your sigs await you all in your respective inboxes...

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 09:56:48 PM
Yeah I got it thanks. One question how do I get it in as my sig I downloaded and then posted the place it was on my hard drive, in this case it was C:\unzipped\dookusig.jpg but it just shows that text, am I doing something wrong?

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 10:01:17 PM
You have to have it uploaded to the internet somewhere. If you have nowhere to upload it to, just let me know.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 10:06:10 PM
Oh okay I misunderstood I have an account at yahoo and it lets me put photos in something called a briefcase do you think that would work and by the way if you made the other one go ahead and send it I might do what you are doing and change it every now and then, if you haven't made it yet, I'm in no hurry take your time and send it when ever you finished it. Oh before I forget I love the one you sent it is very cool, now if I can get it up.

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 10:13:09 PM
now if I can get it up.
Dude! Watch how you say that! :headbash

:lol

I didn't make the other one yet, but I'll eventually get to it. Your briefcase at yahoo should work fine as long as it assigns your pic a URL.

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 10:16:42 PM
now if I can get it up.

Dude! Watch how you say that! :headbash

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 10:18:45 PM
LOL I didn't even realize I made that pun:D Okay I put it the URL in but it is still coming out as text could I be doing something wrong or is yahoo's doing.

Jedieb
Nov 17th, 2001, 10:18:54 PM
JMK's altruism has inspired me! Buff, I noticed you don't have an avatar. (That's the little picture the rest of us have under our username you hairy ape!) So I went ahead and made one for you. Here's the link;

www.yavin4.com/humor/buff.jpg

This may take those meathooks you call hands awhile to type in, but I think it'll suit you just fine. Let me know if you need any help setting it up.

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 10:23:11 PM
Glad to see! Paying it forward! :lol

JMC, this may sound silly, but make sure that when you post you check the box that says "Show signature". If that's not it, there's something else you can do, but I'm not so swift at it...

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 10:26:04 PM
I am pushing the button unless I can't see it I'll push it again and let me know if you can see it. I am wondering if its yahoo they could have some kind of encription that is preventing it to come on here.

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 10:32:04 PM
I noticed that in that link, in "Dooku" the "D" is capitalized. Did you do that? If so, try making lower case and then just make sure you're clicking in the box that says show signature.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 10:37:07 PM
I'm not sure if I did or not but I will give it another try if it doesn't work they I'm think its yahoo also would all those letters and the ? mark at the end make it harder for the site to read it?

Jedieb
Nov 17th, 2001, 10:40:11 PM
JMC, I tried to look at the pic but I got a message saying I couldn't access it through my server. They may not be letting the pic load up from there. I'm just guessing here, I could be totally off base but you may have to upload it someplace else. If you can't find anyplace I may have a spot for it.

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 10:42:47 PM
Yeah, I agree, it looks like this thing isn't cooperating for you. I think you should look for another place to upload it. Both Jedieb and I have places to upload it to...

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 10:46:06 PM
I think I figured out why it wouldn't work its because some reason the thing is listed as being private. I guess that must be the default I have never even used the thing before so I didn't know there was a public/vs pvt. Now lets see if it works finally. If not maybe one of you can let me borrow a spot to put it.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 10:50:58 PM
Well that didn't work looks like the idiots at yahoo won't even let it be viewed outside their space at all :verymad . Says a lot about yahoo I guess, so which who would like to lend me a hand in getting it uploaded.

Jedieb
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:02:33 PM
Since JMK probably has a copy on his hard drive it'll probably be easier for him to upload it somewhere. But if there's a problem just e-mail it to me and I'll try to get it up... I mean UPLOADED later tonight.

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:04:46 PM
Copy and paste this URL into your sig spot in your profile. And yes, the .txt extension is right for some reason. Don't ask...

http://www.geocities.com/kroussel2001/dookusig.txt

Jedieb
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:08:12 PM
Man that's a sweet lookin' sig! Excellent work yet again JMK!:smokin

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:10:36 PM
Thanks, I think I'll continue making them one at a time for whatever ideas I come up with, but the ideas are getting scarcer since I haven't got the 3rd trailer on my HD...

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:12:48 PM
It does look cool I hope it worked this time

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:15:12 PM
Darn I guess it wasn't yahoo, I guess it must be something on my end anybody have ideas what?

Jedieb
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:19:25 PM
Try copying and pasting this as your sig:

HTML
BODY
<font color="FF0000">
<center>http://www.geocities.com/kroussel2001/dookusig.txt</center>
/BODY
/HTML

You'll have to add < > in front of and behind HTML, BODY, /BODY, and /HTML

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:22:46 PM
Geez, now I'm at a loss. Try pasting the address into the signature line again, and resaving your changes.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:24:40 PM
Nope still no luck, I can't figure out what the problem is. Is there something on the profile options that needs to be selected.

Jedieb
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:27:09 PM
Oh crap I give up. Let me try emailing it to you JMC. Then just paste in the sig box in your control panel. Stupid HTML!!!!!

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:28:16 PM
Dammit I'm an idiot.

Paste this in there instead:

[img src="http://www.geocities.com/kroussel2001/dookusig.txt]
Instead, change the "[" and "]" for "<" and ">"

THAT should work.

Jedieb
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:31:55 PM
That's what I was trying to say!!! STUPID HTML!!!!! :shootin

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:33:48 PM
Technically it's not working yet, but I CANNOT believe it took me that long to figure that one out...

:lol

Jedieb
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:35:08 PM
As a mod I feel it my duty to point out this thread is in the wrong forum. So let me take care of that by saying the following:

If this thread were a movie it would be the lowest grossing film of all time. In fact, JMK, JMC, and Jedieb would actually be forced to reimburse any moviegoer unfortunate enough to see it plus pay damages. So I'm thinking we'd owe $150M. Any other guesses?

