Just out of curiosity.

I know that the exchange of T.V. programs happens frequently between the U.S. and the U.K. infact, some of the best progs. we have over here come from the U.S. but I was wondering Just how many of our....

"Quaint, little, British" programs actually reach the American viewing public, I visit Florida most years, an have seen a few of our soaps broadcast at odd intervals but aside from these traditional programs, how much of the more comedic, wacky and just unusual stuff reaches American screens.

and of course, do they work?

Do you understand any of the comedy, can you follow some of the more "Jumpy"(?) plots?

The same goes for British films, I know that Lock Stock and Snatch, have made the transition, but aside from the countless Hugh Grant movies, have any of our other films made an impression on you?

As I said, Just curious.:)

Watch Red Dwarf when do see it.

Pink Panther movies are funny as hell and who can forget Monty Python and the Holy Grail? Or any of the Monty Python stuff.

All great and if people dont burst out laughing at the stuff they got no sense of humor.

Hmm, curious and not a hint of historical drama. Well at the moment anyway. :)

Although, Hornblower is the exception to the rule that period dramas are deadly boring.

Well those people seem like a reasonable bunch. I myself watch a little Blackadder and find it constantly entertaining.

Even though I can recite the whole first series script, never seems to get boring.

I think there are a lot of programmes that appear, but not on the major sides.

They've started showing Blackadder again on BBC. Bells was on yesterday :)

Well, although it's not quite the same thing, "Queer as Folk" was originally a Brittish show, and they sort of American-ized it for the US. I've heard that the plot for the first couple episodes was nearly identical. But being that there's only something like 8 episodes of the Brittish show, and 30-something of the American one, they've probably broken new ground already.

I didn't like Snatch.........but I loved ones like Trainspotting and The Full Monty.

Faulty Towers is cool, I've seen a few episodes of that. I also saw a little bit of Britannia Hospital, but that one just weirded me out.

Also, the Poirot series with David Suchet is probably one of my favorite shows.

British comedy is the best. :) But I don't watch a lot of TV. Who's Line Is It Anyway?, on Comedy Central is a fav of mine, the British one. I like the American one as well, but the Brit one tends to be a little racier. :D

Of course Snatch and LS&2SB, and I saw a comedy called "Shooting Fish" that I really enjoyed and now I can't find it at my Bbuster. Grr!

I think most of the best comedies never make it though. I dont think Porridge ever did. And Only Fools and Horses wouldnt work IMO (I dont think many Americans know any French, so wouldnt get the Del Boy doing French jokes:))

Hmm, this is one of the many things I dont understand about Americans, why are they obsessed about the beauty of Paris, and the romance of France, I bet they change their minds pretty damm quickly once they land at Charles De Gaul as the smell of sewage (no joke) eminates from the duty free lounge.
