View Full Version : Leading the Grey

Kakita Yoshi

The universe is a haze of white, goodness is natural, purity is the duty of all, there can be no grey and certainly no black. Only the purity of white can be allowed to prevail, even if the universe itself is lost in the process and only the smallest spark of clenlyness is left then and only then will the force itself manifest and crude biology will be swept away.

A new evolution is at hand, when evil has been raized to the ground by the avatar of the lightside will a higher lifeform assume its rightfull place as the only creation in the universe.

White hair crowns the mature face, eyes white marred with the tiniest specks of black, skin pale and flawless, clothed in the simplest robes of purest white.
In a world of white he sits, the fringes of which are of the darkest hue imaginable, fade to green, in a forest of lush beauty, a posture of contemplation.

I can feel them, the creatures, walking in the guise of men, parading as if i could not percieve their black souls, they shall have no mercy on the day of my judgement.

The snow crowned head turned north and seemed to smell the air, there was a settlement close.

Very well, let the clensing begin there.

Rising from his knees, the figure took a step and vanished from view.

The settlement was moderate in size, the prefabricated buildings were indicative of a offworld colinization and the fumes issuing from the largest of all the structures was certainly not natural.

On the settlements outskirts, unnoticed by the scattered pickets a figure stepped into view, after disdainfully survaying his new surroundings he set off towards the structures.

Come to me and let thyself be judged!

This audable exclamation brought the settlements inhabitants running from their homes, all were armed.

Yield to the Light, lest ye be consumed by it.

The leading settler with weapon (a blaster) leveled at the strangers chest exclaimed,

"And who are you to tell us what to do eh...?"

I am Kakita Yoshi the Avatar of Light and your Judge....prepair yourself.

From the folds of his robe he drew a saber hilt, and without a sound ignited the white blade.

The first strike pierced through the leaders back, the following wide arc finished two other armed settlers, seperating their heads from their shoulders.

The Avatar danced, flashing from spot to spot, his blows unfaltering and leathal, after the first five effortless kills, the settlers fled, always straight onto the bright glowing blade. In total thirty body's lay lying in the mud, but even after the final dull thud of a harshly judged settler falling to the earth Kakita still felt the presence of taint.

The storehouse was a myriad of paths and hideaways, the Avatar stalked them, tracking towards the sensation of grey.

Rounding a corner brought the hunched shape of a girl, she was adolescent and muffling sobs of fear in a damp handkerchief.

Kakita extinguished his saber and stared impassivley at the child.

She is young, but not free from taint. Pain is not the tool for her release.

He extended his hand, palm flattened, illiciting squeals of fear from the child, a soft glow enveloped the girl and faded her from existance.

This planet has been clensed of all taint, the force shall come to this place first, but I must go on, the universe is still besieged by darkness and I shall not rest.

Negotiating time and space consumes all concious thought, Yoshi moved through the void, becoming one with the force and flowing as it did, choosing the place and gently touching the ground.

This time was different, the force churned, rebelling against the unity of the spirit within it, rejecting and casting it out. Caprice was not inherent in the force, the unwelcome spirit was placed roughly on a damp sparsly populated planet.

Light lanced through the canopy of dense leaves, falling directly upon the unshaven face.

"Ohh...what happened?" Groaned the man. "Where am I?"

The figure stood and dusted himself down, some of the mud from the thick forest carpet marred the strange robes he was wearing but thinking no more of it he began to look at his surroundings.

An odd looking metal cylinder lay in a pile of leaves, he picked it up and felt an odd familiarity in the feel and the weight of it, memories seemed to come back to him, but like an elusive sprite it danced just outside of his reach, before vanishing again.

Frustration gave way to mild concern, he had no idea where he was, or even who he was, but his thoughts quickly shifted to food as his stomach growled, he may not know his name, but he knew what hunger was and he set off, in no particular direction, to find any sort of consumable flora.

Someone, or something, was resounding a strong force presence on the planet. Dasquian had found himself once again strolling an unfamiliar land in search for a beacon. It seemed that in his meditations at the Order he always found siren calls from across the galaxies, and today had been no different. He had not begun to trek out across the forest-land yet, however, and was confined to a small inn on the outskirts of the main city.

He sat outside the little tavern, book on the log-table infront of him as his eyes roamed the vast scenery before him, taking in every last detail. Whatever he was looking for, it was out there somewhere. The Force would be his guide through the haze, and lead him to it, so he had no worries as to whether he would find it.

