I need a spar...

[Satine Capashen]

Satine walks into his courtyard, looking around. The Jedi Knight had sent a message through the comm network of the Jedi temples and such around Arcan, challenging someone to a spar. He needed a fight far too badly.

He smiles, and takes a deep breath. He had a baggy sleeveless black shirt, baggy black pants, and his customary sleeveless black trenchcoat. Around his waist, underneath the coat, Satine had his wepoans belt, which only held two lightsabres this time. He hops onto the large boulder in the centre of the yard, and awaits his opponent...

[Xazor]

Xazor had heard Alpha's request for a spar and steps into the temple. She looks around and sees him in the courtyard. She too needed to spar.........badly. Too many pressures were in her life now.......and she needed to release them. She walked up behind him and unclipped her lightsaber from her belt. She ignited it and it's blue blade shot forth with a hiss.

Greetings, brother........

She said softly as he stood facing away from her.

[Satine Capashen]

Satine doesn't jump, but smiles as he turns around.


"Hey sis."

With that he ignites his own sabre, the pure black blade--so black it doesn't give off any light whatsoever.

"So, do you want to go first or not. And don't hold anything back."

[Xazor]

She smiled and nodded.

Sure........I'll go first. And don't worry......I won't hold back.

With that, she suddenly fell to the ground and swept Alpha's feet right out from under him. She rolled her right leg over her left and kicked him in the face. She sat on her side and then side thrust kicked him in the solar plexis, drawing on the Force for way more power than was needed. The sequence had caught him off guard and knocked the wind out of him. Feeling slightly quilty for taking advantage of him when he was down, Xazor shoulder rolled backwards and jumped to her feet, regaining her defensive position.

[Satine Capashen]

Satine regains his composure, and gets to his feet, smirking.

"Not expecting that...Not bad sis..."

Jumping, Satine force recalls his sabre, igniting it and slashing down. Xazor brings her own blade to counter her borther's, and the two stay locked like this for a few minutes, pushing against the other's weapon. Finally tiring of this, Satine taps into the Force, and throws Xazor a foot back, and then runs up, snap kicking her in the gut. As she doubles over, the Jedi Knight slams her with an uppercut.

[Xazor]

Trying to regain her breath, Xazor stands up from her kneeling position on the ground. She rubs her stomach and smiles at Alpha. Suddenly, she runs at him and spins on the ball of her foot, labeling him with her saber across his right bicept. It was definatly harder than it needed to be and she stopped dead in her tracks. She looked at the deep wound as it bled onto his clothes. A horrible feeling gathered in her chest as images flashed across her memory of a similar wound she bore.................in the exact same place. She turned away from him as a few tears gathered in her eyes. She placed her left hand over her scar as it brought pain to her now........for she shared it with another.

Sorry...

She spoke softly through the Force. It was almost a whisper.....but Alpha could hear the sincerity in her words.

[Satine Capashen]

Satine smiles, ignoring the pain, and then tapping into his flame powers, cauterizing the wound to prevent further blood loss. It would leave a scar, but he had had worse.

"It's ok Xazor. I've had worse. I've even lost an eye." Satine says pointing at the scar going through his left eye, from forehead to cheek.

[Xazor]

She quickly wiped the falling tears away and turned around. She glanced from his scar to hers.........she thought maybe he didn't understand what it meant. She shook her head and looked at the scar across his eye. She forced a smile, and took her defensive stance again.

Sorry, it's just that........

She paused for a moment and looked at the ground.

Never mind..........anyway, you were not looking for a chat, you wanted a spar. So, let's go......

She said, trying to change the subject as she stood in a horse stance with her saber parallel to the ground at her waist.

[Satine Capashen]

"Alright."

Withthat, Satine runs at Xazor, slashing and stabbing with manic speed and intensity, his eyes taking on that coldness they only get in a fight, becoming small ingots of silver in look.

[Xazor]

Xazor calls on the Force and creats a Force wall. She quickly bends over and gathers some sand and dust in her hand and then blows it at the invisible wall. She created a mental image of a net and then turned the dust into the illusion of a net residing on the wall. Alpha runs right into the wall, and the Force blows him back several yards and he hits the ground. She smiles slightly, as she was impressed with her illusion.

