Nice familiar screen name but what is going on with the personal pic....stop....turn....EXPLAIN! :eek

And whilst you're at it, you must answer this:

WHO IS LUCIUS LAWSON!?!? :mad

Charley

OMG...you remember Lucious Lawson :eek

Wow...thats a great memory.

Well, since I never finished that fable, the answer is that there is no answer.

I hate you! :p

It is LL as:

a) I doubt anyone esle would know about Lucius Lawson.

b) I believe he was being kind and considerate by appealing to the popular demand of the name Lounge Lizard. In other words, whenever did you see the abbreviation TLL, it has always been LL hence, THE Lounge Lizard is no more and Lounge Lizard is here to stay.

Oh how I love me (And before Fett says it, because I know you would: "Well someone has to!" :p) - how? Elementary my dear Watson. Go me! Go me! Go me!

Lets tie it up, stick this 5 foot fishing hook up.... wey! look at it struggle!!! A quick hit with a cricket bat and it's prone..... and now we throw it into the water and we can get ourselves a really big croc, so I can get wet and show all the sheilas my beaut body. Beauty!::

One pasty hand reached into the chest area of his cloak, gripping firm around something he had not used in a long, long time. He withdrew it and held it high in the air, drawing it back as a sports player holds a bat.

And, with a mighty swing, it came flying through the air until it smacked into the side of Frank's head with a wet THUNK. And, as he was flung hundreds of feet through the air, Nupraptor marked on his checklist yet another victim of the Force Trout Slap. ::

He's a bit crazy though, as you later find out.The whole 'eternal winter' thing didn't tip you off?

Miryan & Jared: That's because the Final Fantasy games 'allude to' (some would say 'rip off') lots of classic literature and mythology.

Masamune, for example, is the far eastern equivilant of Excalibur.

Shiva is the Hindu goddess of death and rebirth, as I recall.

Ifrits and Djinns are the progenitors of modern "Genies".

Odin, as I mentioned was the father of Loki and the 'All Father' of Norse mythology. Another allusion to which was the city 'Midgar' in FF7 - Midgard was considered the plane which the mortals lived upon, while Asgard was the realm of the gods.

I'm sure there's plenty of other referances, if you look for them. :)

And Leviathan is a name for a Sea God, and the Sephirothic system was a puzzle or maze that people needed to get through in order to reach heaven, and Tiamat was one of the lesser Dragon gods, and Lich is a god of Death or Rot or something (I forget what exactly) and so on and so on.

I personally think all the mythology and religious aspects they add into the Final Fantasy games only help to beautify the worlds, and enrich the culture of them.

I mean, it's not like all the referances they use are Hidden, and they're used over and over, so it's not like they're using the stuff simply cause they've run out of ideas =)

Charley
Feb 9th, 2002, 05:39:50 AM
HOLY CRAP

Too repetitive?

WTF do you think FF is?

Guys line up...you gotta fight pokemon. Use this ridiculously long cutscene attack, so little damage numbers pop up. Wow, it was just like the 300 before it.

How on earth can you say Fallout was repetitive then?

Miryan no Trunks
Feb 9th, 2002, 05:42:54 AM
FF has huge storylines. as far as I played in Fallout, it was basically just like I said. "Go there, shoot them."

There didn't seem to be any real reason for it, other then to shoot a whole lot of people, and pokemon (There's monsters in D&D, Fallout, and FF, so =P)

Besides, at least in FF, you learned new techniques and crap. All there was in Fallout was shoot, or punch and kick if you didn't have a gun.

Visc: Because "Someone obsessed with ending all existance" doesn't roll off the tongue quite as easily as 'Nihilist'?

Anyway... if you want to play a good RPG, the Lunar games are my absolute favorite, bar none.

As far as PC RPGs go: I loathe Fallout. Never got why everyone is in love with these games.

Good RPGs are Anachronox, System Shock 1/2, Deus Ex (very overrated, IMO, but better than Fallout), Diablo 1/2 and the Ultima games.

Your taste is good for you, my taste is good for me. It's all a matter of opinion, and considering the popularity the Final Fantasy series (in particular) has gained over the years, it Does give off the impression that a whole lot more people seem to enjoy it, than not, when it comes to RPGs. I've just not seen much of anything significant added to the FF series since it was on nintendo, sans the eye candy. I mean...thats nice and all, but there's just better stuff out there by a long shot. So Fallout doesn't have five minute shots for when you shoot somebody. Its still much more immersive an experience IMO, and I don't need PS2 graphics to enjoy a game.

Case in point...Metal Gear Solid 2. It was an alright game. But seriously, it got to the point where half the damn thing was a DVD full of CG Japenese weirdo-logic. Nevermind the fact that the name "Solid Snake" only made me think of "turd", and the whole thing had so many unnecessary plot twists that it looked like somebody with Tourretts syndrome had scribbled all over it with a blue crayon. Sure...movie me a little. Sure, throw a plot twist in a little. But to a sane degree. Beat that game in 22 hours, and about, oh...10 of those hours were cutscenes. I think I'd rather watch the Final Fantasy movie than try to understand the plot (or lack thereof) in MGS2.

Guess the reason I didn't see it was cause I wasn't interested. Didn't look like it had stuff blowing up in it, or blood and guts spewing everywhere. :shootin

Then again, if i were stuck in a little cubicle, I'd most likely go insane and reinact the last scene from Braveheart. :headbash

I didnt like Clerks or Office Space. Just found Office Space waaaaay to vulgar. There were some good points, just was waaay over the top for my liking

What you fail to see is that "vulgar" is about par for the course when it comes to American movies. Heck, just give Scary Movie or American Pie 2 a watch.

Or better yet: Don't.

Anyway, I liked Clerks quite a bit. Kevin Smith can make lews jokes without them seeming too contrived. And he has style.

I had the misfortune to see Scary Movie.

And I certainly WILL NEVER see American Pie.

Pity you dont get in wide release The Dish and The Castle. David would agree with me, brilliant comedy and quite clean.

Office Space...vulgar? Huh?

Where?

The only thing I can think of might be the "Federal Pound-Me-In-The-Ass Prison" thing....which was a riot anyways.

mew? vulgar? other than the prision thing, there's nothing I can remember that would be considered vulgar....*just watched it again the other day*
