12 Moulin Rouge (WHY???????)

Because everyone has an opinion. The same as how I can't see why McKellan has a nommo

Best British Film
Bridget Jones's Diary
Gosford Park
Harry Potter and The Philosopher's Stone

How does that work? I know HP was written by a British author and starred an all-British cast, but I thought it would be classified as American due to who made it (Columbus + Warner Bros).

I know other films have been classified as American for much less.

Depends on the criteria. The standard for that might be that so many things had to be British.

If a substantial portion of the money put up is British..it alos can be classified as British Film. Were the producer's British??

Except for that WWF Wizards duel. :p

Yeah - he was great - he deserves all the nominations he can get. Isn't his role more of a supporting one, though?