Satine hits the ground hard, and rolls backwards, coming up on his feet.

"Nice..." As Xazor is smiling, Satine calls on the Force, and knocks her to the ground, chargin at her.

[Xazor]

Xazor also hits the ground pretty hard and the wind is knocked out of her. She tries to catch her breath quickly as he is charging at her. Suddenly, he jumped at her with a downslash from his saber. She blocked it with her saber in a rising block. Their sabers locked as they stared into each others eyes. She suddenly uses the Force and throws him off of her. He falls back several feet as she regains her footing, and her stance.

You're not doing so bad yourself...........

She spoke in reply to his compliment to her.

[Satine Capashen]

Satine nods in thanks, and then motions for Xazor to attack.

[Xazor]

Xazor runs toward Alpha, using the Force to increase her speed. She does a front flip over his head and smashes the hilt of her lightsaber into the back of his neck. He falls to his knees in great pain as Xazor kicks him in the center of his spine, knocking him onto his face.

[Satine Capashen]

Just before he hits the ground, his free hand shoots out, and he does a handspring, coming back to his feet in time to block a slash. The two trade blows, each blocking the other's, and then Satine stops the rythim by ducking under a slash, slamming the hilt of his sabre into Xazor's gut, and then dancing away, getting into a fighting stance.

[Xazor]

Xazor doubles over due to the pain in her stomach. She winces and then sends healing forces into the pain. She blocks it out of her mind and once again charges Alpha. She went for a fake slash with her saber and made him raise his as she went to his right side and gave him a powerful side thrust kick in his ribs, using the Force to increase the power behind it. She then spun around and did a spinning back kick into his open stomach.

[Satine Capashen]

Satine instictively creates a force shield, bouncing Xazor's foot off of it, and throwing her back. Ignoring the pain, the Jedi Knight slowly comes in, stabbing and slashing, probing for weak points.

[Xazor]

Aware that he was looking for weak points, Xazor strengthened her defense, not letting him in anywhere. She blocked several slashes and then dropped to the ground, sweeping his feet from under him. She then rolled to his feet and grabbed the tendon behind his ankle, squeezing it tightly and sending a numbing pain up his leg.

[Satine Capashen]

In response, Xazor is sent reeling backwards, Satine throwing her hard with the force. Ignoring the numbness in hs leg, he gets back to his feet, charging Xazor, and ducking under an attack. He comes up with an axe kick that cracks against Xazor's jaw, throwing her backwards.

[Xazor]

Xazor rubs her jaw after the powerful kick made full contact. She blocks the pain from her mind and focuses again. She then runs at Alpha and does a front hand spring right in frong of him, landing only inches away from him. She puts a Force shield around her head and slams into his forehead, creating a deep gash in the middle of it. She then gathers all of the Force strength she can get and Force blasts him to the wall directly behind him.

[Satine Capashen]

Satine grits his teeth as he feels something in the area of his ribs give way, and then blocks out the pain, then charges Xazor, putting everything he can into the attack, even forgoing his usual shields and defenses. The two collide, Satine tackling her, and then side kicking her, following up with a spin kick that knocks her flat onto her back.

[Xazor]

Xazor laid there for a moment and sighed.

Can I ask you something?

She said in quiet tones as she took the opportunity for a rest.

Do you think I am not a good Jedi?

She asked, her tone serious all of a sudden.

[Satine Capashen]

"Well...If you jettisoned the anger out the waste port, then you'd make a stellar Jedi. but not before then."

[Xazor]

She nodded slightly.

Okay.........everything seems to be going wrong.........now I am failing everyone.........especially my Master. I can't take it anymore.......

She said and looked at the ground next to her.

[Satine Capashen]

"Don't give up sis. You can pull through."

[Xazor]

Not when I feel like giving up completely. I failed Verse.......now he is so upset with me........I am not a Jedi and I guess I was never cut out to be one.........

She said and a few tears escaped her eyes.

[Satine Capashen]

"Listen to me! Do not get onto a self pity trip on me. You will make it to Knighthood. Verse is just looking out for you. To make sure you do not fall again."

[Xazor]

He hates me! And I guess I deserve it.....look at me! He deserves a better padawan..........

She cried out through tears.

[Satine Capashen]

Satine gives her a slap on the cheek, trying to jolt her out of her depression.

