As for your question, I have no idea why that medical droid was there unless they were afraid of the empire attacking them before they went on the Death Star Run

Maybe it was a psychologist droid there to help with any pilots suffering from pre-Death Star attack run jitters. :)

I just CAN'T TAKE IT doc! I try to be nice and talk to the guy and all, but he just keeps talking about that dumb maneuver at the battle of Taanab. I feel like I'm going crazy...

Who knows maybe that droid was there for other reasons maybe he/she was after a certain droid we all know;)

Maybe it wasn't just any medical droid. Maybe it was the senior medical officer of the rebellion ... :)

He's the confidence booster droid. He goes around saying things like "You can do it!" and "I have faith in you sir, ma'm, or other" to all of them.
