There is no purpose...

I just want to chat to anyone who comes past. My manager seems to have resigned today and I have developed a liking to Kid Rock.

What a weird day

Gav Mortis

Kid Rock is pretty good, alas it seems that he has only one really good song per album, namely "Bawitadaba," "American Bad Ass" and "Forever."

I'm actually going through...a Celine Dion phase at the moment! :eek

"That's the way it is" cheers me up every time, she's graced with a voice that outmaches even the fairest of angels. I know you don't like the Titanic theme but I have to keep coming back to that voice.

Heh...to think last night I was listening to Slipknot and Marilyn Manson. :)

Marcus Telcontar
Jan 16th, 2002, 07:14:14 PM
Celine Dion?!?!

Actually, I admit I rather like the Titanic Theme as a musical piece. It is quite good..... in moderation. Repeated exposure IS ugly.

Jan 16th, 2002, 07:45:33 PM
If "American Badass" is the song where he takes the Metallica music and spouts random lyrics that are recycled from every other one of his songs... I think it's absolute trash.

Marcus Telcontar
Jan 16th, 2002, 07:53:28 PM
Kid Rock is very ego centric and repeditive (No s*** everyone else says) which would mean he will never be huge in Australia, he would be cut down with chainsaws in a second, but be that as it may, not too bad. Have to say American Bad Ass is pretty ordinary tho.

Kid Rock is newish here, which again may sound weird, but the only song I think Aussies could identify of his is Cowboy and even them we wold have no idea who that is.

Alec Lafeyette
Jan 16th, 2002, 07:57:56 PM
Yeah that's the one, it sounds just like a Metallica song in the beginning. Thought I was the only one who recognized it.

Egos and repetativeness are cut down with chainsaws in Australia? Lucky you.

I love Kid Rock...great stuff...especially mixing alot of genres together and coming up with stuff that has a unique sound. I love that in my music :)

I like Kid Rock

I am diversified with all of my music, I like too much. People say that my opinion doesnt count when judging music because I like it all.

I am mostly into Heavy Metal, Rock, and Alternative.

Right now I am loving Linkin Park...But also enjoying some of Hoobastank

Alec Lafeyette
Jan 16th, 2002, 08:19:32 PM
Hoobastank is good, I've heard a few of their songs. I used to like Linkin Park but I'm into Nickleback now.

I like rap core, heavy metal, soft rock and kind of classical but only a few things.
The Kid rock topic though I liked him when he came out but after about 6 thousand times of cowboy I can't stand it anymore and the new stuff is really bad. I like linkin park alot and there ok in concert. Never heard of hoobastank though

From what I've heard Hoobastank is pretty East Coast..though they may have gone westward.. Or started Westward and gone Eastward. But all my friends know them.

Offspring Offspring Offspring!

The only song I tolerate from Kid Rock is Cowboy. Or whatever its called.

I love Offspring, they're so FUN to listen to! And I can do a mean Celine Dion impression with my voice, or so I've been told. Comes from having "That's The Way It Is" on the music at my old work. She is so nasal! *shudders* But not in the same way as you might think...all her words come through her nose I think...its weird to sing like her...

*mumbles more random things*

Hoobastank toured with Incubus...

Crawling in the Dark is probably their best song, but I have only heard 3 of em.

Me, Im kinda fond of Rob Zombie, but not White Zombie. Go fig on that one.....
I like Ozzy, Alice Copper, Disturbed.....

But that is just one side. On the other I got groups like Oasis, Weezer, Elastica........but im leaning more to that first side right now.

and I don't Limp Bizkit so don't even ask. :p

On the Subject of Kid Rock....im kinda like the Song "Cocky".

Im listening to the best damn love song ever right now.

U2 - With or Without you.

See the stone set in your eyes
See the thorn twist in your side
I wait for you

Sleight of hand and twist of fate
On a bed of nails she makes me wait
And I wait without you

With or without you
With or without you

Through the storm we reach the shore
You give it all but I want more
And I'm waiting for you

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away

My hands are tied
My body bruised, she's got me with
Nothing to win and
Nothing left to lose

And you give yourself away
And you give yourself away
And you give
And you give
And you give yourself away

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you

With or without you
With or without you
I can't live
With or without you
With or without you

To me, it's a almost perfect blend of singing, lyrics and song. Often I like to find out what a song is about and these are some I found....

So familiar and overwhelmingly warm
This one, this form I hold now.
Embracing you, this reality here,
This one, this form I hold now, so
Wide eyed and hopeful.
Wide eyed and hopefully wild.

We barely remember what came before this precious moment,
Choosing to be here right now. Hold on, stay inside...
This body holding me, reminding me that I am not alone in
This body makes me feel eternal. All this pain is an illusion.

We barely remember who or what came before this precious moment,
We are choosing to be here right now. Hold on, stay inside
This holy reality, this holy experience.
Choosing to be here in

This body. This body holding me. Be my reminder here that I am not alone in
This body, this body holding me, feeling eternal
All this pain is an illusion.

Alive, I

In this holy reality, in this holy experience. Choosing to be here in

This body. This body holding me. Be my reminder here that I am not alone in
This body, this body holding me, feeling eternal
All this pain is an illusion.

Twirling round with this familiar parable.
Spinning, weaving round each new experience.
Recognize this as a holy gift and celebrate this chance to be alive and breathing.

This body holding me reminds me of my own mortality.
Embrace this moment. Remember. We are eternal.
All this pain is an illusion.

--------------

Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
lets me see.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn beyond the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition, missing opportunities and I must
Feed my will to feel my moment drawing way outside the lines.

Black then white are all I see in my infancy.
red and yellow then came to be, reaching out to me.
lets me see there is so much more
and beckons me to look through to these infinite possibilities.
As below, so above and beyond, I imagine
drawn outside the lines of reason.
Push the envelope. Watch it bend.

