** A young Jedi padawan stands in an open field. She stares towards the sun, nearing the horizon on its downward arc. She begins to talk quietly to herself..

"Hmmmm... This seems like a perfect place to spar with someone.."

:: Walking upon the open fields near the Jedi Temple Warren couldn't help but notice a lone figure out in the open, wondering who would be out here on a day such as this he walked towards them. It didn't take to long for him to clear the distance between him and the unknown figure, it wasn't until he was closer that he recognized the figure to be Beldarine a Jedi Padawan. Walking softly towards her he gripped his saber slightly, he wondered if she would be in the mood for a spar on such a beautiful day as this ::

"Hello Beldarine, beautiful day we're having here huh ? I wonder are you in the mood for a friendly spar ?"

Sage Hazzard, master to Beldarine, sat to the side. He sat apon a large stump, the tree had been cut to aid in the making of a hut, a tree had been planted beside it to replace what had been taken. He read a HoloNovel. The character was a fictional Jedi. Sage found the way he aouther depicted the Jedi somewhat comical. This Jedi had anger? And he was a Master of the Force no less. This author obviously needed a better tutor. Sage thought offhandedly that he would pay the man a visit. Perhaps he could change his mind and persuade him to change the characteration for the sequel.

He noticed the two Jedi in front of him. His Padawan was one, the other was his friend Warren. He thought about asking if he could join, making it three. An free for all. He decided to wait Beldarine's acceptance to Warren's request before he would announce himself.

**The woman turned and smiled at her friend Warren.

"You know, I happened to be thinking the exact same thing."

**She calmly folds her blue cloak and lays it on the ground, rising, she unsnaps her saber from her belt. Twirling it in her hand, she was about to ignite it when something caught her eye. A familiar presence on a tree stump.. Sage? She wondered if he would like to join in..

**Leia appeared from a clearing to the 3 jedi**

Now...now...guys is it fair for you two to take on Bel alone? I think not!

**The Jedi Master unclip her saber from her belt and ignited it's magenta blade**

Shall me dance, Gentlemen?!

As always, Gentlemen lead the ladies in this dance!

**Leia smirked at Sage and Warren. Quickly flashing a slight giggle towards Bel**

**Bel's smile immediately flashed to her face. She had been doubtful before, but now she knew that this was going to be a great fight.

**With a quick snaphiss, she ignited her saber and winked at Leia..

Come on boys, have at you.

"I was thinking of favoring Beldarine in this fight. She is my Padawan."

Sage chuckled.

"Have it your way. Warren?"

Sage turned towards Azalin and nodded as he took out his Lightsabre, igniting it without thinking.

"Okay, I think it's only fair you attack first."

Sage shook his arms out, releasing the tension.

"I should stretch, but ah well. Which one you want Warren?"

"My choice huh, well since Beldarine is your Padawan and I was Leia's how bout we do a little Master versus Student. Kind of see how much the student has learned, in other words. I'll Take Leia."

:: Moving towards his former Master he grinned, it had been a long time since they last fought and he had much to show her ::

"It's been awhile Leia, shall we ?"

:: Watching as Leia nodded Warren let lose with Salvation, Sabers clashed as the other two paired together. Remembering how Leia fought he countered her every move, neither Jedi would get the upper hand in this fight ::

**She smiles at Sage.. nodding her head.. It seemed only right that student versus master would prevail in their little two on two spar.

"Alright, Sage.. Do your worst"

**She smiles a broad smile, enveloping herself with the Force. She crouchs low to the ground, her saber held at her side.

Sage smiled, his sabre held in front of him.

"Show me what you have learned. Do not hold back. Let the Force flow through you, do not fight it, do not try and find it, let it find you. Open yourself to it. Listen to it's words, let it guide you.... Now, come at me."

**She did as her Master instructed her to. She felt the Force thrumming in her veins. She sensed more than she saw; if she closed her eyes, she could still feel everything moving around her. She shut out Leia and Warren's fight, the only one important to her was the man right in front of her -- Sage Hazzard. She nodded once as she walked towards him, acknowledging she was ready and prepared.