"He does not! If he did hate you, then he wouldn't have done what he did. He cares about you. I know my old friend well enough to know that at least."

[Xazor]

Xazor rubs her cheek, the sting penetrating deeper than just her flesh. She looked down at the ground and sighed heavily.

I just don't want to loose him as my Master..........he's the only one who.......

She stopped in her words and shook her head, continuing the thought only in her mind. Makes me feel worth anything........ She thought and tears fell from her eyes, cascading down her pink cheeks.

[Satine Capashen]

Satine wipes a falling tear from Xazor's face, and tilts her head up to look at him.

"And I don't? I've tried. God only knows I've tried..."

[Xazor]

I know.......I know........

She said and gently placed a hand on his cheek. She forced a smile and another tear escaped.

[Satine Capashen]

"We'll help you get through this. We'll get through this."

[Xazor]

Xazor nodded and wrapped her arms around Alpha.

Thank you and I'm sorry........

She sobbed into his shoulder as he held her in his arms.

I'm sorry for being so stupid.......

She said through her tears....

[Satine Capashen]

"You're not being stupid. You're just going through some major changes now..."

[Xazor]

Yeah.......I guess you're right.......

She sighed through her tears. They fell off of her cheeks and splashed gently onto Alpha's clothes.

[Satine Capashen]

Satine just smiles, and hugs Xazor tighter, comforting her.

[Xazor]

Embraced tightly in Alpha's strong arms, Xazor began to feel a little better. She sighed and closed her eyes, resting her head on his shoulder.

Thank you......

She seemed to breath the words from her soul as they gently escaped her thoughts and kissed the air around them.

[Satine Capashen]

"You're welcome. It's the least I could do for you."

Satine looks at Xazor, brushing a strand of his silver hair out of his eyes with the Force.

"So, ready to get on with the spar?"

[Xazor]

She nodded and smiled.

Sure........I'd like that.

She said in a confident, yet soft voice.

[Satine Capashen]

Satine smiles and nods, floating over a bo staff for himself, and letting Xazor pick her weapon--her sword.

"Ready?"

Getting a nod, Satine charges, his muscles flexing under his new scar, and he launches into a jump, followed by a whack with the staff, which is blocked. As the Jedi Knight lands, he snaps out again, hitting Xazor in the side, enough to hurt.

[Xazor]

Xazor blocks the pain from her mind and spins around fast. She lands a heavy spinning crescent kick to the side of his head, and then slashes her sword tword his chest.

[Satine Capashen]

Satine manages to move away so the sword only gives him a shallow but long cut on his chest--but cutting through the shirt like nothing. Regaining his balance, Satine blocks another sword strike with the iron shod end of his bo, and then counters, sweeping Xazor's feet out from under her, and then kicking her before she hits the ground, throwing her backwards.

[Xazor]

Xazor kicked up to her feet and spun around. Holding her sword in her right hand, she slashed at Alpha's left shoulder as she sent a powerful Force blast at him with her left. He went falling back several feet and Xazor ran at him. She jumped when he was half way up and kicked him in the chest, knocking him back down to the ground.

[Satine Capashen]

As Satine hits the ground, he uses the Force to bounce himself off the floor, and to send a small fireball in Xazor's direction, which catches her in her left shoulder, and singes her skin. As she steps back a pace, satine comes in, force-calling a quarter staff from rthe racks, and spinning it, stopping it, and taking a stab toward Xazor's gut.

[Xazor]

Xazor stood up quickly and then the jab from the staff knocked her back down. She placed her hand on her stomach and pushed the Force into it, blocking out the pain. She ran at Alpha and jumped above his head. Landing softly behind him, she drove the hilt of her lightsaber into the base of his neck, making him fall to his knees. She jumped in front of him and caught his body before it hit the ground. She then pushed him over and slashed her saber at him and he blocked it by pushing her hands hands away with the staff.

[Satine Capashen]

Satine gasps, and gets to his feet, using the Force to give him strength. He charges Xazor, smacking her hands out of the way--and her sabre too--and then stabs her in the gut, bowling his sister over. As Xazor is about to respond, Satine lands a stinging blow to her face, knocking her back a bit. Finishing off his move, Satine spins his bo staff and then slams it into her side, throwing her a few feet to the right.

