View Full Version : Xazor Dawnstrider (council addressing)

Sage Hazzard
Mar 27th, 2002, 07:20:06 PM
Sage Hazzard, cloak flowing freely, approached the doors of the Council Chambers. He had sceduled a meeting in one minute.

"I know buddy. I was there," Sage said to his basic speaking Wookiee.

"She was going to kick your -DO-NOT-SWEAR--DO-NOT-SWEAR--DO-NOT-SWEAR--DO-NOT-SWEAR- Sage if you didn't pull the ol' fire hands trick," the Wookiee rubbed his hands together mockingly.

"She is ready Chewnakka."

"Yeah, that's what I was saying."

"So, a Jedi Knight against a Jedi Master, it wasn't as easy as it looked."

The large Wookiee rolled his eyes.

"Wait here. I'm going in."

The Wookiee nodded with a chuckle.

The doors were pressed open through little effort. As he peered into the room the council chairs were brilliantly lighted by the light seeping through the windows.

"Am I interupting anything?" Sage asked sincerely to the Council men and women.

OOC - Forgive me if this isn't proper. But I wanted to say this, and I believe in what I'm about to say IC. Plus, I wanted to Roleplay it. If there are any objections, feel free to comment and I'll digress. Although the spar isn't over, I know that the event that I forced to occur is a clear sign her character has shed her anger. And she is a talented roleplayer, writer, and her character is skilled enough from what I saw in the spar.

::Verse sat in his chair. It was not on of the council's, Just a seat in there for Knghts and above. He could feel what Sage was thinking::

"I agree as well. She has been doing well."

Satine Capashen
Mar 27th, 2002, 08:43:13 PM
Satine raises an eyebrow as he walks out from the shadows. He had always had that unnerving ability to blend in like that, and asks, "Verse old buddy, is this what I think it's about? Xazor?"

Jedi Knight Leia Solo
Mar 27th, 2002, 11:08:56 PM
::A petite cloaked Jedi Master walked into the coucil chambers. She had not been seen for sometime, yet things have not change much in the Jedi ways. Leia may no longer hold her council seat, due to her decision to step down. But still for this Jedi Master, decisions such as the voting process of knighthood for a padawan were very important to her and still very much part of her responsibilites. Before going to a seat with her fellow Jedis, Leia stood before Sage::

Sage, I may have not been around much lately. But I can tell you this. From what I have seen and heard of this Padawan, I believe she is ready for knighthood. You have my vote my friend for Xazor's knighthood.

Sage Hazzard
Mar 27th, 2002, 11:11:35 PM
Sage smiled warmly at Leia.

"Thank you, Leia. Once again you prove we are of like mind."

Sage watched the wise Master take her seat. Although Master is the highest rank among Jedi, beyond becoming one with the Force, Sage seemed to learn something constantly from her.

He addressed the council.

"Great council, you humble me with your acceptance to meet."

Sage bowed respectively to each member of the great Jedi Council. For him, this was not a formality.

"I have came to speak of Xazor Dawnstrider, Padawan and Daughter to our very own Verse Dawnstrider, a Jedi Knight. If it would be acceptable, I'd like to have him beside me as I speak. And perhaps to offer insight when I am done?"

Sage paused for objections. There were none.

"Verse?" Sage called more thank asked.

::Verse stood up and took a place beside Sage. His long ash flowing behind him.::

"Speak my friend. I am sure I will agree with you in all you say. It may be best to come from you though. This being because I am her father."

Sage Hazzard
Mar 28th, 2002, 12:37:42 AM
Sage smiled as he patted his fellow Jedi on the shoulder. He nodded and sent a feeling of calm through him, trying to ease the many thoughts for his daughter. All would be well, Sage knew.

He again addressed the council.

"Xazor Dawnstrider is one of our best Padawans, as many of you are aware, no doubt. I have taken it apon myself to observe her in her daily activities. She has grown much since beginning training."

Sage breathed deep. He allowed the Council to murmer amonst themselves until he brought the focus back to his words. He used the Force to strengthen his speech. Made the voice louder and more clear, and it hit hard on the ears of the Council, forcing them to pay close attention.