**Suddenly her saber whipped around to his left side, and his saber met hers cleanly. They continued a volly of strikes and parries, none actually coming close to hitting the other person. She used it simply to detect weaknesses in Sage's plan. Bel grudgingly acceded his defense was iron tight, and she would have to find another way.

**She slid her saber skywards, only to bring it down in a two handed blow aimed at his chest. His saber quickly came up to meet hers. His saber met hers in a clash of sparks near the top of Bel's head. She quickly rocked back her hands, causing her saber to slide underneath his. Using her forward momentum to her advantage, she slides to the left of Sage, half turning. Bel kicked out foot and caught Sage's left knee. As Sage staggered from the blow, the young padawan fluidly brought her elbow down and connected with his shoulder.

**Backing up a few paces, she resumes her half-crouch.. saber pointed low. The Force hummed to her. She did not feel anything as she flowed from one movement to the next, it had only taken seconds.

**Leia grinned back at Warren with a smirkish grin and sends his a force msg**

Yes..it has been awhile Warren. Lets see what you have learned

**Both sabers were in a crossblade locked. Leia put pressured on her blade, pushing Warrens' aside as she spun out of the bladelock. As the Jedi Master spun around to face Warren again..she darted out her right leg..swiping Warren to the ground. She backed away from Warren a few feet away**

**Leia motioned to Warren with her hands..as for him to come and get her. She now waited in a crouched defensive position**

Sage smiled as he looked up from a wounded crouch.

"My first spar with my Master ended without victor. However he did concide I was winning. I sense much strength in you. Much wisdom. I sense myself in you. My younger self."

Sage leaped up from his wounded postition, showing no sign of stagger. He flipped over Bel. As she turned to block what she assumed would be an attack Sage faked a side thrust to her left. As she went to block it Sage pulled back and rolled to his left, her right. Bel changed mid swing and brought her humming sabre to the opposite side, low and at the head of her Master. Sage leaped up and seemed to hang in the air for a moment as he kicked both of his boots againt his padawan's chest. She staggered back as he landed. He brought his sabre up again.

"You must open yourself to the Force fully! Give yourself to it. Let it guide you. The Force speaks! For I have heard it. It is wiser then I or any other Jedi. It will show you the way. Let it guide your every block, strike, parry, thrust, every movement."

:: Getting to his feet slowly the Jedi Knight smiled ::

"Very nice Leia, but your tricks won't work on me much anymore."

:: Using the Force, Warren leapt up into the air and landed behind the Jedi master. Quickly turning around he shoved his foot into her back causing her to stumble forwards into the floor. Not one to kick his Master while she was down he backed of slightly as he waited for her to get up, pulling his secondary saber off his belt he ignited it letting it's ruby glow cascade off his face. He would indeed show Leia all he learned ::

Hanging from a tree in the distance, Sten watches as two Padawans, like himself, and two Masters, or Knights, or whatever spar. Being rather bored on this sunny day, he simply watched and didn't bother to interfere in the fight. But it looked like it would be a very interesting match...

**She simply started at her Master. No emotions floated across the vague, but she heard.. something.. The Force whispered through her entire body, filling every particle with enough light, enough energy, she thought she would burst. She did not even have to move a muscle, for the Force moved them for her. Giving Sage a little smile, she began to move.

**She ran for him, gaining speed through the force. All of a sudden, she dove forward, catching herself with one of her arms, catapulting herself over Sage. He turned his head slightly to watch her, but he could not turn around in time. She landed softly, their backs touching. Almost before her feet had touched the floor, her free arm rocketed back. Gripping him around the throat, she leaned forward, and used her force-hanced muscles to throw him over her. As he went flying through the air, her saber slashed towards his chest. She completed the swing, and backed up warily.. only now becoming aware of two new presences watching the fight. His body blocked her view, so she couldn't see if she had even hit with her blow.

**She waited, watching him.. crouched low and saber gripped tightly. Waited for his attack to come.

Sage Hazzard
Apr 6th, 2001, 12:07:29 AM
His chest shed no blood. The sabre for sparring was always set on stun, inflicting only a burn. He turned around, smiling as he moved. His Padawan was skilled, much potential she had, this was apparent to all that observed.

"You are doing very well.... very well indeed."