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:35:46 PM
Lets see if this works

Jedieb
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:37:02 PM
God I think I'm gonna cry...

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:37:05 PM
On the bright side, we'd be the biggest failures EVER! Not some middle of the pack losers! :rollin

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:39:32 PM
Is this the ONLY thing in your signature box?

[img src="http://www.geocities.com/kroussel2001/dookusig.txt]

the properties of that image show MUCH differently...

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:39:57 PM
Well at least we are going down in flames. So I guess it didn't work or is not just up, regardless at least it is not text.

Jedieb
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:40:07 PM
WE'RE #1! WE'RE #1! WE'RE #1! WE'RE #1!

If nobody objects, I'm going to move this thread to General Discussion. I think it's effectively brought the forum to a screeching halt. Objections? A link will still be there so buff should be able to find his way when he gets here.

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:42:34 PM
That's fine with me. :)

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:43:05 PM
I repasted it, if it doesn't work which ones am I suppose to use these<> or this []

Jedieb
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:44:46 PM
<> I think

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:44:55 PM
< >
Those ones. Don't worry, we'll get this damn thing working...

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:48:39 PM
Well techinically this should be working. I just stole the sig to see if it work, and it is working for me. Are you certain that what you have pasted into your user options is correct?

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:50:05 PM
are those quotes suppose to be there because I can't think of anything else. I guess if any thing at least there will be activity in the General area.

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:53:35 PM
I think its correct I past what you posted but any way here is the url when I click on properties on what should be the sig http://www.geocities.com/kroussel2001/dookusig.txt>

<font%20face= does that seem right

JMK
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:54:59 PM
Yes, the quotes are supposed to be there. They surround the web address.

Just copy and paste this exactly if you haven't already.
[img src="http://www.geocities.com/kroussel2001/dookusig.txt"]
Then replace the [ for > and ] for > and it should work.

Jedieb
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:59:19 PM
JMK, maybe we could e-mail him the text and then he can just copy and paste it? Any how, I'm crashing. I've got breakfast duty tomorrow morning. It's the only way I can get away with watching 10 hours of NFL football on Sundays. Night, night boys!

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 17th, 2001, 11:59:51 PM
Well I finally got it to work maybe I did paste something right I'm not sure but regardless it works Thank you JMK and Jedieb for the help.:crack

JMK
Nov 18th, 2001, 12:04:52 AM
WOOHOO!! I hope you like it! Actually, not that I'm looking at it, I kinda don't like the Dooku image in the middle. If you want to get rid of it, I'd be more than happy to remove it. Just kidding, it's all yours now, if you like it, it stays....

Jedi Master Carr
Nov 18th, 2001, 12:17:03 AM
I think it looks really cool when the new trailer come out we will probably have better pictures of him still send me the other one when ever you get it done, I might want to change it later on just to try to have a different look occaissionly. Again thanks for all the help.

JMK
Nov 18th, 2001, 10:32:25 AM
No prob, you're more than welcome. I enjoy making them, and hopefully everyone will enjoy having them. I came up with a new one last night, but I'm gonna hold on to that idea for awhile.
Your alternative one was an Anakin/Padme love thing right?

I gave some instructions for a little trick that fools the geocities image hotlinking restrictions in the "Testing" tread a couple down from this one in this forum. Here is a link to the thread.

http://www.swforums.net/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=7025

My instructions are near the end of the thread.

JMK
Nov 18th, 2001, 05:13:26 PM
Buff, if you follow those instructions from swfans.net, you'll be fine. I'll tell you what *seems* to have worked for me;

1- on your server (geocities), make sure you havethe .jpg file, then change the extension to .txt and then put the .jpg file back on the host, but don't delete the .txt file. Next, copy and paste the URL of the .txt file into your user cp window where it asks for the signature link. Follow? If not, just post and we'll keep trying.

Thanks for the sig JMK! Now, reading through this thread, I'm wondering if I'll have any trouble. I just got a new host for my web page, but I don't know if they allow any other site but my own to view the images (it's a free host, so you never know...) Anyway... Let's see if this works.

Doc Milo
Nov 19th, 2001, 02:36:43 PM
It works!

Buff, if you can't get it figured out, I'd be glad to let you park the image in my web space.

Just email me. (drmilo@optonline.net)

JMK
Nov 20th, 2001, 11:04:08 PM
My pleasure. Its always fun to much around in photoshop with Star Wars images. Of course, I seem to have established a certain style with these sigs, but then again, Lucasfilm wouldn't have it any other way, would they? :lol. I'm glad you like it. Let me know if you want to switch it for something else sometime...

Doc Milo
Nov 21st, 2001, 12:21:30 AM

Here's an idea for you. A split image of Hayden's face on the right, and the Vader mask on the left. Maybe even a blue/red lightsaber split image along with it...

darth_mcbain
Nov 24th, 2001, 05:29:24 PM
RH, If you are trying to link an image from Geocities, try renaming the file to have a .txt extension and linking that... Geocities gets testy about linking images from outside pages...

Doc Milo
Nov 27th, 2001, 02:05:00 AM
RH -- there's nothing wrong with it (if you look at your previous posts, you'll see the pic) You just have to remember to click the "show signature" box with each post...

RHJediKnight
Nov 28th, 2001, 05:25:12 PM
Oops! Heh...I thought I had been doing that. I'm so used to just clicking something that always automatically shows my sig with each post, that's all. Okay then...

Thanks for the help, Doc.
