View Full Version : Are the Jedi ready?

Just a thought that came over me last night. As we all know the next installment of the Star Wars saga, Episode II: Attack of the Clones will be released in less than six months. An event of this magnitude will undoubtly bring an unusual tide of new members to the SWFANS forums, and many, as I and most of the elders and masters did three years ago with the release of TPM, will be attracted to the now massive RPG boards and will wish for membership in any group. Actually the RPG was founded around TPM's release given to the vast number of ppl willing to give it a try, I suspect that now with everything established and clear rules lined out more people than ever will give Star Wars RPGing a try.

This means that recruiting will be at an all time high, and depending on how the movies portray the jedi and the sith (after TPM most members wanted to be sith because of Darth Maul, including me) there were be plenty young people to enroll on the path of light. This will be a great opportunity to find new persons and thus reactivating the jedi ranks as they were before.

I suggest we have a clear structure ready for the onslaught of new members, and beat the sith and imps in the recruting game. Knights and Masters should be ready to take numerous padawans, and the school threads that are currently running should be expanded. Also the new class of graduating padawans has to take new padawans also.
Of course this is just a suggestion and I leave the matter to the council, just pointing something out, Good Luck and May the Force be with us.

P.S. And also with new recruit comes in new trolls, so DT maybe making a roll call of old Turbogeek order members wont be such a bad idea heh? ;)

JB...reading my mind!! Definetly..we need all to participate and help here. Any suggestions please put them forward.

Maybe this is the time we should really revaluate which padawans are due for a promotion very carefully, so they can do so in a timely fashion. What I mean is like Jubei and Navaria were way overdue. Unfortunately, Nav due to my RL unavailablity.

Hey it is alright Leia, I totally forgive you =P Besides I am patient anyway...

I think a strict outline of the rules needs to be done that way everyone knows up front when coming here what they are and make it a requirement to read them before posting perhaps.

We also need to cement those ideas in that other thread here about those changes soon so that way what I said above can happen.

There needs to be more visibilty of the leaders... that was and still is a problem at TSE and most places.... gotta show the recruits that there are people around to help them

I really wonder if we will get an influx?

If we dont let people know we are here, we wont.

*Sees a newcomer*

Umm ummmmm errrr...

"These aren't the boards you're looking for" <img src=http://www.thegjo.com/forum/smileys/magtongue.gif ALT=":p">

Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if we get a lot of newbies either. Oh joy, more Sith apprentices who find a roll of duct tape from behind the table that just happens to be there and then clobbers my butt with it, knocking me unconscious after some 40 hits all in one post. Ah, the joy of newbies

So you're saying there'll be a mad rush of newbies for both the Jedi and the Sith?

*Barricades the doors*

Just joking. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/image/emoticons_classic/smile.gif ALT=":)"> By that time I should be free to take another apprentice or two.

Please see my above post. UNLESS people know we are here, we wont get a thing.

Think about it.

Well I don't think they are going to show here, but the swfans board will get plenty of newcomers. Which means, we have to be at the boards. Of course, look who is saying this, a guy that disappeared for a year, and don't have the time to even skim this board. I mean you jedi, you jedi that post each night, you have to be more active on the rpg board.

Although I used to be a fan of the "you won't get a promotion if you ask for it," I think padawans should now be able to ask ooc for a promotion to knight in the Jedi General Assembly.

They must:

1) State how long they have been here. Council should use their own judgement if the stated time is enough.
2) Give examples of rps they have participated in (it does not need to be a battle rp)
3) Write their own "trials" thread, which will be judged based on creativity and style. They get to choose their own test. If it's something stupid like "I lift a rock", we know they aren't ready.

It's just too difficult for knights and masters to keep track of all of them.

I also agree, especially considering I've been a padawan since the first of the summer.

<drops in from the skylight into a tuck and roll 3pt landing>

TADA! Well it sounds to me like I picked the right time to drop EQ. I am compelely psyched to hear that we all want to get things back up and running and in better order.

You can count on me for any help you might need. I am on for a few hours after work every night and all sunday and monday on my days off.

As for the participation deal, it takes all of us to make a good show. The more of us here and at SWFans, the more we will attract more and more skillfull RPer's. Boricua, it is good to see you again my friend, Obiwan2 I thought you had long since passed just like me.

I am making a commitment to post at least 4 or 5 times a day, so look for me on more than I was when I started.

Good speaking to you all. Don't be strangers.

Ah yes, the long awaited coming of the second movie...

and the opening of the member floodgates like last time...

is here.

Too bad it plays on this Order's most recognized weakest area: keeping up with new recruits.

I am one among the guiltier of the come and go for long periods of time thing, but I'll be around, and I'm never really all that quiet when I am...

It is good to see you still do check in thought<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/image/emoticons_classic/smile.gif ALT=":)">

We just need one person......one person who will be responsible for bringing us back in to the fray, one organized and dedicated. Due to my complete lack of personal organization I probably wouldn't be best for the job.

Who will step up and help us to become what we once were?

Garik...wow! Great to see you again too, old friend. What can I say? I've been spending time with my love ;) <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/image/emoticons_classic/smile.gif ALT=":)">

I'm still around and am going to become active as I once was. I'm glad to hear it sounds like you are doing the same!