Sage charged at Beldarine, ignoring all burns on his human body. He would test his Padawan, test her to the limits. He stopped in front of her and sent an image to her mind of an alternate Sage. This Sage flip over her, while the real Hazzard stayed behind. As Bel only saw the fake duplicate, she turned. Sage kicked her in the back and she stumbled, thoughts of confusion running through her mind. Sage pushed her back towards him with the Force, and her stumbled forwards turned into a back peddle backwards. As she turned on her heel Sage was already in the air, landing behind her and slamming the hilt into her back. She fell to her knees as the blow send her knees buckling.

Sage was sorry he had to cause pain in his Padawan. He felt it nessicary to test her limits, she how far she had come. He knew with the right training she would be ready for Knighthood soon, a month or more. He had to know how far she had come, he had to know.

**Bel rose to her feet. Through her void, she felt no pain. She she knew that there would be a welt on her back the size of a hilt's diameter tomorrow. She felt twinges run up and down her spine, but ignored them -- focusing only on her Master. She wanted to prove to her Master that she was worthy, wanted him to realize how far she had come.

**Reaching forward with the Force, she added energy to the molecules.. heating them. The hilt began to glow red, and reflexively, Sage dropped it. A slight tendril of smoke seemed to appear from his hand, but the breeze quickly whisked it away. Before the saber hit the ground, she wrapped it in the force and whisked it to her other hand -- cooling it as it sped towards her. It smacked into her palm with a loud thwack. She twirls both of the sabers, and crouches again.

**Sage stood warily, alert for any movement. Her body barely shift when a solid Force blow knocked his legs out from under him. In a burst of speed, she was next to him as he crumbled. Both sabers flashed out, connecting with his shoulders as he fell. Quickly she retreated and stood warily. She hated hurting Sage, she had so much respect and caring caught up in him. He switched between a father figure and a brother, and it killed her inside knowing that she had hurt him.

**Pushing all those emotions aside, she crouched, crossing the duel sabers in front of her.

Sage laughed. He could unleash now.

He ran toward his Padawan with blinding speed. He flipped over her. She span easily as a quick attack was not Sage's intention. He faked a strike with both of his hands on both sides of Beldarine. The move was foolish for the strength was not there. However, with the Force flowing through him, his hands move with blazing speed. She instinctivly brought both sabres from his body and outwards. Sage kicked his legs up and locked his left and right ankle on her neck. He grabed her wrists as the came back to her torso. Sage let himself fall, Beldarine flipping over him. As she fell to the ground, her back approaching the ground, Sage still held her wrists. He whipped her back with his emmense strength. She flew back the other way. Her spinning was fast enough you couldn't make out her expression, but Sage was sure she was suprised. He rarely unleashed his power, when he did, it was not pretty. She hit the ground hard, skiddding along the dry dirt.

Sage didn't mind the lack of sabres for him at all, in fact he enjoyed it. He felt sorry for his Padawan. Her pain was his, and he felt her sorrow. He almost thought it was a plead for him to stop, but of course it was not. He felt a twinge of guilt. Was he playing to rough?

**Leia gave a slight chuckle off as she jumped back onto her feet**

I remember teaching you that move!

**Leia smirked**

**Before Warren can even blink...Leia force sped to Warren bringing her saber back into a full swing arch coming right towards his head. Warren instinctively ducked only to find Leia bring her saber hand back down in a full motion smacking him hard in the back of the head with the hilt causing his head to jolt forward while she simultaneously brought up her knee to meet his face..causing Warren's head to jolt back violently from both strikes. For extra insurance Leia motioned quickly with her left hand for a force push..sending the bewildered Warren plummeting into a tree behind him before sliding to the ground.

**Leia kept her distance waiting for Warren's counterattack**

**She pushed herself off the ground. Pain skittered across the void she held, but it was ethereal to her. Bel almost laughed, her Master was so powerful. Could she ever hope to come half near his power and control of the Force? She had a few scrapes up and down her arms, but nothing too serious. Mostly injuries that would hinder her tomorrow, but now, sunk in her emotionless void, she could not feel. To give up would indicate weakness, and one of the weak she was definantly not. Fight until you cannot fight any longer -- her mother, Chimeia, had taught her that. If she could still stand on her two legs, then she was able to keep on fighting.

