Orange County could fade after the initial opening - Beautiful Mind will probably remain strong. The question is: can FOTR rebound Saturday and remain number one?

I don't think so either. I would expect A Beautiful Mind to grab the top spot this week, with FOTR probably in second place.

Actually FOTR had a suckey Sunday last weekend, lower than its Friday.
Plus it went from around 2 million on Mon and Tues, to 1.38 million on Thursday.
Maybe FOTR was a holiday era movie. I was expecting 30-35% drops after the holidays. Still Next weekend is another holiday period, so that should help it a bit.

Its not all bad for it though it should still clear 250 (it only needs another 30 million) it should also clear Shrek for #2 I think since it will be in theaters until the Oscars, it might not make it to 300, but I think it will limp there somehow. I also think it will easily make between 800-900 World Wide which in itself is amazing.

$800 to $900 million?! No way.
$700 million tops.
LOTR is done in the U.S. practically, it'll make it to $270 million at most.

its not done, maybe its slowed down a bit but it will still be in theaters until the Oscars after that it is finished, I am certain it will do 270 in the US at least maybe 300, its hard to tell at this point, it could do 800, I think it will, look at how well it is doing in Australia and it hasn't even hit Japan and a few other countries yet (I think so far it has done over about 300 overseas maybe more, I haven't heard any recent numbers)

In every market outside the USA, it is doing much, much bigger buisness. If it had done the same type of buisiness in the USA that it has in Australia, you would have LOTR already above 300 million and climbing fast.

Lord of the Rings has already taken in over 500 Million WW...in less then a month...it will blow past the 700 million mark, and could make it to 800-900 million...maybe even more.
HP has taken in over 850 million WW already, and I think LOTR will have legs outside the US just like HP did...

Looks like I turned out to be right FOTR remained #1 for the third straight week taking in about 16 million, Beautiful Mind was second with 15.8, then Orange County with 15. The FOTR now has made 228 million passing RH2 for 4th place of the year, it will easily make it to 275-300 at the box office and any more will depend on the awards buzz, because if it wins best picture in the Oscars I guarentee it will pass HP probably just barely.
