There really isn't anything I saw that was "bad" about LA freeways when I was there. Nothing looked as nasty as Birmingham's H-280...which is just gridlock hell.

Luckily ours aren't bad. Easy to navigate, and not a lot of traffic which makes easier for uh higher speeds :D not that i would know about that at all :angel

Now, 'bout highways. Beat this:
Took me 3 hours and 45 minutes to get home last Friday. With no traffic, it takes 20 minutes. I crept 16 blocks in 2 hours. All you Californians come to Denver! We had our own traffic problems before you all invaded, and now it's even worse. We have five lanes on each side, and still we crawl at 3 mph. Ugh!

Tondry had to listen to me whine about this one the phone the other day.

The freeway system around LA can be pretty bad... the worst part, from my experiences, is the unpredicability... there seems to be no real obvious times of day when the traffic is really heavy or really light... even during the normal "rush" hours.

The traffic around Chicago can be horrendous as well... the I94/294 split north of the city can be nasty, because 8 tollway lanes have to condense to 2-3 lanes, depending upon the direction of travel. The loop around downtown is horrible for about a 4 hour period from 2pm to 6pm everyday, and Fridays are even worse...

All major metropolitan areas in the US have traffic problems. I'm not going to bother to compare Miami's 836, 826, Turnpike and i95 to those already mentioned, because it would be a lie. I don't really know how LA's, Denver's or Chicago's traffic is.

It is as bad New Jersey's rush hour. Their drivers are a bit better though.
