I just realised something.
My wedding ring looks suspiciously like The Ruling Ring in FOTR.
It may not have fire writing in the ancient language of Mordor, but the inscription is rather similar as well.
"Welcome to Rivendell.... Mr Anderson.
I hate these dwarfs.... It's the smell..."

I was impressed with that site. I think my order came within a week and it's a well made ring. It's just a larger width than I thought so if I would do it over I would order a half size larger than I normally wear.

I'd rather buy new speakers.

That is re-damn-diculous. For those prices, I hope Arwen herself delivers the ring to my doorstep, butt-naked and on a white horse to boot.

The prices aren't ridiculous, considering that they're all hand-made gold rings. And the "Gollum's Gold" rings are from $30-$50, which isn't too shabby in the least.

Hm.. well it wasn't a butt naked Arwen on a horse.. just a UPS dude in some stylin' brown shorts and his personal chariot of choice - the UPS truck. :p

I can think of 300,000 things I'd rather do than pay 30 dollars for a gold leaf plated bronze ring.
Its highway robbery.

whatever you say. :p The people from the Replica Props forum, who spend most of their waking time making these sorts of things, seem to think it's a good deal. There's certainly something to be said for the amount of effort put into actually making the ring. Especially if you want to get into how it is *not* like every other gold band available.

OR for 30 bucks, I can buy a replica Roman legionaire gladius. Actually, thats less than 20 bucks. So maybe that, and a set of shuriken.
you know, 15 bucks...20 bucks...that sounds good. But 30 is just craptastic.
It is the One Ring though. The Ring of Power.
Well, the Ring of Power of Money-Suckitude, at least

Not quite. And not with cursive script on them either.
Certainly, mine reads "Marcus and Helen 19/4/97" and not "One Ring to rule them all..."

15 bucks for a hand made ring.... riiiiiiight.

Not quite.Correct. The One Ring used in the movie had an unusual bevel and unique proportions, which make it quite a pain to properly duplicate.

If you order one Nup, I think you will be pleased with the quality of the ring. I sure am. :)

You know, I can hand-sculpt beautiful art out of mashed potatoes. And a bunch of mashed potatoes would likely be more expensive than a little bit of bronze and a scant amount of gold leaf.
And I'm not charging 30 bucks for my mashed potato mount rushmore, even if its designed perfectly to-scale.
30 bucks is still too damn much to ask.

Um so don't buy one then Jubei.. :p but don't criticize those who want to make their own choice and are satisfied with a product.. I wear sterling silver jewelry and my One Ring is just really awesome.. Gees, I was just trying to share something I thought was cool.. :\

If you could make a perfect replica of the One Ring, to scale, fire-writing and all, out of mashed potatoes, I'm sure you could charge at least $30. :) Probably get a mention in the book of World Records and everything.

It IS cool, of that I'm sure.
Just not for that price.
For a second, I had to double-check to see if they were charging in Yen, Rubels, Pesos, Weimar Deutschmarks, or 1865 Confederate money.

As Dara said, don't buy one. If I didn't know who you were and that you've been around for a long time, I might wonder whether or not you were trolling...

Daegal, I've seen posts from you that would make that seem like the pot calling the kettle black.
Best to keep such happy insinuations in your pocket, where they belong :)