"I have taken it apon myself to test her anger, a trouble all Jedi battle with. The Dark Side lingers and is devastating for a Jedi to dwelve into it for even a second. She did pass. I will not bore you with the specifics, let me simply say she has gained my approval. If my word means anything, you will listen closely."

Sage breathed deep again. As he spoke now his voice seemed to quake the walls.

"I recommend Xazor Dawnstrider for an immediant council promotion vote! I await your response."

Sage stepped shortly from the center circle and pulled Verse with him. The council talked amonst themselves as Sage spoke to the Jedi Knight.

"You have trained her well, Verse Dawnstrider. My compliments upon you. Your Padawan, your daughter, is worthy of Knighthood. Let the council say what they may, my view will never faulter."

---------------------------

Outside the council chambers.

Chewnakka was having trouble containing her. He finally let go of her arms, but blocked her way to the council room.

"Listen, girly, you've gotta calm down. Someone wanted me to bring you down here, so don't ask me why."

Chewnakka knew full well why. But he couldn't tell her, because if the council voted "ney" it would be devastating for her. They could cover the meeting's true meaning if the vote did go that way. If it did go positive, Sage meant to bring her in for promotion to take place. The Jedi Master didn't believe in drawn out formalities. If she was ready, give her the title now.

"Now, you gonna stay put?"

Xazor
Mar 28th, 2002, 12:44:01 AM
Xazor grinned as the Wookie had difficulty keeping her away from the door. He finally stood right in front of it.....no way was she going to even be able to listen now. She nodded at his words....it was for the best.

Yes......I'll stay. I promise.

She smiled brightly as she wondered what was taking place in the council meeting. Her mind ran wild with thoughts and possibilities....but she could not just focus on one. Giving into the fact that she would not know until the right time, she took a seat against the wall opposite of the Wookie. She fell into a semi deep meditation to calm her thoughts and ease her soul.

Navaria Tarkin
Mar 28th, 2002, 01:38:38 AM
Navaria smiled and looked from Sage to Verse.

"Yes. I heard about how upset she was after you had her come before you and Satine after the outburst. Not only did she pass that stage, she soared."

Folding her hands in her lap, she continued.

"I don't doubt your judgement at all Master Sage and I readily bring forth a formal vote .... and will begin with my own which is yes. Xazor should be promoted to a Jedi Knight."

::Verse nodded. This was the hard part. The waiting. It could tear a man's soul apart. Verse pushed some of his long hair out of his face. He would have to teach Xazor how to put Garou warrior braids in now. An art reserved for Garou and their kin. One down. Many to go. This was just a step in life. There would be more for him and his daughter. Both together, and seperate.

Waiting. It very well be the hadest thing a father could do for his child.::

Satine Capashen
Mar 28th, 2002, 10:53:39 AM
Satine grins. His sister would finally be a Knight.

"I might not be a council member, but I am a pain," satine says with a grin. "So here's my opinion: Absolutely. Yes. She should be a Knight."

OUTSIDE THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS

Xazor awoke from her meditation. She couldn't even focus as thoughts rushed through her head. She looked up at the Wookie for a moment and smiled.

Are you sure you can't give me a clue as to what they are talking about? I mean, if they wanted me, shouldn't I know too?

She asked him suddenly. How desperatly she wanted to put her mind at ease from the questions and things that she was thinking about. She nervously wrapped her arms around her knees and stared at the Wookie.

C'mon buddy.....you can tell me.

Sighing slightly, she knew she was not going to get anything out of the walking carpet. Hopefully, though, it would be revealed to her soon......

Anbira Hicchoru
Mar 28th, 2002, 01:00:13 PM
:: Anbira sat silent, his eyes distant and his face grave. For a moment, he closed his eyes, breathing slowly. After a minute, he opened his eyes, his hands moving from the armrests on his chair to clasp in his lap. ::

She may have controlled her anger indeed. Yet I sense an imminent conflict on the horizon. A conflict whose outcome remains as of yet, unseen. She will face it alone, but the outcome is...unclear. For the moment, she is not ready for Knighthood. I sense a looming confrontation. A crossroad in her destiny. If she bridges this vergence and returns to our fold, she will be ready to take her place.

