According to the official site, visual effects for Ep. II are now finished!!! I don't know if that means the films is ready to go or if there are still things to do, but they are close... I would think there might still be some fine tuning that needs to be done, but we are one step closer to Ep. II!!!

This morning, in a darkened screening room at Industrial Light & Magic, the assembled audience applauded as the last visual effects shot for Episode II was approved by George Lucas.
The screening session included final shots from the visual effects units of supervisors Pablo Helman, John Knoll and Ben Snow. Helman's crew delivered scenes of an amber-hued Jedi Temple at dusk; Knoll's unit delivered a frenzied melee of Jedi, droids and creatures.

Snow's unit completed sequences from an immense ground battle. The last shot was of gigantic fuel cylinders, knocked loose from a Techno Union starship, crashing into fleeing battle droids as Republic gunships rain down missile volleys from the golden skies.

"Thank you, guys," said an appreciative Lucas to the Visual Effects Supervisors. "Everything was fantastic... you want to do another one?"

BTW, I don't think there are any real spoilers in there, but I figured better safe than sorry. Nothing is really given away, so unless you are REALLY spoiler sensitive, highlight away.
