::...to begin his training.
"I am ready to begin. Sorry I haven't been here."

Do you remember what we were up to?
*ignites his saber*
Dueling if I remember correct, wasn't it? ;)

"Yes, but I have a slight problem. I ain't got a lightsaber, can't do Force moves, but I'll try anyway."
:: Cracks his knuckles and goes into a fighting stance.
"Let's see if I can keep up with you."

Hart Kenobi

Ah, in that case our training will be a little unorthodox. I assume you will rely upon your agility and speed, am I correct? Then I must set a training course marathon along the forest.

*hands Sten a map and shows him a mark on it* "Make it to that point as quick as possible. I will be timing you."

::Turning and looking at the woods, it reminds him of his home on planet Demeter. He used to be the fastest, as well as the only chimp in the Apes of Wrath Clan. Doing a few stretches before he begins, his muscles strung tight and ready to explode with power, now felt a little bit stronger than before. Perhaps he was growing as a Jedi, yet he hadn't trained enough for anything to happen. Looking to his master, he waits for a signal.

::Hart looks into Sten's eyes, relaying a message to him via the Force.::
You may begin

Obstacle:
1. Run 2 miles
2. Climb the oldest tree in the forest, you will feel the age in the Force as you approach it.
3. There will be a vine. You must swing from it from tree to tree for mile.
4. Afterwards, there will be a sharp cliff. You must leap off and land safely on the ground 20 meters below using the Force to soften the impact.
5. There will be dense jungle. Use your Jedi intuition to try to find the right direction to the temple I marked as teh finish line.

I'll see you there

::Unleashes his coiled mucsles, and begins to run. Into the woods, zigzaging to avoid the various obstacles of trees both alive and dead, rocks big and small, and low-lying underbrush. Things become a blur as he runs. Finally, he feels like something was warning him to jump. Following that warning, he jumped. And he realized that he had just jumped over a large pit. But what he was happy about was the fact that he had just used the Force. It was slight, and he didn't understand why he did what he did or what was going to happen, but he knew that the Force knew, and so he put his trust in it. Suddenly realizing that he was running at a slower pace to avoid injury, he ran faster. As hard as he could. And instead of anticipating the unknown terrain, he reached out with the Force and literally felt the obstacles. He felt tired, almost sleepy, but it wasn't because of fatigue. It was because he found his zone within the Force. And seconds became minutes, and minutes became hours. And with the blink of an eye, he felt something else. Something old reaching out to him. Stopping, he tries to use the Force to find a hint on what it was. But it wasn't working. So he concentrated and focused his mind by a light meditation. And he found it. The oldest tree, large, powerful, and yet beautiful in all of it's glory. He then let the Force guide him to the lowest branch, which was several feet above the ground. It's was impossible to jump that high, but a monkey could scale it with no problem. He scaled the tree to the lowest branch. And falling back into the pattern of the Force, he moved fluidly, leaping and swinging from branch to branch. He suddenly saw that he was at the top of the tree. Seeing a vine below him, he lets himself fall, and at the last possible second, he grabs for the vine. Gripping it in his hairy hands, he swings and catches the other vines. Moving with great speed and precision, he grabs a vine and swings. Grabs another vine and swings. And on and on and on, until he reaches the end of the jungle. Stopping to walk, he is about to exit, when he hears a low growl right beside him. Turning, he sees the glowing eyes of a very large panther. Just in time he ducks and watches as the panther skins the bark and wood of a tree clean off. He tries to concentrate to use the Force, but he suddenly feels the body of the panther barrel into him, knocking him to the ground like a rag doll. Feeling dizzy, he backs up... and almost falls off of the cliff. He regains his balance and uses the cliff to his advantage. He ducked as he watched the panther sail over his head and over the edge of the cliff. He almost felt bad that he had to let it happen that way, but he had to keep moving. Coiling up the energy in his muscles, he springs and falls over the cliff. Concentrating, he uses the Force to temporarily slow the decent of his fall. He lands a little softer than he thought he could. Looking before him, he sees more jungle to run through. Bolting, he runs hard, trying to fall into the Force. But he can't, so he uses his animal instinct. He returns to the trees, somersaulting from branch to branch and swinging from vine to vine. Doing a quadruple somersault right after a swing from a vine, he is launched over the treetops and into the air. He looks and spots the temple. Swinging onto another vine, he manages to slow down his decent to the ground and prepares to run some more. Jumping to avoid a dead and decaying tree, he runs and suddenly, he is in a meadow. And high in the sky, probably built by some ancient race, was the temple. And surely in front of it, there was a mark indicating that he was in the right place. Sitting on the ground, he meditates to slow his pumping heart and adrenaline. He then relaxes and waits for his master...