Navaria Tarkin
Mar 28th, 2002, 02:36:59 PM
Navaria narrowed her eyes and looked at Anbira.

"Why is it that you have sensed this and I have not, friend?"

Anbira Hicchoru
Mar 28th, 2002, 03:32:42 PM
I do not know.

:: Anbira turned to Navaria ::

It seems to have a connection with myself, but I cannot see further. Something dark, it clouds my mind. But I feel grave danger lies dormant here.

Navaria Tarkin
Mar 28th, 2002, 03:44:34 PM
She wasn't happy with that response but it was all that Anbira knew. There was only one thing she did know... whatever it was that he felt, Navaria couldn't help but wonder if it would affect her too. Considering how their counterparts were related to one another, Anbira and Navaria had found a common ground.

Perhaps it was nothing but it was important to be mindful of such things...

Navaria nodded, hoping that the truth would be known soon and waited for the others to speak.

Sage Hazzard
Mar 28th, 2002, 04:14:40 PM
Sage dared to interrupt.

"Might I say something?"

Sage continued without an answer to his question.

"Should we not judge her on her current merit? Let the Force guide her through the future? I say she is ready now. If she completes this trial you have foreseen, then it is further indication of her commitment to the Jedi. Why say she is not ready simply because there are perils ahead? A Jedi faces tests and tasks daily, every second they fight the Dark Side as well. She has proven herself, in my eyes, and if she decides to falter, so be it. But why would we deny her this title simply because she has a test ahead? Has she not already passed enough tests? Even my tests?"

Sage let his words linger as he once again fell back. He wanted her to be promoted, to get what she desearved. He couldn't hold in his reaction to Anbira, who he respected very much, but at this time disagreed with.

Very well......

She said to the Wookie. She knew that he was right, so she again took to meditation. Loosing herself fully in the Force, she fell into it deeper this time.....her aura physically visible now. Her soul rejoiced in the peace and her mind rested, knowing that she would understand soon enough.....

:: AB sat silently in her plush Council seat, listening to the others debate and talk. She agreed with Leia that Xazor was indeed ready for Knighthood, but was concerned with what Anbira had to say about a "looming darkness". She cleared her throat, addressing Anbira. ::

Perhaps this looming darkness would be a test to her Knighthood. She is ready to be made a Knight. She has proven herself, even to the point of overcoming her anger and troubled past.

I say we make her a Knight, and then see if this vision you have had will come to pass. If it does, then it will be her first test as a Knight, to see if she prevails.

Anbira Hicchoru
Mar 28th, 2002, 09:49:24 PM
It is not a burden she can shoulder alone.

:: Anbira brooded, his eyes staring at the floor ::

It is far more grave than any test. Yet, if she is to endure it...

:: He looked up ::

...perhaps she is ready for Knighthood. Yet I fear there are forces at work, and regardless of the title she may bear, her destiny and salvation are at stake. Though the thought is unpalatable, I would rather risk a padawan falling to darkness than a knight. But I shall concur with the wishes of the rest of the council. Grant Xazor Knighthood.

Sage Hazzard
Mar 29th, 2002, 03:09:29 AM
Sage couldn't resist responding.

"I am a firm believer in the belief that all Jedi should strive to aid each other, as well as those in the galaxy. If this event you foresee comes true, I will be there for her if I am called apon."

He changed the tone in his voice, not so granderous, rather a personal note.

"I believe the title does not make the Jedi. I am a Jedi Master, yet my training and learning never ceases. To lose me, a Jedi Master, or a Padawan, is one in the same. It is a human life that has made a personal decision. Albeit, we all believe that path to be wrong, it is a choice not judged by title or rank. The Force will guide us. It knows the balance of the universe. Who is to say a Padawan is not a greater help to the overall equality in the universe than a Master, or Knight? Only the Force can ordain this level of equality, to contain a yin for every yang. Positive and Negative forces. Dark and Light. A Jedi promotion is decided through material means. The Order appoints a Council that bestows these honors apon it's members. It is a gauge, to judge their ability and understanding. She is at this level, she should be judged based on the material evidence. If she is to become a Knight or stay a Padawan, and go to the Dark Side, it is still a loss. These are titles. Giving someone this title does not give them a special key that opens secret doors. It is a respectful title, nothing more. She has earned my respect, and she should have earned the council's. She is ready to become a Knight. Let her choose, despite her title and rank, what her future is. Her rank has no factor in that."

