Matthias Darkstone's training

[Shade Magus]

Shade sat on a stone in the training grounds and waited for his Padawan. It would not only be a learning experience for Matthias, but for him as well. This young man would be Shade's first Padawan, but he was determined not to fail. The Padawan's first test was to find him. The training grounds had a large maze in the middle of it and Shade sat in the middle of it. He wanted Matthias to streatch out and find him through the Force.

"Come to me Matthias.....find me."

::Matthias knows his Master cannot be too far away for him to find. He can feel a light stirring within his mind, and he slowly pivots in the one spot, feeling his Master's presence.::

I am here.

Shade sent a message though the Force to his Padawan.

You may be here, but you are not here with me. Search me out with your feelings and instincts.

::Matthias reached out with his mind, and could feel that his Master wasn't too far away from him. He had a feeling that he was within the maze somewhere, trusted his instincts and entered it.::

I will not fail you, my Master.

Shade sat in silence, having full confidence in his student.

[Matthias Darkstone]

::Matthias worked his way through the maze, and reached out with his mind. But he wanted to get this right. It was his very first test, and would feel a bit stupid if he failed it. So he needed to sit and concentrate...and feel the force wash over him like a wave. He found a stump to sit on, crossed his legs, closed his eyes and reached out with his mind.
It took him a few minutes, but he visualsied Shade Magnus sitting on a solitary stone in the middle of the maze, awaiting him.
Matthias jerked in surprise, not expecting the force to be so strong. But it told him where his Master was, and he ran off in the direction that he was in. He made a wrong turn only once, and bashed into a tree which rewarded him with a scratch. He smiled at himself, and scolded himself to concentrate. He then turned in the right direction, and eventually found his Master. He fell, a bit puffed out with exaustion, and looked up to his Master to hear his verdict.::

I fear I have not done well enough, my Master. I should have been here sooner.

Shade smiled.

"And you will be able to do it much sooner when your training is complete."

Shade then stod up and hopped off of the rock and walked over to his apprentice.

"How do you feel right now?"

Confident, Master. I know I can do this, I just need to concentrate.

"Yes...practice, practice, practice. These are words that will help you in life."

Practice, practice,practice....

::He said these words as he ran off again.
Five minutes later he was back.::

Any other tests in mind, Master?

Shade nodded.

"There are always more tests....now sit down and just breath. that is the first of many. Control your breathing, everything begins and ends with breathing."[/i]

::Matthias nodded, and did as we was bidden. It took a moment to control it evenly, but when he did, it sent him almost trancelike.::

[Shade Magus]

Shade nodded approvingly.

"That's it.....breath, focus the mind. Reach out with your sense and tell me what you see."

::He reached out, beyond the academy... beyond his surrounding environment. He went along with his mind, whereevr it wanted to take him. He saw his past, his future, the present, life going on around him, an insect crawling on a rock, pursued by another... he felt it. He felt his Master's presence, and felt safe, but another disturbed him.::

Shade stretched out with the Force.

"I can feel something that is disturbing to you....care to talk about it?"

[Matthias Darkstone]

::Matthias thought it wouldn't do any harm. Shade was his friend anyway.::

I lost my twin sister a few years ago. I met a lady some days ago... she reminds me much of her.

[Shade Magus]

"I know how you feel.....I only recenty lost a brother...."

Shade wasn't going into details, but that would suffice to say he could sympathize.

"Do you fear for her?"

[Matthias Darkstone]

How can i fear for saomeone who is dead..

or i think is dead?

"You don't know for sure?"

[Matthias Darkstone]

Someone here reminds me too much of her...
but she is dead, i'm sure of it!!

[Shade Magus]

"Then who here reminds you of her?"

Shade nodded.

"I have had the pleasure of meeting her once before. Nice lady she is."

Yeah, she is, isn't she....

::His voice trailed as he pictured her in his mind.::

"I/m sorry.....if you don't want to talk about this then we don't have to....."

No, let's... it will help if i talk to someone.

Shade nodded.

"Then continue."
