Q: What are all these groups (Jedi, Sith, etc.) that everyone seems to be a part of? How do I join one? Do I have to join a group?
A: Generally, most people who join the roleplay like to participate in a group. Joining one of the major groups generally surrounds you by other people who have roleplaying experience. These people can not only help teach you how to play, but they will often teach your character certain things about the Force, combat and various other skills he/she may find useful. It's a big help for character development. Some groups may have special requirements to join, so it pays to investigate a group before signing up. Be aware that you do not have to join a group in order to roleplay - independant characters are more than welcome.

Some of the available groups can be found in the RPG Network Database ("]Roleplaying Groups category of these forums. Please inquire within their respective forums for guidelines and rules in regards to membership and conduct. A full list of groups can be found at the [url=").

I am also thinking that after the RP Groups category is opened, that the General category be moved into the place of the second one, so that the categories will be like this on the main page:

I wish to move the General Category up to get the Communications, FAQ and Portal News forums a little higher visibility for reference and whatnot.

BTW Shawn ~ I will also prepare a text file that contains a forum to forum listing of all neccessary transfering of threads from ezboard when we do finally get to that point. I plan to include board names and URLs as well as forum names and URLs.

The transfer list will be updated to current state once I hear from DV about TGE transfers.

It is good news that TGE is joining us as well. All the major groups except TSE is moving. If I may say so myself, that is quiet a success for the initiative. The vast majority of the roleplaying will take place at swforums.net, making it a one big central for roleplaying. There will be less satelite boards, and it will bring the roleplaying community closer together. :)

I assume the groups are just about ready for the move, and once the move list is updated, we can start thinking about sending that request to vBulletin support. Unless there are additional applications for hosting that is?

Oh, and Shawn, just so you know. I have read that the ezboard import is complicated, but if freddie is reluctant to do so many boards at once, I will offer my services to perform the thread import process. Complicated and I usually get along with a little work and determination. My technical skills aren't all too lacking. :)