OOC - How many votes do we need for her to be promoted? 8 is on the council, correct? Does this mean 4 votes, or 5?

Also, if she is voted to become a Knight, I'm bringing her character into the council room and bestowing the title apon her, unless there is an objection to this. My character has something planned for her, if she is promoted.

OUTSIDE THE COUNCIL CHAMBERS

Xazor fell out of her meditation and looked at the Wookie across from her. She smiled slightly as she stood up and stretched her muscles. It felt as though she had been out in the hall for hours. Walking down the hall a bit, she saw a refresher and decided she needed a drink.

A few minutes later, she was drinking a large glass of water. It felt good on her dry lips as she took in the life giving liquid. Smiling still, she leaned against the wall.

So....you know what's going on in there....but you can't tell me? You can't even give me a clue?

The Wookie didn't say anything, but he shook his head. Whatever it was, it didn't seem like she would be informed any time soon.

I didn't think so....

She said softly as she set the empty glass beside her. She folded her hands in her lap and began to hum lightly to herself. It was no particular song, just something to keep her occupied until she could know what secrets lay behind the closed doors of the Council chambers......

::Verse nodded::

"I will agree with Sage once more. I feel that this Darkness will test her as a Jedi. It will make her one of the best, or break her. Inner Demons must be concured. This is a fact. We must judge her on what she has done, and let the futirre runs it's course. Master Yoda even said "The future is always changing." With luck we may pass this darkness without trouble."

Sia Lan Darkheart
Mar 30th, 2002, 01:38:39 AM
Sia-lan stood beside Satine in the shadows of the room. The knight listen as the council discused the future of her friend. For every yes vote, the flame grew stronger but for every no it dimmed a little. Sia knew that Xazor was ready for knight hood but the council might not see it the same way that she herself does. Anbira's point was clear but in a way, that sort of thing taunts every jedi in the GJO. Sia had some darkness in her that she overcame. But being Xazor had been a full fledged sith in her past, it might be easier for her to turn to the dark side. Sia shook her head violently. 'no I will not think of Xazor in that mannor. She is a jedi and I am positive that she will stay that way, even if the council doesn't. I have faith in her that she could overcome any obsticle the council threw at her.' sia thought to herself.

"Yes, the future is always in motion. Xazor could become a great Jedi or in fact be lost to us. Padawan or Knight, if anything befell her, all at the Order would be mournful.

No matter what, it is her destiny to face what is coming as Anbira said. It is up to her Master and everyone here at the Order to prepare Xazor for what is to come, though fate lies within her.. If we are to judge her on what may or may not occur in the future, then most here, including myself, would never had made it past the stages of a Padawan Learner. I am still of the mind to promote her to a Knight and let fate decide...."

OOC~ I don't mind Sage.

Morgan Evanar
Apr 1st, 2002, 01:37:49 AM
Morgan had remained silent through most of the proceeds.

"Anbira has insight into the future that I have always lacked, so I don't know about danger for Xazor on the horizon, or myself for that matter."

"So... I suppose it might be a good idea to draw upon myself as an example and consider the situation with what knowlege. It is not wise to give out anything of this sort lightly. While words, it does mean [/i]something[/i]"

"Each person reacts differently in a given situation: my biggest problem with promoting Xazor since Anbira mention looming gloom, is how she will deal with the rank? I'm unsure about it right now."

Helenias QDunn
Apr 1st, 2002, 02:39:29 AM
It was hard for me to listen to this. A lot was in my opinion, nothing short of nonsense. So there was a point Xazor would have to choose? I had to speak up.