**She had lost the two sabers in her tumble, but quickly used the Force to call them back to her hands. She ignites her Master's saber, but leaves her alone. Cocking back her arm, she throws her saber past Sage. It rockets by his face, but he does not turn to watch it. Knowing it obviously was a diversionary technique, he instead crouches lower to the ground. She was a fair distance away from him, but distance mattered not to those who wield the Force. With a quick burst of speed, she closed in. She dove into a roll that brought her a few feet in front of her Jedi Master.

**Springing up a slight distance in front of him, she throws her body into a backflip. Before Sage can back up, her forward momentum brought the heel of her soft leather boots in contact with his chin. The lit saber she had in her hand slashed out, knicking Sage slightly on his upper arm. Her heels touched the ground as the saber she threw completed its arc that it was sent on. It had not been a diversionary throw after all, rather it was thrown like a boomerang and with the Force, it was completing the circle. Using the Force, she ignited the flying saber. Its spinning blade of energy burned a shallow slash on her Master's back as he fell backwards from the blow to the chin.

**In a flash, the saber finally completed the route and sped into her hand. She was sweating, and the cuts made from her fall oozed blood down her arms. She hoped her master would not hold back anymore, she could take it. Could take any amount of punishment, it would make her stronger for it. She knew the Sith would not hold back in their battles. She was sparring with Sage for experience, in those battles she would be fighting for her life. Her one experience with a Sith had left her hurt, fighting for her life. That was something she'd prefer not let happen again.

**Her expression grim, she again lowered her body into a crouch, the duel sabers crossed in an X in front of her.. waiting for her Jedi Master, Sage Hazzard to rise.

Sage smiled. His Padawan was improving by the second.

"For what I am about to do, I am deeply sorry."

Sage rose from the ground, wiping a drop of blood from his lip. His eyes focused on Bel's windows to the soul, pearing into her essence. His eyes glowed a hot white as the flame emerged. The cloth around her waste began to sizzle. A flame broke out on her clothing. She began distinguising it with her new found weather alteration ability. But the flame only grew stronger as she sapped the energy from the molecules. What was happening. Sage was using Alter Mind. He tricked Beldarine into believing she was being burnt, when in fact she was being frozen. With both Jedi's working at the same task, it looked horrific. Beldarine finnally snapped out of her mind alteration. Her limps were stiff, her body was moveless. She was unable to move under this frost to her body! Her entire body had become frozen. Slowly her mind began to fade from the coldness, breaking her grip with the Force. Sage put his hand to the Cube of ice that began to surround the Padawan as Sage refused to stop.

"I am sorry, but I must do this, for you. Only through challenges can I see the true power of your body.... and spirit."

**She strained against her freezing muscles. There had to be a way. She grasped the Force with all her strength, pulling and pushing. Heaving she tried to move, but her mind suddenly became as cold as her earthly body. Her muscles turned to lead, straining against the inevitable was pointless. Beldarine tried to hold on the the Force, but soon the coldness reached her mind. The ice crystals seeped into her soul, freezing it, numbing her sense of the Force. It vanished, and her precious void fled with it. Her brain howled, trying to figure out what to do. She forcibly calmed herself, repeating the Jedi Code over and over again. Anger was such an easy thing to give in to, it would be so easy. But it would also be the weak way out of her situation. Once she turned once in anger, forever would it dominate her path. Beldarine knew she was stronger than that. She felt the peace deep inside, the Force calling to her. Telling her what to do. She relaxed inside her ice tomb, letting herself go limp. Reaching out, she embraced the void again. All of her emotions were fed into the fire, and again, Bel was at peace.

**She floated in a sea of total calm -- ethereal, fluid motion. She could not touch the Force directly to melt the ice, but there was another way. Her thoughts became tranquil, she knew she had accomplished the feat before. Back.. back when she was extremely new, she had disconnected her soul from her body in order to create a breeze. Called astral projection by some, Force projection by others, Bel realized she had the equipment to free herself. Her master was not trying to destroy his padawan, he was merely trying to see if she had mastered all that he taught her.

He will find that I'm a good learner after this spar. I do not forget a lesson once it has been taught.