Exactly what he would find troubled him.

The lifesign did not seem familiar, and he could not distinguish what species it was. All he could tell was it's strength in the Force, and that in itself was at least of a well trained Padawan.

"Hmmm..."

He lifted the mug of cocoa by his book and took a long sip, reveling in the warmth of the vapor that spiralled off of it. Today would be an interesting day.

The breeze picked up and carried on it was an unusual scent, it provoked mixed feelings inside of the ragged figure searching for food.

It was coming from the west. With apprehension churning inside of him he moved off in the direction of these new scents.

Negoteating the thick foliage ripped holes in the clothing he wore, leaving strips of white amongst the green of nature. As he moved he could hear the gentle humm if conversation ahead of him, he found cover and observed the beings making the noise.

"Did you hear bout the pioneers on xacltah?" asked one of the gnarled men.

"Somthin' came in and just cut em up thas what I heard." Grunted another of the group.

"The whole place stinks of sithlings," Muttered the first, "The funny thing was, that none of the childrens body's were found, they just dissapeared."

The conversation continued like this, untill the men decided to take a break. Cakes of grain were handed around, and flasks followed these around the group.

The smell of food filled the observers nostrils, his stomach rebelled and he stumbled from cover and made his way on shaky feet toward the band.
Paces from the group, his knees buckled and he fell to the ground, vomiting what little he had in his stomach took the last strength from him and blackness enveloped him.

After about 20 minutes of reading the lore infront of him, Dasquian glanced up on hearing shouting. In the distance voises could be heard talking noisily, whilst one man jogged out of the forest up onto the porch of the cabin, puffing excitedly.

"An old mans just blacked out in the forest, we need a stretcher or cot or something to carry him back up here!"

Ferocious discussion ensued between the man and a number of patrons as the various details were set free. The basic jist of the story was that an old wizened man with a number of scars and bruises had been found slumped in his own vomit on the floor. There was no sign of alcohol or anything else that could have caused him to faint.

Rising up to his feet, Dasquian approached the man.

"Excuse me sir," he caught their attention, "I'm a trained Jedi ... I will be able to transport and heal the man."

A nervous grin came over all those at the inn as they realized the queer looking boy was a Force user. With no other options, they really had no choice but to accept; and so Dasquian was led off into the forest. As they reached the man, he saw there were 4 woodcutters gathered around the fallen shell. This crumpled figure was the Force presence he had been looking for.

"When did you find him here?"

Eyelids flickered and and as before he was under a dense canopy, but this time he could remember how it had happened, he had fallen, trying to get some food.

The men he had heard talking were gathered around him, each one looking at a figure he had'nt noticed before. He seemed to be surrounded by a bright light, it could have been the sun but he waas to tired to think about it, he simply closed his eyes and listened.

"When did you find him here?" asked the stranger

The more familliar voice of the gnarled worker answered.

"He just fell out of them bushes over yonder, bout five minutes ago, came here under his own strength then just, went down."

He noticed the stranger looking at him closley in an odd fashion.

"Strangest thing we ever saw, right boys?"

The small group chorused yeses, becoming nervous about the prostrate figure, and the slight boy saying he was a Jedi.

Surely Jedi are only fairy tales....hmm....things get stranger and stranger round these parts.

Dasquian crouched down by Kakita and smiled.

"Hello there sir, I'm Dasquian Belargic, a Jedi of the Greater Jedi Order. I'm here to help you."

He held out his hand to the fallen man and stood up, bringing the man with him. He was obviously unable to stand by himself, so the Jedi tugged the mans arm around his shoulder so that his weight was shifted onto Dasquian.

"We're going to get you back to the tavern a few minutes walk away so we can clean you up, alright?"

With a nod and smile, not waiting for a reply, he began to walk with Kakita and the others.

The proximity to so much youthfull energy had a restorative effect on the weakened man, he looked into a face of youthfull optimism that had age in its eyes, and felt a little better.

"Do you know me?" he rasped, his voice roughened by vomiting.

"Do you know of my family?" he asked again, more insistant.

"I cannot remember who I am any more." despair and fear crept into his voice.

As his new energy failed him, and he lent upon his benifactor all the more. Before he lost conciousness again, he managed to ask:

"At least tell me my name."

