We know that thre will be an attack coming. The defneces of Yavin MUST be documented and rolled out ASAP.

One evil little suggestion... the mines are cloaked :)

The thing is, we have a wonderful opportunity to set a trap. Lets NOT waste it.

Gah..I'm sorry, not good at doing defenses thread. These are just basic, so please feel free to give suggestions or edit:

Yavin IV Defenses

Shields: Yavin IV is protected by two shield generators. One is on Yavin IV, while the other is on another moon in the Yavin system. Both form two layers which must be independently broken.

Then there's the base shield system like the one on Hoth in ESB. The perimeter is low altitude and the shield is always on. It cannot be turned off. Therefore, you'd have to attack with ground troops and not large warships. This shield generator is located in a crater which makes firing impossible, except point blank range. Furthermore there are trip wires, mine fields, moats and the difficult terrain that can stop Imperial walkers from reaching the shield generator. Since the shield perimeter is so low altitude, you cant enter with big ships. Only fighters and small transports may be able to take the hazzardous approach to the temple. The rough terrain also makes it difficult for any kind of vehicles.

Temple: The temple itself is covered in Quantam Crystalline Armor, which only makes it possible to destroy from the inside. Only entrance into temple is from a drawbridge over a moat. Not to mention the elevators and different security levels inside. And then there is a labyrinth of tunnels and bunkers inside.

Ground Weaponry: The Ion Cannon emplacements and mobile artillery units are heavy, and placed all around the temple. Ion Cannons placed on top of the temple and on hills and varios tactical positions.

Orbital Defense: Interdictor cruisers are positioned at hyperspace exit points to pull attacking fkeet straight into cloaked mine fields. There is a tight network of mines and autmoatic gun emplacements which changes through time, so only one passage point is possible at one time. There are 3 class 3 Golan defense platforms in planet orbit.

Special Thanks to Master Yoghurt for supplying me with the info. And to DT for reminding me I had to do this.

is it possibly to cloak mines? Wouldn't they be too small? It's a great idea but to cloak all of the mines would take time. We should cloak a section of the mines making it seem like there is clear path if anyone with sensors decides to try and find a way out. Also should we put defenses on the interdictory cruisers? That way if someone tried to destroy them they would have to spend a little more time doing so allowing us more time to prepare..

Lol, we are jedi but we sure don't want anyone stopping by for a visit :)

Ok, I know this is going to sound weird, but what about dragging a couple of Asteriods to orbit Yavin IV? We could put gun implacements on them and maybe cloak them. We could put thrusters on them to keep them from hitting Yavin but if they stray from orbit and fall, our sheilds should be able to make them harmless. But if anything the thrusters could put the asteriods in a collision course to whomever we choose.

There's also the defenses taken from Hensara III to be used.

I IMed you earlier to find them out, but you didn't reply <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/ohwell.gif ALT=":\"> ..Can you please post them here and I'll add them in?

Sorry, I never got it.

Here (http://www.geocities.com/lordjyanis/hensaraiii.html) you'll find the former stats of Hensara III. We basically took everything.

What about man power? I know we have Jedi, but some are not trained in military operations.

FMH, you were once rounding up a small group of people intitled NRSF. Can we count on them to come when needed? Are they ready? Who the heck are they(names)?

Well, I'm working on the manpower bit

BTw, here is a suggested defence config

Layer 0 (Closest to planet) Minefield

Layer 1 Inner shield

Layer 2 - Cloaked minefield

Layer 3 - We match one for one TSE with the Nebulon-G frigates. These things are basically converted cruisers that have been stacked to the gunnals with missiles and torpedos. They have the boradside capacity for 250 concurrent firings. Even one of these things would take out an ISD.

Layer 4 - Outer shield. Basically gives the Nebulon-G's time to pick a target

Layer 5 - Minefield, mixed with grav generatorsthe pull any approaching fleet smack banog into it

Stand off - The NRSF, NR and HenersaIII fleets. They move in after the attackrs basically get beaten up and suffer heavy losses, they cut off escape with the MC-200 and the Argus doing the pounding. Both the MC-200 and the Argus are enourmous craft, those two alone could do a good job mopping up. They are based a microjump away and out of system

Thence, Yavin becomes a death trap.

lol, these defences better come in handy...I would hate to have them sitting around a planet full of paranoid jedi..

This is is a summary I made a few weeks ago but never had time to post:

* Yavin 4 is protected by a dual shield system. First shield generator located on another moon. Then there is the shield generators located at Yavin 4. Together, these shield systems form 2 layers which must be independently broken.

* The Temple facilities are protected by yet another multi shield system: A short range sphere shaped shield (think of a big Gungan shield), shield barriers (think of it as walls positioned to obstruct any approach by ship) and a long range square shaped low altitude anti bombing shield (think of Echo base). Antibombing shield, and shield barriers are hardwired "always on", and cannot be turned off. Shield generators are located far underground and the emitter arrays are located in craters, which makes firing angle impossible except point blank range.

* Because of low altitude anti bombing shield perimeter, an attack at the Temple has to be done with ground forces. Large ships would almost certainly hit the shield barriers. Only small ships like fighters or transports guided by a Force able pilots would be able to manoeuvre their way through, in the hazzardous flight to the temple.

* There is a dense network of ground to air and ground to ground defense turrets, including turbolasers, ion cannons and mobile artillery units.

* There are trip wires, mine fields, moats and different kinds of obstacles that will obstruct walkers. Not to mention the rough terrain, which makes approach by any kind of vehicle very difficult.

* Exteriors of the Temple is covered in Quantum armor, which makes it only possible to destroy from the inside.

* There are elevators and different security levels. No windows. Only entrance is a drawbridge over a moat. And then there is a labyrint of tunnels and bunkers. There are ion cannons at top of the Temple (think of it as a stair pyramid) and on hills and varios tactical positions.

* Interdictor cruisers are positioned at hyperspace exit points to pull attacking fleet straight into mine fields. There is a vast gridwork of mines and automatic gun emplacements which changes postitions, so only one passage point is possible at one time. 3 class III Golan platforms orbits the planet.

* Ground to space cannons are placed on the dozens of moons orbiting Yavin, allowing an intense cross fire artillery cannonade while the shields are still up..
