used to. Smiling she walked over to the bed in the corner and pulled a few parts from her pocket. They were the first she had gathered to start construction on her lightsaber. With a small smile, she headed back out the door in search of the remaining components she would need.

Araia sighed and rubbed the back of her neck. SHe had been working for hours now. It had become a routine over the past weeks. Not to say she didn't enjoy it. She did, immensly. And it was paying off too. Her lightsaber was almost complete.

She got up from her seat, stretching her legs, and walked over to the bed. Pulling a small box from underneath, she knelt on the floor. This was the only thing she had taken from her home. Nestled inside the box were three crystals. They had been a gift to her mother from her father on their wedding night. ANd now they would help to shape her future. She gently removed the crystals and put the box back in it's place. Araia walked back to the small worktable and set the crystals down. Time to start.

She was almost afraid to turn it on. *Get a grip* she chided herself. Closing her eyes, Araia pushed the button on the side of her lightsaber hilt. She heard a *snap*hiss* and when her eyes slowly opened, was greeted by the sight of a pale purple blade protruding from the top of the hilt. Araia grinned. She couldn't wait to show her Master. They could now move to the next stage in training. But there was one more thing she had to do. Deactivating her saber, Araia moved back to the worktable. She began to carve a pattern around the handle of the 'saber. It was the same pattern that was burned onto her left shoulder. It was the mark that had identified her as a slave. But it had a new meaning. It was the mark that reminded her that she was free.