"I do know of you or your family, sir, but I can assure you that I will do everything I can to help you find out these things,"

Dasquian spoke in a voice that was reassuring, a tone that calmed and soothed the sole. In his mother tongue, his voice was melodic and hypnotic even, though this effect was dulled once he switched to basic.

"Once we have gotten you sorted out back at the tavern, we shall see about these things."

After a short uneventful walk, in which the men remained silent in the most part - Dasquian could sense their fear of him, the group reached the lodge. A small gathering had formed on the porch whose eyes followed the troupé up as the entered the main entrance. The owner escorted them into the back living area of the lodge, where upon he went to find some medical supplies and gestured towards a refresher in the corner that Kakita could use if he wished.

"Alright then ... now, tell me, you do not remember anything of your person?"

Still weak from his sickness and feeling groggy from the long walk from the forest, he hobbled slowly across to the rooms far corner.

After half a dozen steps he noticed movement off to his far right, turning his head he saw the face of a mature man, who's face was framed in white hair, long tangled white locks falling over his eyes and a beard of a similar snowy white progressing upward. After a second look he realised that the face was his own, he was looking into a mirror.

With this realisation came a flood of images and a name, he hefted the metal cylinder from his left hand to his right, and faced his young benifactor.

"I remember, my name is Kakita Yoshi." The words were said through a smile. "And I am sorely in need of a drink."

The last illicited a smile from his companion.

The lodge's owner returned with a few medical supplies and was quickly sent away for food and a bottle of the local brew. While the pair waited the younger dressed the small cuts and delt with the other small wounds, it was only after a considerable amount had been eaten that Kakita would continue to speak.

"You want to know about me?" he asked "Well, I have no idea how I got to the forest and until just an hour ago I didnt know my name," he paused to sip at some of the horrendous local wine, "You could probably tell me more about me than I know myself, all I remember is waking up, and finding this nearby."
He extended the strange looking cylinder for examination.

Dasquian looked downwards as Kakita held out the cylinder. He took it up in his hand and gripped it firmly, raising his gaze back to the old mans face.

"Kakita Yoshi ... if you remember your name, then no doubt your memories will return momentarily ... it is likely that you have only had a temporary loss."

Though the Jedi smiled on the outside, he was concerned as to why the man was carrying a lightsaber. Had he stolen it from somone? Dasquian was not one to jump to such conclusions, there was no doubt a fair explanation for him possessing a saber. Perhaps he was a Jedi. That would have explained the Force surge.

"Gentlemen," Dasquian said, turning to address the others, "If you would be so kind as to leave myself and Mr. Yoshi alone, I am sure you have other business to attend to."

They all left with quick pace, eager to exit the aura of quiet uneasiness that Dasquian had created.

"Now then," he turned once more to Kakita expectantly.

"What to do with you ... "

Kakita Yoshi

"STOLEN...I HAVE STOLEN NOTHING!"

The outburst reddend Kakita's pale skin and made the younger man visibly jump.

"I heard you say I stole that," Kakita indicated the cylinder, "I tell you now that I did no such thing!"

He was so sure that Dasquian had spoken, accusing him of the theft of this lightsaber thing, but as he saw the shock and taint of fear on the youngsters face he began to doubt his ears.

"Im sorry Dasquian, Im sure I heard you speak, but by the looks of things, you didnt, how....what hapened, I was so sure." Feeling his wearyness redoubled, he seemed to shrink in size.

"And wht is all this...Jedi? stuff I have been hearing about, you think I could be one?"

Dasquian smiled in reassurance to the old man, sighing quietly with a light shake of his hand. It was obvious that the man had picked up on his thoughts, therefore was as Dasquian had suspected - a force user.

"You'll have to pardon my assumption, Kakita, only it is not often that someone who is not a Jedi would be carrying such an item."

Dasquian gestured to Kakita.

"As for whether you are a Jedi, you seem to possess the traits of a Jedi, though I am not certain as to whether you actually are one ... "

Apr 28th, 2002, 06:38:46 AM
"Hmmph, jedi?" He sipped on his drink again "That seems a pretty good place to start filling in the blanks."

His interest piqued.

"How would one go about finding out if a person happened to be a jedi?"

"Ar'nt there any tests or somthing?"

Dasquian Belargic
Apr 28th, 2002, 06:45:43 AM
"I'm afraid that I don't know of any such tests, though through further investigation into your mind and person I'm sure we could find out. I have to say though, from just my personal opinion so far, I have determined that you are a force user, so it is highly likely that you are a Jedi..."