[Xazor]

She blocked the immense pain from her mind as she quickly spun around for a spinning round house to his face. With successful contact, she jumped up and side thrust kicked him in the chest, landing with a spinning crescent kick to the side of his head and a downward slash to his chest with her saber.

[Satine Capashen]

The sabre's tip barely touches against Satine's chest before the JEdi Padawan is thrown back by a large blast of force energy--a defense mechanism from Satine. Getting to his feet, Satine gets into an unarmed fighting stance, and motions for Xazor to come on.

[Xazor]

Disengaging her saber and clipping it to her belt, Xazor gets into a hand to hand ready stance. Suddenly, she thusts her right hand toward him, palm open and a Force blast that could knock a Bantha over. It made contact to his chest and sent him flying back to the wall behind them, knocking the wind out of Alpha.

[Satine Capashen]

Satine smiles, and falls to his knees, the hard rock wall behind him cracked, but he was otherwise unharmed, thanks to a Force shield. He gets his breath back quickly and pushes off the ground, quick as a flash, and then reaches out into the Force, projecting his image into Xazor's mind. He has her see the Satine image running towards her, while the real Jedi Knight gets behind her.

As Xazor charges the illusion, she gasps in surprise as it goes right through her, and then gets hit by Alpha's elbow in the back, knocking her forward a bit. Taking off his trenchcoat, he smiles, getting back into a fighting stance.

[Xazor]

I recall my Master doing something identical to that.......... She thought to herself. Spinning around on her heal, she sends a crescent kick to the side of his head. He is stunned for a moment and she scoops up some dust in her hand. Blowing it his way, she creates the image of a thousand icicles soaring toward his head. While he is confused, she runs behind him and sents a Force blast at him. It nails him in the center of his back and pushes him into the illusion which quickly disappears.

[Satine Capashen]

"Where do you think I learned it from Xazor?"

Satine rolls back to his feet, and blocks a kick aimed at his head, countering with a Force pull right into his fist, Xazor's jaw impacting hard.

Xazor stopped for a moment and rubbed her jaw.

Wait a minute. You learned that from my Master?

She asked with a slight grin. She knew how to do it too.....but not as well. She was still learning how to keep illusions present for more than a few seconds.

[Satine Capashen]

"Yup. He's been a friend of mine for a long time. We served the Sith Empire together, and now we serve the Jedi together."

[Xazor]

Wait.........back up. He was Sith........?

She asked suddenly with a shocked expression washing over her face.

[Satine Capashen]

"Yes, actually. Just don't think that just because he was a Sith, he's bad for life. He's turned out better than any other Sith turned Jedi. Much better then me even." Satine says, grinning as he inflates his ego just a bit.

[Xazor]

Xazor looked down at the ground. She had never known that of her Master and wondered why he had never told her that. All along she had felt so ashamed to speak to him of her past as a Sith......when he had been one as well. She sighed and shook her head.

Whatever......

She didn't know what to say. She did not want her reply to sound disrespectful or that she didn't care, for she really did. Things were just popping up at her recently and now she finds out this, not that it was the end of the planet or anything.......just a shock.....almost disappointing. She didn't think she could comment on it, so remained silent with her thoughts flooding her mind.

[Satine Capashen]

"Confused?"

[Xazor]

She nodded and looked at the ground. She had been confused about everything lately.

Yeah.......I guess you could say that.

She said softly. She just didn't understand......anything.

[Satine Capashen]

"Well, try and explain it to me. I may be able to help."

[Xazor]

Xazor sat down on the ground and sighed.

I don't know.......he never told me that and in a way.......it hurts. I felt so horrible.....having to open up and tell him everything about me.......everything I had done......to find out now that he too had a dark past. It sure does not make me feel good to find out now and know that he could have helped me.....that he still could help me........

She said looking at the ground.

That's why he was so hard on me.......that's why he was so hurt and disappointed in me.......maybe he still is for all I know.

She said quietly. She felt her emotions getting to her and a tear escaped.

[Satine Capashen]

"Whoah sis, calm down. Verse is NOT still disappointed in you. He's quite proud of you now in fact. and as for him keeping his past from you, why don't you ask him yourself?"

[Xazor]

She shook her head.