**Calmly, she disconnected her soul from her frozen material body. It floated silently in the air, hovering over the battlefield. Beldarine watched Leia and Warren fight for a few seconds, then slowly her gaze fell to her Jedi Master. The block was still growing larger, she knew it needed to stop. She observed where her sabers had fallen, disengaging once they hit the soft ground. She drew in the Force. It felt like a beacon shining through a dark night -- a beacon of light, of hope, of peace. Instead of thawing it from the outside, which she knew was futile (her master would simply create more ice to recover what was lost to the thermodynamics), she began to work on her body first. She sped up the energy located in the atoms that had frozen Bel's cell's together. Her soul was powerful, even more powerful than her concious mind. The possibilities were overwhelming. She worked quickly, speeding up the atoms, returning them to their natural state. At the same time, she also melted the ice closest to her skin. Her muscles began to relax, and the ice began to creep away from her centimeter by precious centimeter. Her soul worked harder on the block of ice surrounding the body, increasing the energy going into those molecules. Once the ice was an inch away from her body, she began heating the air surrounding the ice as well. Soon, not only was the ice warming itself, but the heated air surrounding it sped the process even faster. It was melting much faster than Sage could build it. In the temperature outside, ice automatically wanted to revert to its natural state, water. Sage's job was much harder than hers, for her ice gave up its crystalline structure almost gladly for the liquid state.

**Her Jedi Master never faultered, however. Inside her growing hollow ice cube, Bel finally snapped out of statis. The astral projection of her soul made her flex her muscles, hoping they were not damaged too much so she could not continue the spar. They seemed to be ok, if slightly stiff from the ice. Her soul snapped back into her body, coming once more in tune with her concious mind. It felt like a rubber band snapping back into place. The ice was thin enough that she could punch through it, but she had something different. Closing her eyes, she began to build up the pressure in the small ice tomb. She was not strong enough yet, but she was sure the pressure she created would make a wind enough to shatter the enclosure. Releasing the Force built pressure, wind pressed out from all sides. The ice entombment exploded in a dazzling display of shards and icicles.

**Beldarine collapsed to her knees, but stood shakily. The effort she expended building up that much pressure in such a tiny space exhausted her. But she would not show it. She pushed her pain back into the void, and stood. She was soaking wet, the water from the melted ice had soaked into every pore on her body. Quite frankly, she looked like a drowned rat. A very determined drowned rat, but a drowned rat all the same. She ignored the water dripping from her, ignored her very surroundings. There was only her, Sage, and the Force. The blessed Force. With a quick jerk of her mind, the sabers she had dropped when she had become entombed were back in her hands. A dual snap-hiss was heard as they sprung to life. The humming filled her ears, calming her even more. Her legs were slightly unsteady, it had taken all she had to battle her master to get out of her iceblock.

**She crouched low, sabers extended. She would wait. Counter his attack and gain strength, waiting for her next advantage.

Sage bent in and spoke in a wisper.

"You must fight harder now then ever before. Only through pushing one's limits to we increase our ability. Ignore your pain, ignore your cold, fight as if nothing existed, not even your body."

Sage extended his hand, chanting as he did.

"You must use the Force now more then ever. Your muscles will fail you. But the Force will never betray you!"

Sage, through his rythmatic chanting, raised Beldarine's arms. They hung in the air, almost lifting her off the ground. Sage was strong in the Force.

"Can you get out of this? Do no use other means then countering me. Use what I am doing against me. Use no means other then Force Pushing, and do not use it on my body. You know what to do... I used the same method only seconds ago."

**Amazement passed across her face as she hung suspended, feet barely touching the forest floor. She sunk her soul far into the Force, meshing herself with the universal light. She felt the echo of the Force coming from all the surroundings -- from the slightest blade of grass, to the large oak trees in the distance. To her eyes, Sage was awash in a light as pure as the brightest star. He was strong in the Force, glowing brighter and brighter by the moment as he continued to use it against her body. She relaxed all her muscles, allowing herself to go slack against the restraints he had put on her. She felt him pushing against her, and tried to understand what was happening.

