Spar (Dio vs Nichos)

[Nichos Marr]

Nichos Marr, unclipped his cloak and tossed it aside. His hand swept down to his belt, unclipping his lightsaber. He held the smooth weapon in his hand.

Nichos waited for his padawan Dio to show up. They were going to practice Dio's lightsaber techniques in spar, so he'd be ready to defend himself one day.

Nichos let the force flow through him like fresh air. It entered his body, spreading throughout. His senses were now heightened and his awareness level was that of a nervous wildebeast..In other words, he was ready for a good spar.

*Dio, prepared to spar with his master, walked calmly into the training area. He wore his usual training outfit, black pants and a small white shirt. His newly constructed lightsaber hung from a clip on his belt. He approached his master and he began to let the Force freely flow around him. He was ready to give his all for a good training session. He walked to where Nichos stood and unclipped his saber. He bowed to his master.* "I am ready to spar, master."

"Dio, there is no need for bowing." Nichos smiled, "And yes I can feel that you are ready. We are going to test your reflexes first."

Nichos instantly ignited his lightsaber and jabbed forward at his padawan.

*Dio, sensing cleverness from his master, quickly ignited his lightsaber and sent it into the path of Nichos's saber. The two weapons collided and sent a bright shower of sparks from the point where the weapons collided. Dio withdrew and jumped back several paces, focused with the Force, ready for anything that his master might throw at him.*

Nichos grinned at his Padawan, "Good work Dio. Just remember two things. Always go into a defencive stance after attacking."

Nichos ran at his padawan and slashed to the side. The attack was easily block, causing Nichos to smile again.

"And the second thing is," Nichos said as he flipped backwards, "Is to always make sure you have good footing." At the same time he said that, Nichos gave his Padawan a semi-powerful Force Push. Dio flew back and skidded across the floor.

"Now you come and attack me. Remember to keep the calm in your body. Never, ever resort to rage." Nichos warned.

*Dio naturally wanted to feel angry, but that would cloud his perception and put him at a disadvantage. He threw the anger from his mind and hopped up into a defensive stance. From behind the amber glow of his saber, he watched his master, who was calmly calculating his next move. Dio did his best to emulate the calm that was radiating from Nichos. He felt cool, collected, in control of his emotions. In a split second, he rushed to the side of Nichos and did a downward slash, which Nichos easily deflected. What ensued was a lightning flash of strikes back and forth, from each combatant. Blocking and slashing became like an old habit now, as Dio let the Force take him over, controlling his moves and anticipating those of Nichos. The two dueled along the grounds, parrying and blocking in turns.*

Nichos felt a little weary, but that did not stunt his performance. He called on the Force for more strength, quickening his attacks. Nichos jabbed forward, blocked to the side, jumped up, ducked under. His padawan was excellent at controlling his lightsaber, and his anger for that matter.

"That's great Dio, keep it up," Nichos shouted amidst the lightsaber crackling. He slashed downwards, using the Force to overpower his padawan, Nichos forced him to jump back. The Knight focused on the Force and ran at his padawan. He jumped in the air and slashed down.

*Dio felt his master rise into the air and come down to slash at him, and he rolled away just a quick moment before Nichos brought down his saber onto the floor, where a shower of sparks erupted. Dio quickly sprang to his feet, saber ready in a defensive position.*

Nichos quickly turned around, bringing his lightsaber back. He focused on the Force and swung it at Dio, using the Force to control it. The lightsaber began fighting while Nichos paced back and forth, keeping his concentration.

*Dio didn't let his concentration erode at all as Nichos's saber began to fight, as if it had a life of its own. He parried and slashed with the Force as his guide, but soon found himself backed nearly against one of the training area's stone walls. Drawing on the Force, he leapt up and used his legs to propel himself away from the wall. He landed about a half-dozen paces behind his master and brought his saber up, ready to defend.*

Nichos called his saber back to him. He de-ignited it and focused on the Force. He gathered the energy around him. The Jedi could feel it combine like a ball inside his chest.