I can't do that now. Our whole relationship has been altered because of me.......and now he has taken a new padawan. Suppose he got tired of trying to drill things into my thick head......just when I was beginning to see it all.

She said, shaking her head as she scolded herself. She loved her Master dearly and would die to make him proud.......but as it was with everyone else......she felt that whatever she did was never good enough, even if it was......

[Satine Capashen]

"Alright, now that's just not true. Verse was asked specifically to take on the Van Derveld boy as a Padawan. What would his honor be if he didn't? Pretty soon I'm even going to have to take a second Padawan, and I normally hate training. We're just that busy. He hasn't gotten tired of teaching you. I know it."

[Xazor]

She forced a smile and nodded.

I guess I'll have to take your word for it........but hey, you asked me to tell you what was on my mind so I did........

She said with a small laugh.

[Satine Capashen]

"I did ask, didn't I? Anyone ever tell you your mind works waaay too fast?" Satine asks with a smile.

[Xazor]

Xazor laughed and smiled for a moment.

Did anyone ever tell you that you think to much? Oh no, wait.......that was, talk to much. I got it....

She said in a playful tone.

[Satine Capashen]

"Of course I talk to much," Satine says with a little bow. "I'm only fourteen after all! It's my job."

[Xazor]

And you're very good at it.......

She said with a laugh.

[Satine Capashen]

"I've had awhile to practice."

[Xazor]

Xazor laughed slightly and brushed a few strands of hair out of her face. She looked at Alpha and smiled gently.

Ya know......I could have never asked for a better brother.....

She said softly.

[Satine Capashen]

"And I couldn't ask for a better sister."

[Xazor]

She smiled and looked down at the ground for a moment.

So......tell me honestly.......what was your first impression of me? I asked someone a while ago..but they wouldn't give me an honest answer.

She said with a slight laugh. She really wanted to know, and since he was her brother.....he couldn't lie.

[Satine Capashen]

"My first reaction? Hmm...Let me think for a second." Satine sits down on the boulder in the centre of his courtyard, thinking. "I guess it would have had to been me thinking that you probably were a newcomer here, and I might as well be friend siwth someone nice, like you. Then all this happened." Satine smiles wryly.

[Xazor]

Xazor looked confused at him for a moment.

What do you mean, "Then all this happened"? I told you that I have tried....but no one is perfect.....

She said softly. She knew that she had messed up a few times, well.....a lot lately....but she was trying harder now, especially since she had two promises to keep.....

[Xazor]

"That's not what I meant sis. I meant I had just wanted to be your friend, and then we find out we're siblings--if not through birth, then by the Force. I had never thought we would become family. I never dreamt I would even have family!"

[Xazor]

Xazor smiled and looked up at him.

Sorry....I have been a little too emotional lately. Yeah, I never dreamed that I would have real family! I mean, you and my Master fill all the places and spaces of the family I never knew.......

She said, her eyes clouding a bit as a few tears tried to escape, she fought them back and sighed slightly as she looked at the ground once again.

[Satine Capashen]

"For me it's just you, and--used to be--Iyza. She's gone now, but I have had friends to help fill that spot." Satine smiles sadly.

[Xazor]

Xazor nodded sympathetically. She hated seeing Alpha sad like this. She remembered how she had admired him from a far for a month or so until she finally got up enough courage to talk to him. It was one of the best things she had ever done. She took his hand in hers and smiled through her eyes.

I'm here for you, brother.......

She said to him through the Force.

[Satine Capashen]

Satine can't help but brighten a bit at those words.

"I know," he replies, using traditional speaking instead of the siblings' normal Force-speech, "That's one reason I'm not that depressed thing like I was in the Bar awhile ago."

[Xazor]

She smiled, glad to see him cheer up a bit.

I am honored to be your sister.........if it wasn't for you and that crazy Master of mine......I might not be here today. I thank you for that in my mind everyday........

She said, almost in a whisper.

[Satine Capashen]

"You're welcome. I just did what you would have with me, had the situation been reversed."

[Xazor]

She nodded and smiled. She was so fortunate to have someone like him in her life. Because of everything he had done, she was no longer dealing with anger. It was not an issue anymore and she was so confident in herself.......now she couldn't fall. She couldn't say anything, but let her thoughts flow freely.....