**An idea occurred to her, instead of going against her Master's use of the Force.. Bel would push with him. Using the Force, she pushed her arms up higher. His connection broke as she thrust up with all her might, sending herself flying up into the air. Somersaulting in the air, and used the Force to break her landing. Her knees only bent slightly as she landed upright. She had expended a large amount of energy breaking free from her Master's grasp, so Bel simply crouched down to wait for Sage to come at her.

Sage smiled as the Padawan did the only thing she could do considering his requirements. And she did it with absolute accuracy.

Sage never stopped his assualt. Only through exaustion did onen uncover their true talents. Sage pressed on. He would have to simulate a Sith's attacking style to give the Padawan a adequate challenge.

He slid her across the ground. She went skidding, however slowly. She bumped softly into the wall.

Sage jumped down on her, his sabre's tip pointed at her throat.

"Ackward postition, get out of it."

Sage smiled, knowing his Padawan's resourcefulness.

OOC: What wall, Sage?? I thought we were in a clearing, lol... I'll just say my back hit a tree... kies?

**Consternation passed across her face. She had gone from wielding both weapons to hers scattered somewhere in the field, and his at her throat. It emitted no heat, but she could feel the beam of energy just inches from her skin.

**She knew a Jedi was never defenseless, because they wielded the force. Her eyes locked onto her Jedi Master's as she quickly thought of a way to get his saber away from her throat. If her arm even moved the slightest amount, she would be unconcious. She felt the cool touch of the bark against her back as the opponents locked eyes. His hand never swayed on the lightsaber hilt, and her mind searched the ground. Only seconds had passed when a large heavy branch came flying towards the back of Sage's skull.

**Sensing the object, Sage sent a quick force push towards the branch, and sent it skidding to the ground a few feet away from them. The saber was stil pointed at her, but his stance had shifted only slightly -- giving her the opening she needed. Quickly acting through the Force, she propelled herself over Sage. Her muscles felt tired from all the onslaught, but with the Force, she was strong as anyone. In her jump, the saber had knicked her across the collarbone, the wound was deep but it was cauterized by the energy of the blade.

**Searching the glade, she located her saber and called it back to her hand. A plan formed in her mind. Keeping a wary eye on Hazzard, she flowed with the Force up into the clouds. Reaching out all around her, she pulled the water vapor in the air together.. and the sky suddenly started to become very dark. A small breeze began to blow in, softly at first. The sky almost blackened, an ominous warning sign of what Bel was working on.

**She gasped her air, trying to breathe in. She did not have much energy to spare, hopefully what she was formulating would work.

**The wind began to pick up, blowing leaves and other light debris along with it. Using the Force, she pushed a large updraft of the warm air high into the sky. Twisting the updraft, filled with the moist, warm air, she rotated the air faster and faster. In the heights of the clouds, the swirling became intense, forming a supercell. Thunder echoed across the sky as she kept the Force centered on the swirling winds.

**Up in the sky, a tendril of cloud started to guide it's way down, rotating in a circular fashion. It was extremely small, and it had taken everything the young woman had. The funnel continued to spiral down as she went to her knees in pain. The force burned through her veins, sapping away her energy. The powerful vortex extended down to the ground, and she focused the remaining part of her will on the direction the swirling winds would take. It was small in width, but still a destructive force.

**Mechanicly, she raised her hand and pointed towards Sage. The swirling winds lurched in his direction. She was barely breathing, trying to keep the tornado under her control with the Force.

Sage did not falter in the eye of adversity. He ran for the giant swirl of wind, he dove headlong into it.

His body began to spiral in the emmense turmoil of nature that was a Tornado. He felt as hif his limbs were being torn from his chest, and that they were, as well as the rest of his extremities. Finally, riding the force of the wind, he reached the top. He span out of it, free from the strength of it. His body hit the ground and went into a tumble. He caught himself and looked back at the Tornado, it was headed where he should have been. He pushed the wind surrounding it, pushing it farther. It hit the bulk of the Forest greenary and continued on it's way. Try as she might the Tornado would not detour from it's new path. Sage was much stronger in the Force and could handle the strain of continued usage better then she. The trees broke the wind, little by little. It dispersed. A few trees, as expected, lay in it's midst. But it was over.

Sage, now standing, turned to Beldarine.

"Try harder."
