this might seem like a weird idea and frankly, I have not fleshed it out. So I guess it can be easily shot down.

What I was thinking of is not group v's group... but teams, with a capture the flag senario.

Now what I mean is this (for example)

Two or three teams.

Each team has a "Captain"

Each team has a senator they must keep alive.

Each team has a group of Jedi, a group of Sith, bounty hunters, flyboys, etc.

The best roleplayers are not allowed to choose their team. Thence, you dont have a team stacked with people like DT, Lilaena, Ogre, Loungie etc, they are spread out evenly by random selection if they wish to participate. They are also not allowed to be the captains.

The aim is to assasinate the other side's senator. Whomever gets the job done the fastest is the winner. You use your player resources in the best way you see fit to defend your senator and attack the other team's.

rules and who runs it? I dont know. I'm only throwing this idea out and see who thinks it's worthwhile. It's different and could be a lot of long term fun. And nor is anything I suggest fixed in stone. If the players want to run with this, we can discuss rules and such afterwards.

The benifits are (hopefully) more interaction between people who would not normally cross paths and a bit of fun for everyone in an eviroment that can combine the fighters and the writers.

I like the idea, reminds me of war games. Problem is, some just don't get along with others, whether it be IC or OOC, which the two seem analogous at times.

When the ppl interested post, then the teams should be composed of others they get along with, or just have not met IC or OOC. It is a great way to meet new people by rping with them in a thread.

No sense throwing salt in old wounds by being teamed up with folks that just don't and will never see eye to eye, but perhaps playing against each other, may at least ensue with mutual respect for one another in the future.

Ok, you mentioned the 'best role players' should not take lead or pick teams, but who is to say who is the best? Many people have different views of role playing; some a long creative novelist approach, others short, yet descriptive, and still others with detailed dueling skills. Some ppl harbor a vast knowledge of Star Wars, but as a role player, this should not count in making them a better role player. Rping is acting, writing, and creativity, not a test of SW knowledge. Also wanted to mention, some fighters are writers as well, they just enjoy dueling. >_<

I feel a better phrase in that case would be...to use the board 'veterans'..They could elect team leaders, since they have seniority. 'Precedence' on the board will always be respected, but we as a role playing community, have no right to judge who are the 'best' role players. The veterans can then make decisions concerning the teams. I for one would respect a veteran's decision. The new rpers could PM a veteran in charge of making up teams, and mention who they don't want to be teamed up with, and or who they do want to rp with. The vets could then organize the groups. Just an idea. :\

It would be a definate change from the "duel, duel, duel" (though I'm a fine one to talk with the way I like fighting! :)), and would really be good in getting some of the newbies in the scene.

I like the idea, though it'd be hard to decide on rules for winning, unless a "gamesmaster" was appointed to create events independently of all players, and who could not rp the outcome of dealing with such tasks, only post their attempt, and then depending on the gamesmaster's level of satisfaction with the post, can decide whether or not they succeed.

Just an idea.

One more thing - where's my name. I still can't believe I wasn't mentoned. :)

Anywho, the idea is good but doesn't really appeal to me as I couldn't imagine Gav ever getting involved in anything of the sort. And even though it mightn't be serious in that way, I wouldn't want to just use Gav as a pawn so that I could get involved in it.

I don't know how you would detrime who the "Best" Rpers are.........but Im not gonna go into that other then to say that is just gonna cause proeblems.

What would make more sense is not letting people RP with the People they always RP with.........Like I couldn't RP with Jedah, LL couldn't rp with LV, Dale. Couldn't RP with Sorsha, Deville couldn't RP with Jeseth........like that. I think that would spread people out more evenly. And avoid the who "Who are the best Rpers" fight.

ANYWAY, I'm in, just was curious, if you have both Jedi and Sith on a team...the Jedi would be protecting the team's senator, whilst the Sith went out after the senators of the other teams?

And the other characters would just fall where they fell..bounty hunters, etc... yes..yes... I like it!

I'll RP with just about anyone.......if fact I think there is only one person that I won't RP with.(and it's for a reason I'd rather not go into so don't ask me about the "Who" or "why" ok? Thanks.) Other then that I'll RP with just about anybody. If fact Im working on a very large RP( well for Rama, just another RP for other people) that'll basicly be a invited to anyone and everyone.....and trust me....im gonna give them plenty of reasons to show up. >=D

Now, there I did say there are no fixed details, I was only giving an example. The format however, where teams are formed, hopefully with poeple who dont normally play together, which is the main point of the exercise. So, how peopel are partitioned is up for grabs.

The main point is for players to RP alongside people the would normally do so in a team enviroment, with goals and objectives, in as freer format as possible.

I think there are more issues then just how to pick teams and how many per team etc.

One, is whether or not fleets are used. I think they should within reason (ie no more then 1 SSD battlegroup IF THAT) cause if we didn't allow then it would rule out those that are primarily fleet RPers.

Okay here are my thoughts: It could work out well, as those people who are ON a team wouldn't necessarily RP as if they were on one.

The team aspect would be OOC primarily, with all the RPers working towards one objective. Protect their Senator, and kill another senator, or ALL of them, whatever. Fleets...no thoughts on that right now, sorry ;)

But the Jedi would be protecting their Senator, while perhaps the Sith/bounty hunter type would be the ones out offing the other Senators. Am I imagining this right?