Over thinking, over analyzing separates the body from the mind.
Withering my intuition leaving all these opportunities behind.

Feed my will to feel this moment urging me to cross the line.
Reaching out to embrace the random.
Reaching out to embrace whatever may come.

I embrace my desire to
feel the rhythm, to feel connected
enough to step aside and weep like a widow
to feel inspired, to fathom the power,
to witness the beauty, to bathe in the fountain,
to swing on the spiral
of our divinity and still be a human.

With my feet upon the ground I lose myself
between the sounds and open wide to suck it in,
I feel it move across my skin.
I'm reaching up and reaching out,
I'm reaching for the random or what ever will bewilder me.
And following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
We'll ride the spiral to the end and may just go where no one's been.

Spiral out. Keep going, going...

-------------------------

I have come curiously close to the end, down
Beneath my self-indulgent pitiful hole,
Defeated, I concede and
Move closer
I may find comfort here
I may find peace within the emptiness
How pitiful

It's calling me...

And in my darkest moment, fetal and weeping
The moon tells me a secret - my confidant
As full and bright as I am
This light is not my own and
A million light reflections pass over me

Its source is bright and endless
She resuscitates the hopeless
Without her, we are lifeless satellites drifting

And as I pull my head out I am without one doubt
Don't wanna be down here feeding my narcissism.
I must crucify the ego before it's far too late
I pray the light lifts me out
Before I pine away.

So crucify the ego, before it's far too late
To leave behind this place so negative and blind and cynical,
And you will come to find that we are all one mind
Capable of all that's imagined and all conceivable.
Just let the light touch you
And let the words spill through
And let them pass right through
Bringing out our hope and reason ...
before we pine away.

I like a lot of music, bands, artists... infact the list is long, but if yiu know those songs, they're from my favorite band tool. I like their older stuff a little more, but these are my favorite from the new album. I like the direction they are going in, as always the lyrics are in god taste and very meaningful, the music to has progresed... I like tool... Did i mention how bored I am???

"With or without you" is a great song. That entire CD is a great cd. The new one any good?

Offspring...hehe, they've been a 'joke group' (meaning they have a lot of fun in their songs) since they first debuted. Never got a real chance to listen to 'em.

Celine Dion...everytime I see her sing that Titanic (disaster) song. I keep expecting her to keel over from hitting her chest too hard *evil thought.

Also, that group Smashing Garden does a good Celine Dion imitation (for years I thought their 'I'll be your fantasy' song was Celine Dion herself heh)

One of my favorite cds is the S&M album from Metallica. The orchestra and the band just mixes well. Sounds a whole lot better than normal Metallica stuff.

Couple more bands I like musically are Goo Goo Dolls and Collective Soul. Good groups musically and fun to listen to.

But that's my opinion. heh.

Want a good cha-cha song?

I want to Know - Marc Anthony

They say around the way you've asked for me
There's even talk about you wanting me
I must admit that's what I want to hear
But that's just talk until you take me there-oh

If it's true don't leave me all alone out here
Wondering if you're ever gonna take me there
Tell me what you're feeling cause I need to know
Girl you've gotta let me know which way to go

Cause I need to know
I need to know
Tell me baby girl cause I need to know
I need to know
I need to know
Tell me baby girl cause I need to know

My every thought is of this being true
It's getting harder not to think of you
Girl I'm exactly where I wanna be
The only thing is I need you here with me - oh

If it's true don't leave me all alone out here
Wondering if you're ever gonna take me there
Tell me what you're feeling cause I need to know
Girl you've gotta let me know which way to go

Cause I need to know
I need to know
Tell me baby girl cause I need to know
I need to know
I need to know
Tell me baby girl cause I need to know

Cause I need to know
I need to know
Tell me baby girl cause I need to know
I need to know
I need to know
Tell me baby girl cause I need to know

Cause I need to know
I need to know
Tell me baby girl cause I need to know
I need to know
I need to know
Tell me baby girl cause I need to know

If it's true don't leave me all alone out here
Wondering if you're ever gonna take me there
Tell me what you're feeling cause I need to know
Girl you've gotta let me know which way to go

Cause I need to know
I need to know
Tell me baby girl cause I need to know
I need to know
I need to know
Tell me baby girl cause I need to know

If it's true don't leave me all alone out here
Wondering if you're ever gonna take me there
Tell me what you're feeling cause I need to know
Girl you've gotta let me know which way to go

Cause I need to know
I need to know
Tell me baby girl cause I need to know
I need to know
I need to know
Tell me baby girl cause I need to know

Edit - Actually foxtrot and Tango would work too. I'll be learning the Tango this year

Now here is something. If you want to dance, Backstreet Boys is actually quite good as the beat is right and you can get a few steps flowing. It's a bit upbeat too. N'SYNC is rotten, it just doesnt seem to work right. Doesnt help I hate the songs. Most so-called Dance and the artist of the week is awful to get moving to as well.

Gotta agree with Taylor Millard... 'The Joshua Tree' (U2) is one of the best albums of the past 20 years, easily.

My musical tastes are pretty varied. Anyone examing my 1500+ mp3 collection will affirm that... I still have to rip 75% of my CD's though...

For example... after listen to a song or two from the afore mentioned album by U2, I found myself listening to a song by Fuel. Then, it was on to Metallica. Then some Eric Clapton blues recordings. Now, it's a violin concerto by Bach.

So, like I said... varied. :)

Dislikes would probably be easier to list...

Not a fan of country music... not a real big fan of rap, although there are a few individual songs that are good. Most current 'pop' music is... well... annoying for multiple reasons, about which I will not rant here.

Ahhh... now, I'm listening to one of my personal favorite groups... Rush.
