Lynch, I'm about the most PC-hating guy on these boards, but this isn't the same thing as the Black/African-American argument.

Calling all things of Louis Farrakhan "African" is like labeling every person in Germany as a Nazi, and loyal to Hitler.

I don't see much difference in that, since they're essentially the same evil POS, just on the opposite ends of the color spectrum.

To put things into perspective though, the name Louis Farrakhan isn't quite as simple as saying african to begin with. Plus I don't even know who he is, I have to wonder how many people know as you do. I'm positive people don't use the term african in such a context to insult people of african origin, as I'm sure you're also aware.

I'm also quite confident in believing that people of african origin on this board will not complain about people doing that as they too will be aware that it is not done to insult. Racism is such a radical issue that it seems people jump in to defend minorities against things like this for example, which if I am honest is unneccessary.

I consider Malcolm X to have been crazy (or at least lacking in anger management courses). Heck, he went to the U.N. and demanded that all caucasian americans be put in jail for the crimes of some of their ancestors. How vindictive. That sort of distances me from him-I'd rather not have grown up in juvie.

On the other hand, I consider Martin Luther King, Jr. to have been a rather righteous fellow with a well-balanced, cool-headed group. Heck, he even had a homosexual communist in there somewhere. Very non-threatening, that group.

Just so everyone here is educated on this...

Louis Farrakhan is the leader of the Nation of Islam, a group that focuses on spreading Islamic teachings (particularly in the United States) and has been involved in African-American civil rights issues for a number of years. (For reference, Malcolm X was involved with the group for several years before his death, until a 'falling out' with the group's leader, Elijah Mohammed). Farrakhan has been the groups primary 'minister' since the mid-1970's. And, as LL pointed out, he was one of the key figures in the "Million Man March" in Washington DC a few years ago.


Beyond that... I'm not going to get too involved in this topic, other than to say that there are many things about people such as Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. that would surprise most people...