Suddenly, a bright light erupted from Nichos, blinding Dio. The blindness would wear off in about a minute or so. Dio was now blind. Taking advantage of this, Nichos ignited his saber and flung it at the blinded Dio. The saber began to fight again, controlled by Nichos. Now his padawan would have to rely on his force senses to best Nichos' saber.

*Dio, now blinded, wasn't going to panic. His master had tried a whole bag of tricks, and he was sure that he had a dozen more if need be. He would need to concentrate even more to be sucessful. He could feel Nichos's saber spinning at him, and he quickly raised his saber and met the weapon head on. In his mind he could see everything, and could anticipate what would happen next. He didn't need to see anymore; everything was seen in his mind. He closed his eyes; they were useless. He blocked and slashed like he had his sight, but this was better. It was as if his eyes were just extraneous to life. It was a bit disconcerting, but Dio was able to fight blind with a relative amount of success.*

Nichos jumped backwards and de-ignited his lightsaber. He took a seat on the ground. His padawan was still blinded, and Nichos wanted to keep it that way for the time being. Off to the side, a stone raised off the ground. It headed straight for Dio. Nichos was sending items in the training room flying at his padawan.[/i]

*Dio realized that Nichos had stopped fighting. He then felt something coming at him at a great speed from his side. He dropped to the ground and rolled from the path of the speeding stone a moment before it zipped past where his head would have been. A close call; Nichos was apparently testing his reflexes now. He hopped back to his feet and awaited the next challenge.*

Moments later, two chairs raised off the ground and both went flying at Dio.

*He felt that the two chairs were going to be used as weapons even before they rose from the ground. As they flew at him, he sidestepped from the path of one and as for the other, he slipped his saber up in front of him and neatly cleaved the other in two. Though he was still blind, he could see better than he ever had. Being sightless was not THAT hard...*

Nichos knew Dio would be regaining his vision right about now. He ignited his lightsaber and got up. The golden blade shone against his skin.

"Keep it Dio."

Nichos used the Force to enhance his muscles and ran circles around Dio. He stopped quickly and lashed out at his Padawan's head.

*Dio sensed the attack before it came. In an instant, he thrust his saber into the path of Nichos's attack, and the two blades collided in a shower of sparks.*

Nichos jumped back.

"Good Dio, Excellent. Now attack me!"

Nichos got into a defencive stance.

*Without thought, Dio whirled around and executed a broad slash that brought their sabers colliding in a blinding shower of sparks. He quickly drew back and did a quick series of slashes and jabs that kept Nichos on his toes. Dio rolled back and drew up in a defensive stance, ready to attack or defend at any second.*

"You must attack more! A Sith will not be easily weakened unless you show some offence. The best defense can sometimes be offense."

Nichos looked at Dio a few feet away. Suddenly, a wind gathered and pushed the Padawan back.

"Remember you must be ready for everything. Always have good footing."

*He quickly learned his mistake. He rolled from the blast of the wind and did a quick leap to Nichos's side, where he slashed and jabbed quickly. This time, he did not draw back. He continued to slash and block and parry, and attacked and defended continuously. He did not stop; he was constantly in motion. No rest in battle, anyway. He continued to attack and parry.*

Nichos blocked with extra speed, calling on the Force.

"You must learn to attack with fury."

He found an opening and kicked Dio in the belly. The Padawan dropped back.

"Remember the Force is your ally. Use it."

*He took the words to heart. The kick hurt, but he blocked out the pain with the Force. He called on the Force silently and without indication. In a second, he was off, spinning and attack with a great speed. It looked chaotic, but it was the most effective, powerful attack he had ever effected. He was a blur of motion attacking without relenting, never tiring, a perpetual blur of motion.*

Nichos fell back against the wall. It was quite a suprise this surge of energy. He rolled out of the way and stood up. He de-ignited his saber and threw it aside, wiping the sweat from his face.

"Excellent Dio. We will start training again tomorrow. For now, have some rest. But be prepared for tomorrow. You'll be learning some new Force techniques."

"Yes, master. I think I will stay and practice my technique some more."
