View Full Version : I would AIM a mod...

but there aren't any here right now. The RP in storytelling, titled "Fear's Womb: First Comes Love" has been completed. Could someone edit the title so that it reflects that, or is that beyond anyone's power?

And I'm SO HAPPY IT IS DONE! SEVEN MONTHS IN THE MAKING! *hyperventilates and passes out*

Marcus Telcontar
Feb 4th, 2002, 05:29:51 AM
Geez, if the wedding took seven months, how long does the reception take???

Nupraptor
Feb 4th, 2002, 06:09:37 AM
hmm.. tell me why it's so important to label it completed first.

Or no one talks to me.

Congrats LD!

btw - You could always PM a Mod or Admin if you don't see one online (we prefer this, as it creates less threads of the "can you please edit/delete this?" variety).

Dalethria Mal Pannis
Feb 4th, 2002, 12:01:00 PM
:lol Congrats LD for the wedding and of course completeing a thread. Always a bonus ^_^

oh yeah, it took you seven months to get married but finally after nine months having meh little ogies :D

Thanks to whoever did the edit, I WUV YOU! Also, I thought about PMing a mod, but I was tooo tired to click the PM button. Believe me, it happens sometimes. Plus, I wanted to celebrate finishing the FOREVER LONG thread. :D Exactly 60 posts. Ha -too bad I didn't plan that, would have been cool. ;) To me, at least.

Well, LD's pregnancy has been...about 8 months real time so far. I'm finally RPing her with a babe in arms, yet the birth has yet to be fully RPed.

As Tondry says, "Childbirth is gross." So if you all want to be grossed out beyond belief (probably more so for guys) I'm going to be a real as possible in the "Cold Cigna: Closer" thread. And when THAT is done... Jax Tondry will finally be "born."

Even though I've been RPing with him for about a month. Poor kid, already got kidnapped once. *sigh*

Cheer Tator.... That sounds like some potato thing my school would serve.

Cheer - Tator = a word to describe when the head cheerleader takes over the whole squad ^__^

I know, but it still sounds like a potato thingy.

Hey it were Jamie Presselly who took over the cheerleading squad, I'd go to more pep rallies ;)

Old Man Jedi
Feb 5th, 2002, 06:37:30 PM
I dont "get" the cheerleading thingie. Seems like a waste of time to me, but that's likely cause cheerleading is seen as something for extremely unintelligent bimbos and extremely drunken yobs. Cheerleading in Australia is often viewed as lower than prositution.

Dalethria Mal Pannis
Feb 5th, 2002, 06:41:08 PM
Okay, just for those out there that might happen to be or where, or might have friends that are cheerleaders, lets tone it down a bit on the negative thoughts.

Nathan West
Feb 5th, 2002, 06:55:57 PM
I think the cheerleading thing is pretty stupid myself, but there were a few people who did it that were just nice people who were really involved with school activities.

Marcus Telcontar
Feb 5th, 2002, 07:05:26 PM
* Shrugs *

It's the view in Australia, unfortunantly. There's a major cultural difference. It's not a bash at anyone, it's simply that even if Australia speaks the same language (just), attitudes and thoughts on subjects are majority different and this one appears to be one. The main point is that cheerleading is not something that is seen as something to aspire to (eeerrrrr.... that is the case sometimes in the USA, right?), which leads to puzzlement at it all.

But there isn't any denying it is viewed very, very badly here. It does surprise me how many things would appear to be normal and everyday, which I just think "Yuck!" That would most likely be the case if you were exposed to more Australian culture as well. Like that we wouldn't think twice to insult any scared cows.

And once again, I fall victim to the australian tendancy to be highly direct and blunt. I really have to remeber other cultures expect sometimes a thing called diplomacy, which there is a lack of Down Under. Ah well, apologies for causing offense, it was not intended.

Even after years of conversing with O/S peoples, I still can get caught out.

Should have seen the reaction when I called Fire Hazzard a Fruitcake. I get 10 AIM's within 20 seconds screaming at my rudeness, she does the on line equivalent of running away and crying from the big bully and I'm sitting there going... "Wha....? What did i do this time?"

I had no idea what you people's mean by someone was a fruit. Geez, I do now.....

DarthHERA
Feb 5th, 2002, 09:46:39 PM
Well, I took no offence, mainly cause I know where Marcus is coming from. :)

Its true, Aussies dont "get" half the stuff that the rest of the world does (and vice-versa) - they are just coming from a very different point of view, thats all.

I find that sometimes still. I am kiddin around 90% of the time, but sometimes ppl dont realise it and I have to back track a bit and explain I meant no offence.
Cheerleading, tho still gets a wrap as bimbo-ville to a large degree, is quite an industry here, North America, and I personally think would be a kickass way to make a living.
Those girls are far from dumb.

Anyway, appreciate the considerations from Dale etc.

Taylor Millard
Feb 5th, 2002, 09:53:49 PM
LOL, you know I knew what DT was talking about when he said, "Fruitcake". Of course I know the other definition too. Maybe I'm just wierd that way.

Marcus Telcontar
Feb 5th, 2002, 11:04:56 PM
Here is a list of things Aussies don't "get" with the USA

1) Hollywood
2) Why would anyone live near a major fault line?
3) SUV's
4) Anyone who wants to play football in a helmet
5) Cheerleading - But some dont mind the perve!
6) Frats
7) The emphasis on college - any sane Aussie gets out of school ASAP!!
8) Cadillacs
9) Baseball
10) Basketball
11) Why anyone would drink Budweiser when there are open toliets in preference
12) The extreme Patriotism we sometimes see
13) The Bill of Rights - havea beer with your mates? what else do you need?
14) NASCAR
15) The legal and potitical systems
16) The NRA
17) Thanksgiving
18) The 4th of July
19) Why no one has shot Jerry Springer, Ricky Lake or Opraih

(Some of the above are tongue in cheek, but some, like the legal and political systems, that's quite geniuine)

Some things I have discovered Americans dont "get" about Aussies

1) The way we are fanatical about any Aussie sportmen
2) Why we dont drink Fosters
3) Cricket. Oh, now that's a big one :)
4) Why we swim in places infested with sharks, sea snakes, crocodiles, killer jelly fish and blind mullets near Bondi
5) Why we can deck someone one minute and the next buying them a beer
6) Why we dont care less about the political system or patriotism
7) Holden
8) Football, be it AFL, League or Union and why we dont wear protective padding at such a violent games
9) Why our Capital is in the middle of nowhere in a sheep paddock
10) Why we dont keep pet kangaroos and have a koala up every tree
11) Why we live in a place where venomous spiders and snakes are everywhere
12) Our toilets do not swirl in the opposite direction
13) Neigbours
14) Jimmy Barnes

Again, some are very tongue cheek, some are serious.

Taylor Millard
Feb 5th, 2002, 11:09:59 PM
:lol at DT. This is why I drink Sam Adams :)

And I get cricket. Played it an camp a couple of times. Fun stuff. I'll stick to baseball and hockey though ;)

And what a sheep paddock it is. The actual sheep can be found in a building called 'Parliament House'. :)

10) Why we dont keep pet kangaroos and have a koala up every tree.
Don't you have your own pet kangaroo DT? Down here we have an entire flock in the back paddock spreading the Patterson's Curse. :p

13) Neigbours.