::Sten's head turns in surprise as he suddenly notices Hart's presence a couple of feet away.::
"Very good. Your agility and stamina is impressive. Very impressive. I did notice small variables such as the panther, but you overcame them easily enough. Tell me though, how and why did you feel the panther as a threat? How did you come to the solution on how to respond and overcome it? Were there alternative methods to perhaps service the lightside more strongly with sacrificing the time on your run?"

Sten the Chimp
Mar 29th, 2001, 12:24:28 PM
"On my home planet, the bigger panthers were usually more voilent, which proved true in this case. And he just about took my head off with his paw. I came to that solution by quick thinking. No Force moves necessary. And if I tried harder, I might have been able to calm him, but I saw no opportunity to do so. I might have been able to restrain him and sacrifice the time on the run. But I'll bet you that the panther is still alive. Because big panthers survive big falls, and I think I can feel his life ebbing and flowing. And I think that he might be after me later.

Hart Kenobi

"Yes, he is still alive...." *Hart's eye's turn to the sky, almost as if staring an an invisible object.* "... Well, at least for a few more weeks, anyway.... Yes. Yes, you will encounter the creature again." *Hart shrugs* "More of a reason to fine tune your sense, I believe."
*Hart's gaze lowers and falls on Sten's eyes*
"But this panther is an omen on what is to come in your journey to become a Jedi. Every one of us must face our fears and our fate. Only if we come out alive can we consider the path complete. That day is nearing for you and all of us...."
*Hart breaks from the subject.*
"No more will I tell you about your future today."

"Good. I don't think it'll be a good one. And now, can we work on some Force moves? I was told that I would be a good Elementalist by Verse. He recruited me before he left. I would like to try some basic elemental Force moves, but only if you wish to."
::Bows in respect. Looks up.
"So, how did I do?"

Hart Kenobi

Exactly what do you think an Elementalist does?

Sten the Chimp
Apr 2nd, 2001, 09:24:17 PM
They use the elements around them to fight off their enemies. For example, if some droids were trying to kill an elementalist, he would use an element to combat them, such as summon up an electrical storm, make the heat around the droids so hot or so cold that it either melts or freezes their circuits, or cause an earthquake to make the droids fall into a rupture in the earth, or use a spark in the barrel of the blaster to create a huge fire, or freeze the rain into hail, or take a gentle breeze and turn it into a hurricane-like gust of wind. They primarily work on their ability to control the elements. If I were to become an elementalist, I could create a rain to water a garden. And if I did become an Elementalist, wouldn't I be the first?

*Hart brings his right hand to his chin as he contemplated.*
"That sounds very close to using the Darkside, Sten. If you wish to use those powers, I don't believe you will learn any of that from me. I cannot force you not to, only strongly urge you to be careful with your decisions with that."

Sten the Chimp
Apr 4th, 2001, 07:28:22 PM
Could you please explain? I don't understand. Is using Elemental abilities bad?

Hart Kenobi
Apr 4th, 2001, 07:38:17 PM
So much is unknown about the ways of the Jedi since the records were destroyed. But from Luke Skywalker's recollection of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda, they never dared use their powers in such a way. The only ones that seemed to manipulate the environments of teh battle were coincidently the Sith. Therefore, though I cannot be sure and I am not certain about those technique. I will not stop you from using the Force in that manner if you wish to do it, but make sure that things don't go overboard with it.

Sten the Chimp

"Can you give me an example of going out of line? I only partially understand. And afterwards, let's spar. But instead we use droids and we fight together instead of against each other. And after the droids are done, we'll spar each other. Sound like a good program?"

OOC:SORRY FOR SO MANY ADD REPLYS. I CAN'T FIX THE SIG AND EDIT IT.

EDIT: I tested it at Yog's, but this topic is too badly messed up. I'll make a new topic, you can close this one off, and we'll start off where we last left off on this. Okay?
