Okay, I suck at this but ... the Imps are going nuts getting planets. Now of course with the size of their fleets they could take over the whole frelling universe but realistically, this is a game. Are they allowed to have that many threads? And also, are all these guys different characters or sock puppets/extra characters that peeps are playing?

I mean, isn't there like 6 take over threads by TGE alone? Call me nuts but that doesn't seem right to me.

What I'd like to know is how Pierce is coming along with his proposed Fleet redraft.

I keep hearing he's working on it and ideas are being added but I don't think anyone has heard of when it may be completed or what it may entail.

Its been a while since I even heard any kind of update on it, and yes, I agree that the big planet grab is a bit too much too fast.

Okay, I talked to Pierce about the proposal and learned that the notes he had for it were all on his old PC, which was infected with a virus and then traded in for another, thence he lost his notes and such. He has since posted a topic in the OOC forum stating what is going on and asking if anyone recalls what conclusions they had come to (those he had talked to personally).

P.S. I am going to make his Evil Hobgoblin character a moderator as well, and ass some notes to the admin list about Darth Vader being the same person as Sanis Prent and Evil Hobgoblin being Pierce Tondry.

Speaking of which, why has Sanis got both Sanis Prent as well as Darth Vader listed in the moderator list in the rolpelaying forums? Increased exposure?

I can understand wanting multiple accounts to have mod/admin powers, but why have them all listed?

If they aren't listed, they don't get the abilities in the forums.

Mod powers only work in the forums they are assigned to. they have the ability to ban usernames across the board, but not look up IPs or Edit in forums that they are listed in. Though they can see IPs in the Who's Online actvity screen.

Likes having his mod test account so he knows these things. Points at Ethereal Ogre as a mod of this forum.

Oh I see. I thought you could have global mods as well ala ezboard.

I guess I'll update the score list then:

vBulletin: 2654
Ezboard: 2

Well, you can if you make them Super Mods...I think, but that gives them access to the Admin control panel too, though you may be able to take that access away. I need to play with that a bit.

Okay, I managed to make the regular Mods into Super Mods, so the mods have boardwide mod ability and no access to admin control panel. I'll adjust the forum displays and FAQ accordingly. :)

sorry, missed a beat. So the current mods are now mods board-wide, ya?

Yeah, mainly for purposes of getting rid of ilk that plagues our forums with profanity or pornography, otherwise your duties befall your assigned sections.

assigned sectors? Didn't know this was a power plant or something ;) :)

I understand though. It's not so we moderate other boards as such

:: looks at Roleplaying mod list ::

Have you demoted yourself Ogre? You're not listed anymore up the top of the roleplaying forums.

TheHolo.Net

Nah, Ogre is a Roleplaying Administrator and most know its me in this account anyway, so why confuse ppl more.

:: shrugs ::

I have myself listed as a mod for the SW section, so I was just curious. :)

Dav: Actually, I haven't made more than a couple of posts on the subject of Fleet Draft progress, partly because there hasn't been much. :-/ I had expected to be able to finish everything over the holidays (after exams, in other words), but with the virus I couldn't get to the information. I held out mentioning it because I was hoping the drive could be repaired, but my dad rather arbitrarily got a new hard drive and let the old one go. I wish I'd been there to stop that, but...

I finally got word back from the place last week about it and got dismally miserable. I half forgot it in a way until Ogre reminded me about it last night.

Can't stew in my own juices forever, unfortunately.

Anywho... so I am back at square one now. I found that I do indeed have a copy of the original unrevised draft at my personal forum and am working on inserting a few of the things I remember from the conversations into it. One bright idea occurred to me while I was typing this. Does anybody want me to e-mail them a copy of the draft with my minor revisions? It would be a way of safeguarding them, as I am going to have to do all my alterations from an online source rather than a personal copy or disk.

By the way, thanks for giving this nick Mod powers, Ogre. Helps me out a bundle because this laptop has some odd access quirks. I originally had to load a copy of the page I sent to myself via e-mail to get it to allow me in.

I really hate my brother's laptop, even if it is the only way I can get online. The keys are too wide and it has too many hangups when I try to go to some of the sites I used to go to because they're "not school related". Grrr...

This is all well and good lol glad the mod thing was taken care of and Hob is working on the fleet stuff but any thoughts to what i said first off in this thread? :)

D'oh!

I knew there was something I was forgetting. I swear I lose brain cells by the minute...

Yeah, I think we may want to include a provision in the rules about a lull time between individual takeover threads. In my eyes, there should only be one (maximum two) Fleet threads being undertaken by a particular group at any given time. It would be worth it, I think, to put up a general message requesting TGE to tone down their aggressive streak.

That is, it would if everyone agreed with me. Do they?

Wasn't there an earlier ruling concerning this very same issue from a while back? I'm sure that there was a thread limit placed back then.

I honestly don't remember but I do think that is right... I think it came about the same time that a take over thread needed to be about 30 posts long too.

ReaperFett
Jan 24th, 2002, 01:43:50 PM
I would say 2 maximum is best.

TheHolo.Net
Jan 24th, 2002, 02:12:20 PM
It would probably be worth mentioning in the thread where the 30 post per takeover thread was recently mentioned.

Well, add six to TGE ... granted I am biased because it is happening in my thread now Bakura -_-

If something isn't said soon we are going to be dealing with, 7,8,9 threads that TGE will of course start doing if something isn't done. We all know it -_-

And of course, it onlt takes someone to find a huge list of planet names, and start going down the list