"Do you all forget something? Almost every one of you owes something to one man... who was always willing to believe that everyone deserved a chance. He was almost always proven right. Anbira, were you not given several chances by this man? You told me yourself, he never stopped believeing in you, even when you fell to the Dark Side?"

I stood up, to make my point clear.

"You say she has a focal point, where she will be tried and she might fall. Well so be it. If she falls, she falls. However she has more support and friends here that will see her through any sort of test she may be presented with. I have taken her under my tutilage to teach her the Warrior ways, she has as a Master a very good Kinght and she is held dear by others here. Now if my Marcus, who used to be on this council years ago were alive, he would have immediatly given Xazor her chance and shown faith in her! Because he understood, giving someone your unreserved faith and belief, that person was far more likely to return and justify it?"

I turned to view each memeber of the Council.

"He believed in many of you here and gave you chances you never deserved. So, are you going to do the same as he did?. Well right now I feel Xazor deserves your faith, for I believe it will be rewarded! Mark my words, what will aid her more - to know that the Council didnt put it's trust and it's faith in her, or that it does? Understand that being faithful and trusting in someone can reap a great harvest in loyalty, especially when that trust is placed well. I believe it is very well placed in Xazor.

Anbira Hicchoru

:: Anbira spoke somberly ::

I will not place Marcus' laurels upon this padawan. His appraisal, and yours...are such that I cannot affirm myself.

This is unwise, though my dissenting vote would change nothing. So be it, then.

Sage Hazzard
Apr 3rd, 2002, 02:30:52 AM
Sage nodded, smiling so broad his mouth seemed to swallow his ears.

"These words please me to no end. Then it shall be done. Let the promotion commence!!!"

The doors of the council flung open with a wave of the hand. Sounds of trumpets echoed through the hall and into the room, Sage's doing. He was adept at sound creation. It fit the mood well. A Jedi's promotion to Knight was not something that happened everyday. Chewnakka laughed.

"The kid knows how to be theatric, I'll give him that," the Wookiee mumbled to himself. He turned to Xazor. "Well, kiddo, go get 'em."

Sage smiled warmly as Xazor entered the council room, awe struck.

"Do you know why you are here Padawan?"

Padawan Dawnstrider shook her head.

"Chewnakka served his purpose well. You, m'lady, are hereby granted, with the approval of the council...." Sage boomed his voice to a level that some had to cover their ears. "<font size=4>Knighthood!</font>"

The trumpets grew higher and higher in volume, then stopped for the Master to speak.

"On a personal note, I have a gift."

Sage reached into his robe and retrieved a double bladed lightsabre. It was originally red, but he changed the crystals to emit a docile blue, an appropriate color for a Jedi. He handed it to the Knight.

"This is Love. It has been with me since I was only a Padawan. Treat it well, Lady Knight Xazor, for it will treat you well in return," Sage smiled. "Let the festivities begin!"

OOC - Love is an actual sabre I had since I was a Padawan. Some people might remember it. It's a double bladed sabre, with a detachable middle for twin sabre use. Thought you might like it. It's been with me for almost three years now, treat it well.

You can start a party in the bar if you like. I'm sure no one will object.

Xazor
Apr 3rd, 2002, 02:37:27 AM
Xazor smiled so brightly, she could light up a pitch black room. She bowed graciously to the council members and then to Sage. With shaky hands, she nervously took the new saber and gently ran her hand over the hilt. It was beautiful......and since she had lost her original saber in a battle, this would serve her well. She would definatly treat it well. With a large grin, she could hardly say anything.

I am so greatly honored, mighty council and Master Sage!

The excitement and joy showed in her eyes and danced around her expression. She looked at her Father, who seemed to have a tear in his eye. She smiled and wiped one of her own away. She clipped the beautiful saber to her belt and then hugged Sage tightly. She whispered a thank you and then hugged her Father, for what seemed like several minutes. She then bowed again to everyone and thanked each council member for having faith in her. The whole thing seemed like a great dream...

Thank you everyone, so much! I will not fail the Jedi! I am strong....

She smiled brightly, confidence backing every word she said.

ooc: Okay, should I start it or someone else?

"That you are, Xazor. I would not have put my faith in you if I had thought otherwise."