Dasquian glanced back over his shoulder at the group craning to listen through the crack in the doorway, and chuckled.

"There would be no harm in you returning to the Order with me though, I do not think. It will give you a chance to try and rediscover yourself in a safe environment,"

He paused, slipping his hands into the pockets of his robes.

"How does that sound?"

Kakita leaned back and scrutinised his companion before following his gaze to the doorway.

He leaned forward and whispered to Belargic.

"Im just going to try somthing."

He extended his left hand toward the door and made a backhanded slapping motion.

The door cracked shut with a sound like a falling tree.

"Oh, I dont know my own strength." He risked a nervous grin, apprehensive of his companions reaction.

"The Order you say, like a school, for jedi?"

Dasquian nodded.

"Well, i have nothing keeping me here, I dont even know what planet im on so sure, If you are willing to babysit an old man Ill come."

Dasquian Belargic
Apr 28th, 2002, 07:16:38 AM
"Very well then," Dasquian said," However I warn you I shall keep close watch on you at all times, a man in your position could be prone to ill consequences."

He turned and gestured around the room, "Gather any belonginngs you have here with you."

The Padawan strode out into the main room of the pub.

"Gentlemen, my thanks for your hospitality. I have left a donation of credits in the back lounge as thanks for your kindess."

He offered a smile, then turned to see Kakita was now following behind him.

"Myself and Mr Yoshi here shall be departing now," he said with a nod, "Again, my thanks for your help."

With a cheery wave, to which the patrons replied with nervous smiles, Dasquian paced out onto the porch of the tavern and hopped down the stairs.

"My transport is down this road about 10 minutes walk away," he squinted down the beaten dusty lane then began to walk.

"Follow me."

The warm sun fell upon his back, warming his skin through the tares of his robe, coupled with the warming of the vile tasting local beverage imbibed minutes earlier it gave his gait a roll to it.

He sauntered down the dust track at a leasurly pace, taking in the surroundings, what little there was.

He had been walking for five minutes when a strange sensation crept into his quieted mind. It was a sensation akin to being watched, but it had subtle overtones; violence, fear and blind rage, Kakita had just begun to locate the origin of the sensations when a shreaking Mynock decended from the branches overhead and hurtled towards him.

Memory flared and forgotten instinct siezed control; in one fluid motion he found power within and, as he did with the door, struck the bird from the air. The mynock sailed on its new course directly into the ground, it struck hard, and never moved again.

Feeling shaken Kakita turned and quickened his pace, it took him less than a minute to get within sight of the craft, and less time still to reach the transport and climb aboard.

Dasquian Belargic
Apr 29th, 2002, 09:56:47 AM
He had not spoke in reply to the show of Force in response to the mynock, but instead quietened his mind and focused upon the task at hand. Dasquian lead Kakita into the cockpit of the YT-1300 and took the captains seat, offering his companion the seat to the right. Both belted up and the Jedi Padawan began the take off; pushing thrusters to full whilst flipping over the ignition switch. The back engines of the ship flared a brilliant white, then with a churning of air the transport pushed off into the air.

"You will like the Order," he said whilst in the midst of setting the autopilot on.

"It is a good place, with many friendly people."

Kakita Yoshi
Apr 29th, 2002, 12:30:19 PM
Kakita chuckled at the boys words.

"I may look old, but i need no fireplace to rest by, and I have no problem with bad people, as long as im allowed to re-educate them."

The chuckle died and left behind a thoughfull smile.

The vessel sored into the higher reaches of the atmosphere, before finally breaking into the expanse of space, stars and black dominated the view, and Kakita felt curiosly at home.

His eyes fell from the starscape and were attracted to his attire, ripped and smeared robes, he lent over to Dasquian.

"You dont happen to have a spare change of clothes do you?" he asked, "Its just that you only get to make one impression, and this place sounds like the sort you arrive at well dressed."

Dasquian Belargic
Apr 30th, 2002, 01:30:02 PM
"Spare change?" Dasquian said with a laugh.

He looked over at the bearded man with a light-hearted chuckle. He was well humoured and had a good heart, even if his intentions did sometimes see a little misguided.

"If it is new garments you are in need of, then we shall stop by my quarters before approaching other members. I am sure I will have some robes of some sort that will tailor to your needs."

After some time the craft burst out of space in GJO territory, they had arrived.
