I was just thinking, have we ever seen 3 potential $200M blockbusters in a winter season before? Monsters INC., HP, and LOTR all have legitimate shots at grossing over $200M. I can't ever recall a winter B.O. with that much firepower. Can any of you?

Last year - maybe not. ;)
We had 2 200s and a few 100s
Whart Women Want ALMOST made it over the mark to join Castaway and Grinch. (182 million).
Monsters Inc will definitely pass the mark.
We'll see about the other two. ;)

I can't remember any. Is it possible that the winter will outgross the summer? :lol

The winter could out quality the Summer, anyway. ;)
The 2 biggest movies last year came out in the winter.
And they didn't have a HP, Pixar or LOTR movie.

I think this winter could outgross the summer, depending on what LOTR and HP do, I think they both should combine to make 500 million from Nov to January easily and that is not even bringing in International revenue.

Shrek- 267 million
RUsh Hour 2 - 212(?) million
Mummy Returns - 202 million
Pearl Harbor - 198 million (ouch!)
Jurassic Park 3 - 180 million
Planet of the Apes - 178 million.
Plus Fast and Furious, American Pie 2, Tomb Raider, Dr. Doolittle and the Princess Diaries. :p
Of course - that's May - August.
