Actually, there are some other groups also moving (TSO is one of em), and Ogies and Nup wanna do it all at once. So, until all those toher groups are settled with their own forums, no threads will be copied just yet. They wanna be able to give the vB ppl that take care of the moving all the forums all at once so it's taken care of more quickly and efficiently. Or something.
Nup will probably come by to explain further what my garbled message could not.

That makes a measure of sense.
As far as I know, TSO, TBH and GJO are all for the move, along with several other smaller groups.

I am of the opinion that we can open the GJO forum, as well as the others we have made for other groups that are going to move, up to the public for posting and so that the topic can be discussed in public here in Arcan and at Fans in OOC. I suspect that we will hear some complaints and concerns though from the support shown by most, those should be few and semi far between.
As for the thread transfer, it will take time and yes AB is right, we want to know who all plans to move and what all forums need thread transfers done before we actually start that process, but in the interim, if people wish to begin RPing in the new group forums at Fans, that should cause no problems at all.
At the same time, I don't wish to seem like I am rushing or pushing anyone, leaders or members, into any rash decisions or actions, so I am waiting for all to be comfortable with it and be ready to discuss publicly.

As for TSE, they are aware of the move from the announcement posted at TSO, and a leader of their group has stated today, as a few of their leaders have in the past as well, that they will not move their board to vBulletin or SWFans. :: shrug :: Don’t ask me why, I don’t get it.

Well, basically, AB summed it rather well. There are several groups moving at once, and the actual thread moving would take some time to start because there might still be some to join in still.
So in essence, we COULD move on the spot, but there would be two boards where posting happened simultanously. The new board for new posts, and this old one for replies for old posts, until the thread moving finished. Of course, that might not be so terrible as it was the same situation with swfans for a while.
There are other issues relating to the thread moving as well. Since thread moving does not work on locked or private forums, we would need to move a select few sensitive posts in this forum to GJO adm forum and then unlock this forum. During the thread moving, Avalon threads would be fully viewable by all to see. So some threads in here needs to moved to and locked for archival purpose in the adm forum. When the moving is finished, we can lock the Temple at swforums private again.
Of course, the thread moving part does not mean we cant move to the next step, which I actually planned doing tonight: Moving my announcement thread to Arcan IV for board wide discussion (word is spreading around about GJO moving anyway, so it is hardly a secret, and TSO allready announced their decision), and unlocking vBulletin GJO, making them visible for public review.
Me and Ogre talked a bit about it recently. Here are some of our thoughts:
Master Yoghurt: Would you know aproximately how long the thread moving would take when that starts? I think it was like 3 days to a week for swfans thread moving last year.
Sith Master Ogre: yeah, I think it was somethying like that, could take longer this time since there will be a few ezboards involved. Might be a good idea to ask people not to start new topics except on the new board but they can reply to existing ones with the possibility of maybe having to repost some replies at the new board in transfered topics if they are moved but replies are missed
Master Yoghurt: Hmm.. that would work. So basically, a good time to start using the new board would be when the thread moving starts?
Sith Master Ogre: it can start before really
Sith Master Ogre: people can post new topics at the new board before thread moving starts
Master Yoghurt: Yeah, I was wondering about that. Some people grow impatient and wants to move now, lol
Sith Master Ogre: lol, shouldn't be a problem, we were posting at vB Fans before and while thread transfers were taking place
Master Yoghurt: But first, it would be a good idea announcing it at Arcan IV.. or would it work just opening up GJO simultanously?
Sith Master Ogre: We could do it simultaneously
Sith Master Ogre: that way people could look and consider it on perception of vision instead of just imagining
Master Yoghurt: Hmmm... very true
Master Yoghurt: I think that is the better approach actually
Sith Master Ogre: Cool
Master Yoghurt: If we are not going to use it straight away, I could just post a notice, we are not supposed to move in there quite yet, and it is open for the public for review and comment etc.
Sith Master Ogre: I say let people start posting there if they like, or continue posting on ezboard if they like, their choice for the interim while opinions are weighed
Master Yoghurt: Hmm.. good point
Sith Master Ogre: I'm a firm believer in fereedom of choice
Master Yoghurt: Me too
Sith Master Ogre: ^_^

That's a good idea about moving sensitive threads to another forum while stuff is moved out of the locked forums. I'll integrate that idea for when threads are moved out of TSO.
And Ogies, I still haven't unzipped that file. I did get on last night, but only for a brief time. And I plum forgot about it. So I'll take care of it tonight while my sis is working, hence giving me an hour to do some net stuff before she gets back to take over.

*took a look at the board last night.*
It looks really nice, scary to see it so empty right now though.
