That would be the first and hopefully only bug from doing the upgrade from 2.2.2 to 2.2.3.

Starship Troopers succeeded in being incredibly corny and over acted.

:D

I thought it was a pretty decent movie, if somewhat campy. But I got the impression that that was intentional.

Ever read the novel? Decent read. Funny that Dizzy is a man though :)

I haven't read it, but I heard that it was drastically different from the movie.

Edit ~ Wait: if Dizzy is a man, then who did he....

Dizzy was a man?! O_o

ReaperFett

Yeah. Ace was a veteran, Dizzy was a man, the friend from School went to Pluto, they were in Huge suits with jumppacks.....

Its like a different book, but with familiar names :)

Ack! I hate it when they change things so badly that it makes it completely different! No wonder my dad hated the movie, he read the book!

I preferred the film. I dont like these Uber Supersuits, and there was a lack of emotions(I wont spoil it, but there is one awful part for emotions:)). The films great, but like said above, it felt like it was written to be like some corny 50s "War is good!" movie. And that made it better :)

LOL I thought the little fake commercials in the movie was great though, with the "War Is Good!" crap.

The reason for that is:
Heinlein was a facist. I'm not being rude or insulting him, simply stating fact.

Paul Verhoven, the man who directed the movie based on the book, on the other hand, is...like an anti-american pseudo-sincere imperialist. He made the movie campy and intentionally warlike & facist and made Juan speak english in an american accent to say that he disagreed with what he perceived as american imperialism, specifically the CIA involvement in Iran in the 1950's. Hell, he even went so far as to say that the Shaw was a propped-up dictator, like what Hitler did with Spain.

You can hear all about his political views in the directors' commentary track in the starship troopers DVD. The movie is campy because he's making fun of Heinlein's political views.

Dont worry Vis, I know Heinlein was :)
